Chapter 216: She Trembles
Chapter 216: Chapter 216: She Trembles
The kindergarten had already been found, and Julia Land suggested, "How about we make dumplings tonight and invite Sophia over?"
James Thompson nodded, "I’ll follow your lead."
Julia Land smiled and called Sophia Hart.
Sophia Hart was awakened by her cellphone’s ringtone. She reached for her phone without even opening her eyes and answered, "Okay, I’ll come over tonight."
Andrew Benson was neatly dressed, sitting on the edge of the bed.
He leisurely watched as Sophia reached for her phone beside the bed.
After hanging up, Sophia sensed something was off. She opened her eyes, turned her head, and saw Andrew Benson fixing his cufflinks.
"You’re awake."
"You..."
"Are you about to ask why I am here? Have you forgotten? After you had your fill and pulled up your pants, you didn’t want to take responsibility?"
The man looked at her with a forlorn expression.
Sophia’s voice stuck in her throat; she slowly remembered everything.
A smile flickered in Andrew’s eyes, "Good, it seems you’ve remembered."
Instinctively, Sophia touched her waist, feeling a soreness.
She silently turned her back to Andrew, unsure how to face him.
Her demeanor cause Andrew, who was initially in a good mood, to frown.
Andrew lay down on the bed and embraced Sophia from behind, blanket and all.
He kissed her back.
In a low voice, the man said, "Lavinia, back in college, you said you wanted to become Andrew Benson’s bride."
Sophia took a deep breath, her eyes slightly red and her heart sour, feeling like crying.
Her voice choked, "Back then, I ran to find you, wanting you to take me away, but I saw you in bed with Senior Liao."
Andrew was momentarily stunned, then his eyes filled with complexity. He tightly embraced Sophia.
Sophia heard no explanation from him and her heart instantly grew cold.
She struggled to break free from his hold.
Feeling her struggle, anxiety clenched Andrew’s heart, and he held her down, "Sophia, listen to me."
Sophia suddenly turned around, looking at him with those pure eyes he loved so much. She smiled, "Go ahead."
Andrew was instantly speechless.

Julia Land taught Dale Land how to make dumplings.
The little one was happy, even though the dumplings weren’t very pretty.
Julia praised her, "Our Dale is already quite skilled."
Dale smiled and nodded, "Dale’s dumplings are prettier than Auntie’s!"
Julia turned to Sophia Hart.
She noticed Sophia zoning out, holding a dumpling wrapper motionless.
Julia’s heart skipped a beat, and she asked with concern, "Sophia, what’s wrong?"
Sophia snapped back to reality, showing a smile uglier than crying, "Julia, don’t worry, I’m fine."
Julia, naturally, did not believe her; Sophia’s distraught appearance clearly indicated something was wrong.
"Dale, go check if dad is seriously cooking the dumplings in the kitchen."
Julia coaxed Dale to the kitchen.
Dale nodded her head and ran to the kitchen.
Julia put down her work, "Sophia, you can tell me anything. Having one more person might help you find a solution."
Sophia couldn’t hold back any longer, "Julia, why did he have to come back to find me? I finally moved on."
Hearing this, Julia knew things had gone wrong.
It seemed to involve Andrew Benson.
"What exactly happened?" Julia frowned.
Sophia took a deep breath and slowly said, "My parents threatened him to leave me years ago. I finally escaped home and went to his place, then saw him in bed with a senior."
"I brought it up today, and he gave me no explanation."
The issue was like a fishbone stuck in her throat.
Julia frowned even more after hearing this.
She held Sophia’s hand, her voice gentle, "Sophia, it’s hard to let go without an explanation from Andrew, I understand how you feel. What are you thinking now?"
Sophia smiled painfully, "Forget it, we’ve been apart for years. There’s no need to get back together."
Julia sensed the pain in Sophia’s words when she said it, but she also knew that some thorns, if not removed, make it hard to heal completely.
"Sophia, look forward."
Sophia displayed a smile, "Julia, I know."
Sophia continued making dumplings, feeling slightly cold inside.
She thought she had moved on from her past relationship and started to like Thomas Sullivan.
It was only today that she shockingly realized she was wrong.
She carefully recalled her moments with Thomas, and was surprised to find she never really cared about Thomas’s past.
On the contrary, she minded Andrew’s involvement with other women intensely.
This contrast finally made her realize that deep down, she still thought of Andrew.
Sophia’s hands trembled slightly.
It wasn’t unusual for a man to have several girlfriends before marriage, but she couldn’t accept it; after all, they hadn’t officially broken up then.
Julia noticed Sophia’s unusual behavior and grasped her trembling hand.
"Sophia, don’t go back to Grace City for now. I’ll ask Mr. Thompson to buy a villa nearby, and we can go out together when we are free, just like before."
Sophia took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, "Alright, I’ll listen to you, I won’t go back to Grace City for now."
Julia nodded, "That’s right."

Meanwhile, in Dunmore City.
The prison door opened.
Grace Land walked out of the prison, seeing her son not far away coming to pick her up.
"Son."
Victor Langston responded gloomily, "Mom, let’s hurry. It looks like it’s going to rain."
He drove a very battered electric scooter.
