Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 212 In the Bathroom
Chapter 212: Chapter 212 In the Bathroom
James Thompson had just helped her in the bathroom.
Afterward, he wrapped a bath towel around his waist.
Julia Land raised her eyebrows, looking at him with some surprise.
He had helped her, but he didn’t make any move to take the next step.
The man’s voice was extraordinarily husky as he whispered lowly, "You’re very tired. Go to sleep early after your bath."
When the man displayed such consideration, Julia Land accepted it with peace of mind.
Dale Land woke up in the morning.
Turning her head left, she saw mommy; turning right, she saw daddy.
The little one grinned.
She quietly rolled over and got up.
James Thompson was already awake when Dale moved, but he pretended to still be asleep, closing his eyes, wanting to see what the little one would do.
Dale didn’t want to disturb mommy’s sleep, so her little chubby hand slowly neared daddy’s nose.
She pinched daddy’s nose.
The first time, daddy had no reaction.
Dale narrowed her eyes with a smile, and she pinched daddy’s nose again.
The second time, daddy still had no reaction.
She confidently lifted her foot, ready to climb over daddy and get out of bed to play.
James Thompson helplessly reached out and grabbed the little girl’s foot.
"Daddy."
James Thompson lowered his voice, "Daddy will take you out, let’s not wake mommy."
Saying this, he sat up, carefully picked up the little girl without disturbing Julia Land, and they both tiptoed out of the bedroom.
As he looked at his daughter’s smiling face, he asked tenderly, "Dale, what do you want for breakfast?"
Dale tilted her little head, thought for a moment, and then happily said, "Dale wants to eat pancakes."
James Thompson smiled, "Okay, let’s brush our teeth first."
He sent a message to his subordinates to go buy pancakes.
At seven-thirty, Julia Land woke up, brushed her teeth, changed clothes, and walked out of the bedroom.
She saw both the large and the small turning their heads to look at her.
"Mommy, good morning," Dale said with breakfast still in her mouth.
"Good morning."
Just then, the doorbell rang.
James Thompson asked Julia Land to go have breakfast, and he went to open the door.
Outside, Sophia Hart was holding breakfast, giving Andrew Benson a knock on the back of his head.
"I’m taking Dale out to play today; don’t you keep following me," Sophia Hart warned.
Andrew Benson was someone who, once he got attached, would shamelessly stick around.
When the door opened, Sophia Hart lifted her gaze to see James Thompson.
She momentarily jumped.
Stepping back, she bumped right into Andrew Benson behind her.
Andrew Benson extended his hand, wrapping it around her, and looked at James Thompson, nodding, "Cousin."
This "cousin" absolutely made Sophia Hart’s eyes bulge.
James Thompson glanced indifferently at Andrew Benson, opened the door wider, and let them in, "Come in and close the door."
Sophia Hart turned her head and glared at Andrew Benson, silently reprimanding him in her mind for calling someone cousin out of the blue.
Who’s your cousin.
Julia Land, eating breakfast, saw Andrew Benson following Sophia Hart in and exhibited not the slightest surprise.
"Dale, good morning," Sophia Hart greeted as she bent down after placing the extra breakfast down.
"Cousin Sophia, good morning, you look so beautiful today," Dale sweetly complimented.
Sophia Hart blinked, giggled in a squeaky voice, "Today’s Dale is also very beautiful."
An interaction between two childish spirits.
Andrew Benson bent down, his height similar to James Thompson’s, both tall with refined features and a smile lacking any aggression, "Dale, good morning."
Dale gave him a smiling face.
Yesterday, Andrew Benson bought an ice cream for the little one, and just like that, he had won her over. "Uncle, good morning."
Sophia Hart was instantly speechless. When did this man win over Dale Land?
Julia Land had a meeting to rush to at the company, so after having breakfast and quickly applying some light makeup, she was ready to head out.
Before she left, James Thompson caught her and asked, "Shall I pack your bags? That way, you can come straight home in the evening."
Julia Land nodded, pecked him on the corner of his lips, changed her shoes, and left the house.
Assistant Scott walked into the office, his expression grave, "Chairman, I’ve found out that a woman was arranged to be in Isaac’s room the night before last. She claimed it was arranged by you, and we still can’t identify who organized it."
Julia Land was reviewing documents that needed attention after each department’s self-inspection when she heard what Assistant Scott said, and her brows immediately furrowed.
She had two suspicions in mind.
She said calmly, "We must find the person behind this."
The other party’s motives were twofold, either they didn’t want the Moore Group to collaborate with Asia Cloud, or it was a personal vendetta.
Now that she knew what had happened, at least she could go back to Isaac and explain everything clearly.
Julia Land picked up her phone and dialed Isaac’s number.
After a few rings, Isaac picked up the phone, his voice carrying a hint of coldness, "Director Land."
Julia Land got straight to the point, "Mr. Isaac, I just found out about what happened the night before last. It definitely wasn’t the Moore Group’s arrangement, and our cooperation is of utmost importance."
Isaac’s brow furrowed.
Julia Land continued to explain, "We are still investigating, but I have two suspicions. One is from a rival who doesn’t want the Moore Group to work with Asia Cloud, the other could be due to personal animosity. Regardless of which it is, I will do everything in my power to get to the bottom of it."
Isaac glanced at Chloe Lewis sitting opposite him.
Without the Moore Group, the Cloud Summit project could still proceed with the Lewis Corporation.
He didn’t give Julia Land any response to suggest there was still a chance for cooperation.
Julia Land waited quietly for a few seconds, guessing that Isaac was hesitant.
She said earnestly, "Mr. Isaac, I understand your concerns. But I hope you can give us at the Moore Group a chance; this misunderstanding will not affect our commitment to the collaboration."
Just as Isaac was about to decline working with the Moore Group,
his assistant whispered to him, "Mr. Thompson, please give Director Land one more chance."
Chloe Lewis, who was almost certain that the Asia Cloud Group would collaborate with the Lewis Clan, also heard what the assistant said, and her expression changed instantly.
Isaac paused, then nodded and said to Julia Land over the phone, "I’ll give the Moore Group a fair chance to compete with the Lewis Corporation."
Julia Land breathed a sigh of relief and said sincerely, "Thank you, Mr. Isaac. We will give it our all to prove our capabilities and sincerity."
After hanging up, Julia Land felt a wave of relief—it was at least some good news.
She needed to identify the person who had sabotaged them from the shadows as soon as possible.
"Assistant Scott, continue investigating the person behind this."
"Understood, I’ll expedite the investigation," Assistant Scott nodded.
Just then, Secretary Du knocked and entered, "Chairman, the tax bureau has come to inspect our accounts."
Madame Bell had made her move as expected.
Julia Land’s brow knitted slightly, but she immediately adjusted her emotions. "Please, let them in."
Moments later, several tax officers entered the office.
Julia Land stood up and shook hands with them.
The senior officer politely said, "Director Land, we have come for a routine inspection."
Julia Land stayed calm, smiling, "You’re welcome to inspect. We will fully cooperate."
She turned to Secretary Du and Assistant Scott, "Assist our colleagues from the tax bureau, and make sure all the documents are ready."
Chloe Sullivan was holding her personal art exhibition today.
She walked arm in arm with Madame Bell, greeting the distinguished guests attending the exhibition with a beaming smile.
Her smile betrayed the satisfaction she felt deep inside.
She had overheard the phone call Madame Bell had made to the Gunn Family.
The sensation of mother and daughter at each other’s throats was truly delightful.
Chloe Sullivan’s paintings were quite appealing, bolstered by the Bell Family’s patronage and her own talent for capturing the beauty in flora.
Madame Bell praised her, "This exhibition is a success."
Chloe Sullivan smiled and nodded, "Thank you, godmother. Your and godfather’s support is very important to me."
At that moment, an uninvited guest appeared at the entrance of the exhibition hall.
James Thompson walked in, dressed in a sharp shirt and suit, his expression detached, as he entered the gallery.
His arrival immediately captured the attention of both Chloe Sullivan and Madame Bell.
