Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Her Waist

James saw that Julia Land was acting like she didn’t recognize him.

A tightness involuntarily gripped his heart.

He subconsciously glanced at the man next to Julia.

He actually knew him.

CEO of Asia Cloud Group, Isaac.

"Mr. Thompson."

Isaac had also seen James and was clearly surprised; he quickly greeted James.

"Isaac."

The two shook hands.

James had collaborated with Isaac before, so they were acquainted.

Julia didn’t know that the two men knew each other.

James pretended to be friendly as he extended his hand to Julia, smiling slightly, "Director Land."

Though it was a polite handshake,

the man’s thumb quietly caressed the back of her hand.

Her hand felt warm.

Julia’s mouth twitched slightly, inwardly cursing Mr. Thompson as a scoundrel.

While she cursed him in her mind, her face still wore a proper smile, "Mr. Thompson."

What was supposed to be a dinner between Julia and Isaac turned into a trio because of James’s sudden arrival.

During the meal, James and Isaac discussed the currently very popular topic of AI.

Their conversation revolved around AI technology.

Julia wasn’t specialized in this field and only had a half-baked understanding of the technical jargon and issues.

She tried her best to stay focused and listen intently to their conversation, trying to remember the key points they mentioned.

She might not need this information now, but it could come in handy at some point in the future.

And perhaps show off with it.

James was constantly watching Julia, noticing her interest in the topic and deliberately slowing down his speech when chatting.

When Isaac went to the restroom, only Julia and James remained in the private room.

Mr. Thompson immediately pulled his chair closer to Julia and asked with a half-smile, "Director Land, can you recognize me now?"

His gaze unabashedly swept over her professional attire, his deep eyes lingering on the curves that were outlined.

Below that was her slender waist.

A waist that one could grasp.

"This waist seems to be getting slimmer."

James frowned, his hand grasping her waist, his voice low and husky, "Little Juli, you’ve slimmed down just from being out for one day. How about moving back in tonight?"

"....."

The warmth of his fingertips seeped through her clothes.

Julia’s body, already sensitive to James’s touch especially around her waist, trembled involuntarily.

Julia smiled as she held chopsticks in her hand and poked at the man’s presumptuous arm.

She deliberately changed the subject, "Madame Bell has asked me to meet her tomorrow."

James responded without hesitation, "I’ll accompany you."

His reaction made Julia laugh.

She smiled warmly and said, "No need, I’ll go alone. Madame Bell isn’t some kind of monster, I can handle this little matter."

Her tone was relaxed.

Seeing Julia refuse his offer to accompany her, a look of regret flashed in James’s eyes, and thinking of Madame Bell, he frowned.

The only reason Madame Bell would want to meet with Little Juli was because of Chloe Sullivan or the twins.

"Don’t worry," Julia softly said, "We all know we can’t offend Madame Bell, but..."

James understood what Julia left unsaid.

He nodded, "Little Juli is really smart."

Isaac hadn’t come back yet, and James thought about how he would continue to be alone tonight.

He pinched Julia.

Kissed her.

At first, he was very gentle.

But later, his actions became more presumptuous.

Julia was worried that Isaac might suddenly push the door open and see them in an awkward situation.

She pushed James, signaling him to keep within limits.

Seeing her hand constantly causing trouble, James simply restrained both of her hands and pressed them against the back of the chair.

Isaac had just returned.

Julia Land was chatting leisurely with James Thompson with a smile on her face, the atmosphere seemingly harmonious.

However, beneath the table, Julia’s small hand was tightly twisting James’s thigh.

The pain shot straight to his brain.

It was agonizingly refreshing.

Despite the pain in his thigh, James’s expression remained unchanged, a faint smile still playing at his lips.

He looked quite at ease.

The meal came to an end.

Isaac courteously mentioned he had a driver to take him back to the hotel and before leaving, he addressed Director Land, "Director Land, see you at Moore Family tomorrow, hoping we have a chance to collaborate."

What he meant was that he had decided to conduct business with Moore Family.

Julia Land sincerely smiled, "See you tomorrow."

It wasn’t until Isaac’s car had left that James Thompson stood beside Julia Land.

He lowered his voice and asked, "Little Pear, if you’re not going home with me, can I go with you?"

Julia raised her eyebrows and smiled at James, not saying much, and turned to walk toward her own car.

Seeing that she had not explicitly refused, James almost couldn’t conceal his grin as he followed her pace.

However, as soon as Julia got into her car, she closed the door immediately and instructed the driver to drive away.

The car sped off, leaving James who had not managed to get in, standing there, speechless.

James quietly watched the departing car, the smile on his face gradually turning into helplessness.

He shook his head and sighed.

Jasper Winters drove over quietly.

Even he felt a bit of sympathy for his own BOSS now.

Under a strict wife’s watch.

Jasper mused internally, thinking how miserable it was and that he would definitely never fall in love.

On the other hand, Isaac returned to his hotel room.

He was removing his tie while on the phone, walking into the bedroom when he suddenly stopped.

The sight before him stunned him.

A woman in a transparent, thin dress was lying on his bed.

Isaac’s handsome face immediately darkened as he coldly asked, "Who let you in?"

The woman, looking shy, replied softly, "Director Land arranged for me to take care of you."

Isaac’s brow furrowed deeply.

Anger flashed in his eyes.

He quickly hung up the phone and said sternly, "Get out."

The woman looked at him, confused, "But, Director Land said—"

"I said get out!" Isaac’s voice was icy and unmistakable.

His ingrained gentlemanly demeanor wouldn’t allow him to say ’get lost.’

Seeing this, the woman hurried off the bed and quickly left the room.

Isaac stood still, taking a deep breath.

He tried to quell the rage inside him.

It was an outright insult to him.

His impression of Julia Land, which had been quite good earlier today, had now plummeted.

No matter whether this was Julia’s idea or her subordinates acting clever on their own,

Isaac felt he couldn’t choose to collaborate with Moore Family.

At this time, in the office of Bell Group.

It was late, yet Maxwell Bell was still working.

His phone rang, and Maxwell answered it.

The man on the other end obsequiously said, "I have arranged a woman in that hotel room as per your instructions; about the money?"

Maxwell calmly responded, "The money will be transferred to you tomorrow."

He hung up the phone, leaned back in his chair, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

His aunt had messaged him again this afternoon, Chloe Sullivan wanted to take Eleanor Thompson to apologize to Julia Land and her daughter.

He had specifically arranged tonight’s incident as a small lesson for Julia Land.

People under the protection of the Bell Family, really thought they were so easy to bully.

He gazed at the night lights through the French window, rubbed his brow, returned his gaze, and continued with his work.
