Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Leave Him Behind

James Thompson quickly drove back home.

He found Julia Land sitting in the living room with an unusually solemn expression, as if a storm was about to break.

Mr. Thompson’s heart skipped a beat.

On his way back, Jasper Winters had already asked the restaurant manager.

He probably knew what had happened.

Every time James thought of Chloe Sullivan and the others, he couldn’t help but frown.

The man sat down beside Julia Land and carefully asked, "Julia, where’s Dale? What happened? You seem very unhappy."

Julia Land forced a smile, glanced sidelong at him, and said coldly, "Dale has fallen asleep. You ask what happened? Didn’t I tell you on the phone? Dale said Eleanor Thompson pushed her, but Eleanor claims Dale bumped into her and fell down on her own!"

She stood up, angrily staring at James Thompson, lowering her voice so as not to disturb her daughter.

Finally, she couldn’t help but burst out, "James! Do you believe Dale, or do you believe Eleanor Thompson?"

James Thompson was startled when he saw Julia Land angry.

This time Julia Land was truly furious.

He hesitated for a moment, then quickly swore, "Julia, of course, I believe our daughter."

Julia Land knew that today’s incident was relatively minor and her anger might be considered an overreaction.

Truthfully, she was taking out her frustration on James Thompson.

But Julia Land was in distress.

The thought of Madame Bell accusing her of not raising her daughter properly made her heart burn with anger.

And there was Eleanor, belonging to the Thompson Family.

For Lucy Thompson’s sake, James wouldn’t do anything about the already born twins.

Julia Land said coldly, "I will take Dale to live elsewhere for a while."

This was unacceptable.

James Thompson stood up; he wanted to hold her hand.

Julia Land shook him off, refusing to be held.

He paused, his expression grave, "Why leave to live somewhere else? Julia, if I’ve done something wrong, you can tell me, and I will change, okay?"

He tried to calm Julia Land’s emotions.

"James," Julia Land tugged at the corner of her mouth, looking a bit weary, "I have always understood your dilemma. The Thompson Family can’t publicly disclose who the twins’ biological parents are, and even if you deny it, everyone thinks they’re your children; probably even the twins think you’re their father."

Her voice was filled with a hint of helplessness and grievance, "Even after we reveal Dale’s identity, I still feel like we’re letting Dale be wronged. When Dale grows up and hears all this gossip, what are you going to make of her thoughts?"

James Thompson was at a loss; he wanted to explain, but he also felt Julia Land was right.

Even though he declared he wasn’t the father of the twins, no one believed it.

After he married Julia Land, people would still think he didn’t dare acknowledge the twins because of Julia Land.

These matters seemed trivial to them as adults.

But what about when the child grew up?

James Thompson knew he couldn’t quell Julia Land’s fury now.

"Julia, I’m sorry. Give me a little time, and I will think of a solution for the twins," James Thompson gently took Julia Land’s hand, "Please don’t be angry, okay?"

Julia Land pulled her hand away and turned to go upstairs to pack.

Once their daughter woke up, she would take her to live somewhere else!

James Thompson watched Julia Land’s retreating figure, feeling quite downhearted, knowing that anything he said now wouldn’t cool her temper.

He could only wait for her emotions to settle.

James Thompson followed her upstairs.

When he saw Julia Land packing luggage, his heart tightened.

He grabbed Julia Land’s hand, his gaze sharp, and asked sternly, "Why are you packing?"

Julia Land answered lazily, looking up, "I’m taking our daughter to live elsewhere for a while."

"No!" James Thompson had waited five years for Julia Land and couldn’t let her out of his sight so easily.

He would go mad.

"Julia, it’s all my fault, everything. I will find a way to resolve the issue with the twins."

His voice was filled with pleading.

He held her in his embrace, his eyes deep and dark, "Please don’t go, okay?"

"Mr. Thompson, listen to me," Julia Land sighed, "I’m still angry, and I don’t understand why Eleanor Thompson had to push Dale. It hurts."

"I will take Dale to stay with Sophia for a while."

Julia Land was stubborn, and James Thompson knew if he refused to let her go, she would only get angrier.

Mr. Thompson was in a dejected state.

Julia Land had finished packing, just waiting for Dale Land to wake up.

When Dale Land opened her eyes, she immediately saw her mother and smiled.

Julia Land gently pinched her daughter’s nose, smiling as she called out to her, "Dale, time to get up, Mommy is taking you to stay with Aunt Sophia for a while, okay?"

"Mommy." Dale Land sat up, batting her eyes, looking at her mother, then at her father, still a bit dazed.

Not yet fully awake.

Julia Land picked up Dale Land and spoke softly, "Mommy will help you get dressed."

After Julia Land had changed her daughter’s clothes, she carried her out of the bedroom.

James Thompson held back and followed mother and daughter, "I’ll carry Dale downstairs."

"No need, I can do it."

"..."

Dale Land sat in the car, soft and cuddly, asking, "Daddy, aren’t you coming?"

James Thompson wanted to silently get into the car, but Julia Land laughed angrily and closed the car door.

"...."

"Drive." Julia Land steeled her heart and didn’t look at James Thompson.

James Thompson stood alone, watching the car drive away, feeling an indescribable sense of loneliness wash over him.

Julia and his daughter had left him.

James Thompson thought of Chloe Sullivan and Eleanor Thompson, a dark expression crossing his face.
