Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 205: Angry
Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Angry
Celeste Lewis bit her lip when she saw Julia Land and others looking at her, her face showing a bit of hesitation.
She wasn’t sure whether to speak or not.
Julia Land and the others quietly waited for Celeste Lewis to continue.
Celeste quickly glanced at Madame Bell, thought of Maxwell Bell, and finally spoke, "Actually, I saw it. Miss Sullivan’s daughter was walking properly, while Miss Land’s daughter was hopping around and bumped into her. She fell by herself."
Hearing this, Julia Land furrowed her brows tightly, anger and hostility stirred within her.
She stared coldly at Celeste Lewis.
Being stared at like this by Julia Land made Celeste stand up even straighter, "I am telling the truth. What, am I not allowed to speak the truth?"
"Are you sure what you are saying is the truth?" Julia Land asked coldly.
"I am sure. I just said what I saw. Believe it or not," Celeste snorted coldly.
Madame Bell felt that Eleanor Thompson was being wronged. She frowned and looked coldly at Julia Land and the little girl in her arms.
The little girl looked adorable, but to think she’s learning to lie at such a young age, what will she become when she grows up.
Madame Bell spoke calmly yet firmly, "Miss Land, you are accusing Eleanor wrongly. Although the children are still young, if you are mistaken, you should apologize to her."
Sophia Hart’s face flushed with anger, nearly beside herself, "Who knows if Miss Lewis is lying!"
Celeste shrugged indifferently, "I am not lying. Believe it or not."
Celeste’s attitude was infuriating.
After five years, Sophia knew getting angry was pointless.
She looked at Julia Land.
Dale Land was very sensitive to adults’ emotions and looked uneasily at Julia Land, "Mommy."
Julia curled her lips, smiled at her daughter, and shifted Dale in her arms to a position where Dale’s face was turned away, ensuring she couldn’t see her somber expression.
She touched the back of her little one’s head to keep her from turning around.
"Madame Bell, I do not believe what Celeste Lewis said. My daughter was hopping around and fell by herself? How come Eleanor didn’t bump into anything and fall?" Julia asked leisurely.
Madame Bell felt that Julia Land was being unreasonable, "What do you mean? Eleanor didn’t fall. Is she still wrong? How can your heart be so harsh!"
Chloe Sullivan hesitated as well but spoke up for her daughter, who was just wronged, "Miss Land, when children make a mistake, they should be taught and apologized if necessary."
Julia Land smiled slightly, "Miss Sullivan, my daughter did nothing wrong. I will only praise her, and I do not believe Miss Lewis. My Dale is just four years old, and naturally, she couldn’t possibly lie."
Madame Bell felt that Julia Land was adept at dodging responsibilities and frowned, "Miss Land, as a mother, you only know how to shield your child and not how to educate, that’s somewhat negligent."
Celeste nodded in agreement, "Yes, Madame Bell is right."
Madame Bell gave Celeste a warm smile.
At that moment, Celeste truly felt she had made the right move, and having left a good impression on Madame Bell was critical, since Maxwell Bell was still unmarried.
Madame Bell did not want to waste more time, "Chloe, let’s go dine."
Chloe nodded, glanced at Julia Land, bent down to pick up Eleanor, and walked out of the private room.
"Wait."
Julia Land called out to stop Madame Bell and the others.
In this hostile atmosphere, Julia suddenly chuckled lightly, "I have evidence that it’s not my daughter who is lying. If I have the evidence, Miss Lewis, what will you do?"
She looked sharply at Celeste Lewis.
Celeste felt uneasy when she heard that Julia said she had evidence.
That’s impossible. Julia couldn’t possibly have any evidence.
There were no cameras in the restroom.
Julia was surely just trying to scare her.
Celeste glanced at Julia, seeing her composure, she hid her unease and forced a smile, "You can show the evidence."
Sophia Hart exhaled a sigh of relief inside, relieved that Julia might have evidence. She glared at Celeste Lewis.
How could she falsely accuse a four-year-old child of lying?
Whereas Chloe Sullivan had always known not to underestimate Julia’s words, her eyes flickered slightly.
Now that Madame Bell already had a bad impression of Julia and her "bastard" child, she couldn’t let Julia produce any evidence. If the bastard lied, then the lie stands.
What could she do to stop Julia from presenting the evidence?
While Chloe racked her brains.
Under their gaze,
Julia took out her phone from her bag.
She slowly said in a low voice, "Do you know why this restaurant is called Pearwill? Because James Thompson named it using both his and my names."
Chloe’s gaze widened in disbelief as she stared at Julia.
Julia smiled, "You might not know, but Pearwill Restaurant has hidden cameras installed at the entrance of the restroom, and this restaurant happens to be my daughter’s father, James Thompson’s property. I will call James over now."
Julia Land’s voice was calm yet icy.
She did not like people saying her daughter was ill-mannered.
She looked at Celeste Lewis with a deliberately menacing expression.
Celeste Lewis got scared and stepped back a few steps.
And when Celeste heard Julia mention James Thompson, she opened her mouth in shock.
Could it be that the baby girl Julia was holding was... not Christopher Moore’s deceased husband??
Celeste’s mind raced back to the banquet held five years ago.
At that time, Julia had been pregnant.
She had thought the child belonged to the Moore Family, since Julia was now Mrs. Moore!
"You’d better ensure what you just said is true, Miss Lewis, otherwise James Thompson will certainly not let you off."
Julia dialed James Thompson’s number.
Celeste’s face turned instantly pale; Julia had actually called James Thompson.
Seeing Celeste’s pale face made Julia even more certain that Celeste had lied.
Chloe Sullivan pondered what to do next. If it was some random child who had lied, things wouldn’t be too bad, but she feared it was her own daughter...
James Thompson answered the call, and Julia succinctly explained the situation.
"I’ll be right over," James immediately instructed to end the meeting, convinced that his Dale was well-behaved and not a liar.
"Okay, I’ll wait for you."
Julia hung up the call.
Celeste’s legs went weak with guilt, and she wanted to lean on something.
What would happen when James arrived and discovered she had maligned his daughter? Would she face a terrible fate?
Celeste really wanted to slip away.
Just then, Connor Bell came looking for someone.
"William said he has a stomach ache, Little Chloe, let’s take the kids to the hospital," Connor had just finished speaking when Chloe Sullivan, anxious, quickly grabbed Eleanor Thompson and hastened to leave the VIP room.
Madame Bell also followed out, worried.
Seeing Chloe and others leave, Celeste also quickly followed suit and rushed out.
Sophia Hart angrily cursed, "Celeste Lewis, how dare you leave!"
With Chloe and others in a hurry to take the children to the hospital, Julia and her party knew they couldn’t stop them from leaving.
But why did Celeste run?
Sophia Hart was so angry she wanted to rush out and drag Celeste back.
"Sophia," Julia called out to Sophia Hart.
"Sister Julia, it’s obvious Celeste has lied because she felt guilty! It’s outrageous! How can she lie about such a thing!"
Julia’s expression remained calm, "Let’s first take Dale to get some ointment."
It was uncertain if falling hard on the ground had caused any other injuries.
Actually, there was no camera at the entrance of the bathroom, and since Celeste, the witness, came out accusing Jasper Winters’ daughter of bumping into Eleanor, Julia had to strategize.
She wanted to disarray Celeste’s composure, especially after mentioning James Thompson. Celeste, having given a false testimony, naturally fled in fear.
She would remember this!
Ever since hearing about his daughter being knocked down in the call, James Thompson pursed his lips and contained his rage.
He drove to Pearwill Restaurant only to find it empty.
Julia and her group had already left the restaurant.
James called Julia. The phone at the other end rang briefly before being disconnected.
He thought Julia was busy.
He had no choice but to call Jasper Winters.
Jasper wore a bitter face, inwardly groaning in distress.
As he reluctantly answered the phone, he secretly prayed that James wouldn’t explode in anger.
"BOSS, Miss Land seems upset. She had Assistant Scott come to pick her up, and she refused my car," Jasper’s voice carried a hint of helplessness.
He didn’t know why Julia was upset.
After all, he hadn’t accompanied them to the top-floor restaurant and was unaware of the specifics.
James Thompson’s brow furrowed slightly.
Was Little Julia upset?
He showed a thoughtful look, "You go ask the restaurant manager and clarify what happened today."
