Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 203: She Pushes Me
Chapter 203: Chapter 203: She Pushes Me
"Cousin, don’t cry. Dale’s got some candy for you," a soft, adorable child’s voice entered her ears.
Sophia Hart immediately stopped her tears and looked down at the little one standing in front of her, his clear black-and-white eyes gazing at her.
Sophia’s heart melted, and she bent down to pick up the adorable Dale Land.
She wanted to take him home.
Julia Land’s little one was too cute.
"Our Dale is so cute! Cousin won’t eat it; it’s for Dale."
"I still have some. It’s for you, cousin."
The little one insisted cordially, and Sophia happily accepted the candy.
After showering, Julia Land and James Thompson came downstairs only to see Sophia Hart and Dale Land playing on the couch.
It felt like watching two little kids.
Sophia straightened her back immediately upon seeing James Thompson.
Ever since Julia’s disappearance five years ago, she dreaded seeing James’s cold face.
Little Dale, who was originally sprawling as he played, straightened his posture too upon seeing Sophia adjust herself.
Julia poked James’s waist helplessly, signaling him not to frighten Sophia anymore.
James understood her hint. He felt helpless too, after all, it was Sophia who acted like a mouse seeing a cat at the sight of him—what could he do?
He grabbed Julia’s randomly poking hand, leaned closer, and whispered hoarsely, "Stop poking."
Julia’s lips curved up.
Sophia internally screamed, feeling full from the excessive display of affection without even having eaten.
After dinner.
Julia asked Sophia to stay over so they could have a good chat in the evening.
Sophia was about to happily agree when out of the corner of her eye, she saw James smiling and instinctively hurried to refuse, "Julia, I’ve booked a hotel. I’ll be in Capital City for a while. We can chat when you’re free."
Julia did not insist, "Okay."
Sophia inwardly cursed James.
She had planned on having a good chat with Julia tonight.
After their meal had settled, James took Dale for a bath.
Sophia made a face behind James’s back, which Julia found amusing, though she pretended not to see.
With James not in the living room, Sophia relaxed, slumping on the couch.
"By the way, Julia, did you know that Noah Quarter and Emily Yeat are getting married?"
Though not currently in Dunmore City, Sophia was well-connected with friends there, enabling her to keep up with the local gossip.
"Emily Yeat? You mean from the Yeat Family, whose main business is in tea?" Julia casually squinted her eyes.
She hadn’t forgotten about Noah Quarter and Christopher Moore’s scheme concerning her and James.
However, she hadn’t found time yet to deal with Noah Quarter.
"Yep, that Emily Yeat. I don’t know what she was thinking, actually liking Noah. The Quarter Family isn’t what it used to be; it must be true love."
The topic passed lightly between them.
Sophia checked the time; it was 8 PM, so she planned to head back to her hotel to rest.
Julia held her back, "Wait a second, I’ll have Mr. Thompson drive you to the hotel."
Sophia’s face scrunched up upon hearing this, "Maybe not?"
Julia, concerned because Sophia hadn’t brought any bodyguards this trip, insisted, "Listen to me, I’ll go upstairs and call him."
Julia rushed to Dale’s room to ask James Thompson to take Sophia to the hotel.
James gently touched Julia’s head, his voice calm yet profound, "Don’t worry, there’s already a car waiting for her outside."
Hearing this, Julia also felt relieved, trusting that if Mr. Thompson had arranged it, there would be no problem.
She hurried downstairs.
She told Sophia that a car was already waiting outside.
Both Sophia and Julia thought James had arranged for a driver.
"Julia, I’m off then, good night."
"Good night."
Sophia reached the door and indeed saw a car parked outside.
The driver opened the door for her, she thanked him and got in.
"How are you here too?" Sophia was surprised to see the familiar yet unfamiliar man in front of her.
She had come to Capital City, and he had followed her here!
And he had been waiting outside Brother Thompson’s house for her.
Andrew Benson’s eyes were deep as he looked at Sophia, "I’ll take you to the hotel."
As Sophia met his gaze briefly and quickly looked away.
She turned to leave the car, but Andrew swiftly reached out, pinning her tightly, and effortlessly closed the car door.
Sophia struggled.
Unfortunately, the man’s strength was too great for her to break free, leaving her no choice but to glare at him furiously.
Sophia Hart didn’t want to talk, and Benjamin Taylor couldn’t do anything about it.
He took her to the hotel and also booked a room to stay.
Sophia Hart took a shower and lay in bed tossing and turning, feeling quite uncomfortable.
He explained to her that he had left because her parents had threatened him using his mother, and she understood.
But there was another matter that she couldn’t understand.
Sophia Hart picked up a pillow and covered herself with it, not wanting to recall the past.
**
Assistant Scott stood in front of Julia Land; he reported today’s schedule and another matter, "Mr. Bell’s assistant called this morning; he wants to meet to discuss cooperation."
Julia Land, focused on flipping through the meeting materials from yesterday, said without looking up, "Moore Family has already decided not to cooperate with Bell Clan."
Her tone was firm and resolute.
Although puzzled, Assistant Scott still went out to call back the Bell Clan.
We won’t mention the surprise of Maxwell Bell when he heard Julia Land refuse to cooperate.
Julia Land was busy until noon and planned to have lunch with Sophia Hart.
Sophia Hart was at home playing with Dale Land; upon receiving the call, she planned to take Dale Land out for lunch without hesitation.
James Thompson was working in his study and, because he was also busy, didn’t go out with them for lunch, but he arranged for Jasper Winters to accompany them.
Pearwill Restaurant is a famous restaurant in Capital City.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was elegant and luxurious.
As they walked into the restaurant, they heard comforting piano music.
High ceilings and exquisite decorations showed sophistication everywhere.
Their reserved seats were near the floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking a nearby port.
Julia Land was unfamiliar with the restaurants in Capital City, as she wasn’t a native.
This time, Jasper Winters had taken care of the booking.
They ordered their meal.
Julia Land, resting her chin on her hands, joked, "Pearwill sounds like a combination of my name with Mr. Thompson’s."
Sophia Hart blinked, "Julia, didn’t you know? This is Brother Thompson’s property; he changed the name five years ago."
Julia Land, "?"
She really didn’t know.
Dale Land was curiously looking at the scenery outside, eyes unwavering.
The waiter soon brought their ordered meals.
Julia Land tasted it and found the flavor excellent.
Dale Land could eat by herself; Julia Land didn’t need to feed her but occasionally wiped her mouth with a napkin.
Halfway through the meal.
Sophia Hart saw Chloe Sullivan walking in with Madame Bell; they hadn’t seen each other for years, and Chloe hadn’t changed much.
She also saw two children, probably the twins.
Sophia Hart cursed in her mind, "Bad luck."
Chloe didn’t know that this restaurant belonged to James Thompson, but seeing the name ’Pearwill’ displeased her.
If it weren’t for the Bell couple reserving the place, she wouldn’t have entered.
Chloe didn’t see Julia Land and the others.
After the main course, there were desserts.
When Dale Land was eating her small dessert, she got crumbs on her hands and said in a baby voice, "Mommy, Dale needs to wash her hands."
Sophia Hart put her fork down and said with a smile, "Julia, I’ll take Dale to wash her hands."
"Okay, go ahead," replied Julia Land with a nod.
Sophia Hart stood up, picked the little girl from the chair, and took her small hand to the restroom.
In the restroom, Sophia Hart turned on the tap and Dale Land washed her hands by herself.
"Auntie, Dale’s hands are clean now," Dale Land smiled, her eyes curving into crescents, and Sophia Hart smiled along.
Just then, a little girl in a red dress came into the restroom.
Eleanor Thompson recognized Dale Land at first glance.
It was this girl that her dad was holding at the amusement park!
As Sophia Hart turned to get a paper towel, she suddenly heard a loud ’bang’ sound; alarmed, she turned around to see Dale Land sitting on the ground, looking dazed.
Sophia Hart rushed over nervously and picked up Dale Land, "Dale."
Dale Land reacted, her eyes filled with tears, wanting to cry but holding it back, "Auntie, it hurts, she pushed me."
The little one opened her palm—her hand had rubbed raw.
Her butt also hurt.
Sophia Hart glared fiercely at Eleanor Thompson.
