Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 185: Five Years of Patience
Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Five Years of Patience
Julia Land didn’t head straight back to the company after leaving the hospital, instead, she had her driver take her to the Lazyman Coffee Shop up ahead.
She thought of Noah Quarter she had just seen.
Julia’s lips slowly curled into a sneer at the thought of him, finding his presence utterly sickening.
He had lost her and yet, there he was, playing the part of the devoted lover trying to win back his ex-wife.
This type of man was purely caught up in his own delusional feelings.
Self-indulgence.
There was another word that could describe him, ’cheap’.
The car stopped.
Assistant Scott turned to ask, "Chairwoman, we’ve arrived at the Lazyman Coffee Shop."
Julia turned to look at the Lazyman Coffee Shop and hummed in acknowledgment, "I will sit down for a bit."
Assistant Scott was about to get out to open the door for Julia, but she said it wasn’t necessary.
Dressed simply in a blouse and suit trousers that day, her tall figure attracted the gaze of some patrons as she walked into the coffee shop.
"Welcome."
The owner, a plump man with thick black-framed glasses, greeted her with a smile and asked her what she would like to drink.
"A cappuccino, thank you."
Julia paid and placed her phone on the counter, tapping it with her index finger.
The owner glanced at the phone, nodded, and placed a drink menu on top of it. "Would you like anything else, madam? Our shop’s pastries are very delicious."
"No pastries needed."
"Alright, you can find a seat first, and your coffee will be brought to you shortly."
Julia nodded, "Thank you."
She chose a seat by the window and sat down.
After finishing her coffee, Julia took her phone and left the Lazyman Coffee Shop.
Her fingertips gripped the phone tightly.
The phone in her hand was the one given to her by Christopher Moore when she returned to the country.
That man had told her, "Just use this phone."
At the time, Julia was suspicious that Christopher Moore might still be monitoring the phone.
The coffee shop owner was someone Douglas Hayes knew, a man skilled at fixing phones.
Just now, when the owner brought her the coffee, he had written a single word ’yes’.
Christopher Moore truly was an absurdly invasive creep, having even installed a listening device in the phone.
Julia was relieved that she hadn’t revealed anything about her daughter to James Thompson in the car last night.
Moore had done it on purpose, deliberately reminding her to use this phone.
It was a form of intentional psychological pressure he was exerting on her.
"So what if you know there’s a listening device? You’ll still obediently continue to use it," they seemed to say.
Julia narrowed her eyes, looking up at the sky.
She got into the car, "Back to the office."
Sometimes Julia felt that her sanity had remained intact till now, which was a testament to her tough character.
**
Meanwhile.
Christopher Moore was wearing brightly colored beach shorts as he squatted in the small yard, constructing a fence out of bamboo.
"Done!"
He turned and placed the newly purchased rubber duck by its feet inside the fence.
The little duckling scampered freely within the enclosure.
He pulled out his phone and snapped a photo of the duckling and the fence, sending it to Julia Land.
[Got Dale a new rubber duckie brother]
At this time, Julia had already returned to her office and glanced at her phone when she saw the message from Moore.
Her expression remained blank as she replied, [Oh.]
Moore looked at the simple ’Oh’ and slightly lifted the corners of his mouth in a smile.
A duckling confined within a fence.
He stood up, his gaze lingering on the little duck.
Ignorance truly was the bliss of life.
He checked the time on his phone; it was time to pick up Dale Land from kindergarten.
To prevent being discovered by James Thompson’s people, Moore would always leave the house wearing a mask, a hat, and black sunglasses.
Once he stepped outside, he utterly transformed into an unrecognizable homebody of sorts.
Wearing a bunny tee, little Dale Land said goodbye to her teacher with her backpack in tow.
Upon seeing Moore, the young girl looked up and asked, "Uncle Christopher, where’s Dale’s daddy?"
Her eyes were bright and innocent.
In school, the children would always talk about their mommies and daddies.
Dale Land didn’t know where his father was.
Christopher Moore squatted down, touched Dale Land’s head, "When Dale is all grown up, Uncle Moore will take you to see your daddy."
"All grown up?" Dale Land tilted his head, "When will Dale be all grown up?"
"Soon," Christopher Moore picked up Dale Land, "The little yellow duck that Dale raised has come back."
Christopher Moore figured that all little yellow ducks looked the same, and children couldn’t tell if it was the original one.
When they got home, Dale Land put down his little school bag, washed his little hands, and then excitedly went to the backyard to see the little yellow duck.
Christopher Moore’s butt had just touched the sofa.
When he saw the little girl rush in, standing in front of him with her mouth pouting and her eyes tearful as she accused, "Uncle Moore, you lied, that’s not Dale’s ducky."
"That’s the baby of the little yellow duck. Dale needs to take good care of it, okay?"
"Baby?" The little girl’s tear-filled eyes widened in surprise.
She was adorably stunned.
"Yes, baby! Just like Dale is mommy’s baby," Christopher Moore managed to appease Dale Land with a fib, "First go feed the little yellow duck, it’s hungry."
"Okay."
Dale Land trotted back to the backyard with his little legs.
Christopher Moore sent a message to Julia Land, [Dale asked me today where his father is. Guess how I answered?]
It was past six in the evening when Julia Land saw the message from Christopher Moore.
Her heart clenched in pain.
Assistant Scott knocked and walked in, holding a bag of something, "Chairwoman, Mrs. Moore sent over dinner."
Julia Land’s voice was hoarse, "Okay, thank you."
Assistant Scott noticed Julia Land’s voice was a bit strange, somewhat choked up.
But when he looked at Julia Land, he still saw her cold and stunning expression.
"Mrs. Moore said for you to eat it while it’s hot."
After Assistant Scott left the office.
Julia Land called Mrs. Moore to say thank you.
Mrs. Moore on the other end urged her to take care of herself and not work so late every day.
Julia Land responded with an okay.
They hung up the phone.
Julia Land stared at her phone, lost in thought. Did Christopher Moore dare to place her beside the Moore couple, not fearing she might use the couple’s lives to threaten him?
Clearly, he was not afraid.
A person who could disregard his parents’ lives to such an extent was no longer human.
Julia Land sent a message to Christopher Moore, [Worse than a beast.]
At this time, the "worse than a beast" Christopher Moore was practicing splits with Dale Land.
"Uncle Moore, your legs aren’t straight. Look at me," Dale Land was doing a perfect split with his little legs, patted his own leg, showing Christopher Moore, "You need to work harder."
Christopher Moore was pressing down on his stiff, long legs while looking at the message from Julia Land.
He replied with self-awareness, [You’re right, worse than a beast is a very apt description.]
*
At ten o’clock at night, Julia Land left Moore Group.
The driver opened the car door.
She looked up at the black sedan not far away.
She knew James Thompson was inside that car.
Julia Land withdrew her gaze and sat in her car.
James Thompson watched Julia Land’s car drive away before continuing the discussion with Jasper Winters about what they had just mentioned.
"Noah Quarter’s small company has been developing quite well these past two years," he said coldly, "It’s time. Let them make a move."
"Yes," Jasper Winters brought up another matter, "There’s no record of Miss Land and Christopher Moore’s marriage registration in our country, and abroad..."
"There’s no need to check."
Jasper Winters was confused for a moment. By no need to check, did he mean to let go of Miss Land, or...?
James Thompson, hidden in the darkness, looked out the window coldly. He dialed a number.
"James Knight, take Christopher Moore into custody."
Over these five years, his people had spotted Christopher Moore occasionally.
But since he had never seen Julia Land, he had restrained his men from capturing Christopher Moore.
He also knew about the little girl by Christopher Moore’s side.
For five years, he had waited.
James Thompson touched his face, still sore from Julia Land’s hit, and let out a muffled laugh. In recent days, he had confirmed that all was safe around Julia Land.
