Chapter 180: Wedding Photos
Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Wedding Photos
The three hosts of the Moore Family appeared.
Everyone got up to offer their congratulations.
Yet they were all curious as to why Christopher hadn’t shown up.
Matthew took the stage and said a few words, explaining the absence of his son, "My son is tied up with business overseas, but whether he makes it tonight is not important. The most important thing tonight is to formally introduce our Moore Family’s daughter-in-law, Julia Land."
Julia, holding Mrs. Moore’s hand, gracefully walked onto the stage.
James’s deep gaze stayed fixed on the figure on the stage.
Julia took the microphone and smiled.
It was a beautiful, confident, and generous smile.
After she spoke a few words, Mrs. Moore took the microphone and praised Julia in every possible way.
Stepping down from the stage, Matthew entertained guests at the main table next door.
Meanwhile, Julia sat with Mrs. Moore at Madame Bell’s table.
Mrs. Moore wanted to chat with Madame Bell, so they sat together, and Julia could only take the seat next to James.
James stood up and pulled out the chair for her.
Julia thanked him and sat down.
Chloe looked up at Julia and James, then cast down her eyes.
Mrs. Moore turned and reminded Julia to eat something to line her stomach as she would have to make toasts later.
Madame Bell smiled, "Ophelia, you must be relieved."
Mrs. Moore’s given name was Ophelia Singleton.
Mrs. Moore couldn’t stop smiling, "Absolutely. When you have a chance, come visit our Moore Estate; we grow a lot of produce there."
"Sure."
The waiter served the dishes.
Julia wiped her hands with a wet tissue.
James picked up some chopsticks and served Julia some food, "This dish is good, try it."
Mrs. Moore gave James a surprised look but didn’t think too much of it.
In fact, they hadn’t planned to send an invitation to the Thompson Family, but Christopher had called and asked them to send one to James.
The Moores wondered if their son’s relationship with James had improved.
Julia glanced at James and smiled slightly, "Mr. Thompson, thank you, but I can manage."
She lifted her glass in a toast to James.
Her lips parted slightly as she drank.
She then toasted Chloe Lewis.
Madame Bell didn’t drink, so Chloe drank for her.
"I’ll drink on behalf of my godmother, Mrs. Moore, please."
"Please."
Hearing the words "Mrs. Moore," James stiffened slightly, his narrow eyes deepening.
Chloe’s smile was bright and beautiful.
Just then, the host took the stage and said, "Young Master Moore couldn’t come back today, but he has prepared a gift for Mrs. Moore."
Julia was not aware that Christopher had prepared a gift.
She looked forward with a smiling face, though inwardly she was on high alert.
Christopher couldn’t possibly have such good intentions.
The banquet hall lights dimmed gradually.
All the lights on the stage went out.
Before long, the big screen on stage lit up.
A series of wedding photos accompanied by music started to play.
These photos were taken five years ago.
Back then, Christopher, impersonating James, had taken Julia to the bridal shop for the shoot, except now the face of the man in the photos on the screen was no longer James; it had been replaced with Christopher.
Julia probably knew that AI technology had been used to change the faces.
The original ’James’ had been replaced with Christopher.
She clenched her teeth secretly, wishing she could bite Christopher to death.
James watched the wedding photos on the screen with a dark gaze, leaning back in his chair and loosening his tie slightly.
He reached under the table and tightly grasped Julia’s hand.
Julia wasn’t sure how to describe her feelings; she just knew Christopher was up to something.
Her hand, hidden under the table, was firmly held by the man.
He must be very angry.
The lights in the banquet hall had not fully turned back on; it was a bit dim.
His fingers forcefully intertwined with her five fingers.
The host spoke with deep emotion, "These wedding photos were taken by Young Master Moore and Mrs. Moore five years ago. They married discreetly, living a quiet and happy life. Young Master Moore is very grateful for Mrs. Moore’s sacrifices and companionship over the years."
Julia turned her head to look at James, then turned back to watch the wedding photos on the screen, showing a surprised and joyful smile.
She tried to pry open the hand that was gripping her fingers.
James wouldn’t let go.
He wanted to whisk Julia away without a second thought.
But he hadn’t yet sought her opinion.
Julia pursed her lips, feeling very nervous.
She was worried that others would discover the image of her hand clasped tightly with James’s.
Sweat appeared in the palm of her hand.
She was also afraid that Christopher would find out.
As the wedding photos finished playing on the screen, the image froze on one of Christopher kissing Julia’s forehead.
James’s eyes turned bloodshot.
He leaned close to Julia.
Her whole body trembled in fear of the man’s unexpected actions.
Struggling to remain calm, she turned to look at him and asked softly, "Mr. Thompson, is there something wrong?"
James slowly gave a faint smile, raised his glass to toast with Julia, and in a voice almost gritting his teeth, asked, "When did you marry Christopher?"
"About five years ago," Julia blinked and softly replied, "I got married five years ago."
He pulled her hand toward his thigh.
Julia dared not struggle too much for fear of causing a scene.
His thighs tensed.
"Married five years ago?" he repeated slowly.
