Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Return to the Country

Chloe originally wanted to catch up to confirm whether it was indeed Julia Land.

But upon seeing Madame Bell coming out, she temporarily gave up the idea of pursuing.

Madame Bell said with a smile, "I told you there was no need to pick me up, where are Eleanor and William?"

"The kids are waiting for you in the car, godmother, it’s been months since I last saw you."

Madame Bell was very fond of Chloe; she had accepted her as her goddaughter two years ago.

"It’s just your sweet talk, I bought gifts for the kids."

"What about my gift? Why only for the kids?" Chloe playfully complained.

"You won’t be left out."

The two of them chatted and laughed as they left the airport.

Five years ago, the Bell couple had spoken with Cody Thompson—Chloe was reluctant to part with the twins; though she couldn’t live in the Thompson Family’s house, she could still visit the twins.

"Grandma, Eleanor missed you so much!" Eleanor, wearing a princess dress, reached out for a hug, and Chloe lifted her out of the car; she looked up and called out.

Madame Bell loved children, and she truly adored the twins, "Grandma missed Eleanor too."

Madame Bell wanted to bend down to lift Eleanor, but Chloe quickly stopped her, "Godmother, Eleanor is quite heavy now."

"Eleanor shouldn’t let Grandma carry her, Grandma will get tired," Eleanor sweetly cooed, keeping Madame Bell in high spirits.

William, dressed in a little vest, was also lifted out of the car by Chloe and called out.

He was not as sweet-talking as Eleanor.

Madame Bell smiled and tenderly stroked William’s hair, "Get in the car, we’re going home, Grandma brought you an amazing gift."

The fact that Chloe was still doing so well these years was due to Madame Bell’s protection.

The Bell Family were businessmen, but Madame Bell’s maternal family background was connected to the government, which the Thompson Family was wary of.

*

The car entered the Moore Estate.

Julia Land had stayed on that island almost cut off from the world, and the sight of modern buildings along the way seemed surreal.

The Moore Estate occupied a vast area.

Probably several thousand acres.

Julia Land sat in the car, looking out the window, many people were working the fields, she curiously asked, "Butler Lin, what are they planting?"

Butler Lin respectfully explained, "The soil of the Moore Estate is fertile. The master and madame arrange the planting of various crops all year round, the area on the right is currently planted with strawberries."

"On the left side, they are planting vegetables, like bok choy."

"The grounds of the estate are essentially planned for growing various crops."

Julia Land had carefully examined the Moore Group’s industries, which did not include agricultural products; she wondered, "Is it for sale?"

Butler Lin smiled, "A part of it is directly given to those in need, such as nursing homes, orphanages, and another part is sold, the money from which is donated to impoverished mountain areas."

Julia Land felt a bit surprised, unsure if it was for reputation or purely to do good.

The car stopped at a villa.

The driver got out and opened the door; as soon as Julia Land alighted from the car, she saw a man and a woman standing at the door.

Julia Land had seen the photos of Christopher Moore’s parents and recognized the two people as his parents.

Mrs. Moore, her face full of smiles and excitement, approached; she took Julia Land’s hand, "Welcome, my daughter-in-law, you must be tired from the journey."

Julia Land was actually mentally prepared that she might not be welcomed at the Moore’s, but Mrs. Moore turned out to be very enthusiastic.

Mr. Moore’s demeanor was also gentle, his eyes resembling Christopher’s, "Hearing from that rascal, you are called Julia Land, can we call you Julia?"

Julia Land smiled and nodded, "Yes, Uncle Moore, Aunt Moore, hello."

"Very good, come along, I’ll take you to your room, you rest first, and if there’s anything, we can talk after you’ve rested," Mrs. Moore was now completely invigorated.

Her son had always cherished Ann.

She had been hopeless that she would ever have a daughter-in-law or a grandson in this life, but now that she had a daughter-in-law, could a grandson be far behind?

"This is Christopher’s room."

"Thank you, Aunt Moore."

Julia Land couldn’t bring herself to call them mom and dad yet, conservatively calling her Aunt Moore.

Mrs. Moore didn’t mind the formality of Julia Land’s address; she asked about Julia’s food preferences as she planned to have the kitchen prepare dinner.

"I’m not picky, anything is fine."

"Alright, rest then, I’ll come up to summon you when it’s time to eat."

Mrs. Moore smiled as she closed the door and left.

Julia Land wasn’t in a mood to check out the room.

She pulled out her phone and called Christopher; after the call connected, "I’ve arrived at the Moore Estate."

"Tomorrow, the company will arrange a press conference."

"I know."

"You are sort of parachuting into Moore Group, the shareholders may give you a hard time."

"Okay."

Just as Julia Land was about to hang up, Christopher mentioned James Thompson, "Do you know that in these past years, James has sent many people to look for you everywhere?"

Christopher had specifically placed Julia on an isolated island to prevent James from finding her.

"You just landed, and he must have received the news too, Julia Land," he said, "If you want Dale to grow up safe and sound, don’t try anything fancy."

Christopher Moore smiled and then gently called out to Dale Land, who was tiptoeing and dancing, "Dale."

He made sure to call loud enough for Julia to hear.

It was a warning for her to behave.

Dale Land didn’t know why Uncle Moore suddenly called her; she stopped dancing and ran over, "Uncle, what do you need Dale for?"

Listening to her daughter’s soft voice on the other end of the phone, Julia’s originally cold eyes softened.

She said to Christopher, "You don’t need to keep warning me, I know what to do."

She hung up the phone.

Christopher looked at the disconnected call, raised an eyebrow, and stroked Dale’s head, "What are we eating tonight?"

Dale’s eyes widened; the mention of food always brightened her up, "Yesterday we had plain rice, today let’s have burgers and fries!"

"...."

Christopher stroked his chin pensively, "Let’s stick to plain rice."

Dale climbed onto Christopher’s lap, sat down, and held his face in her hands, "Eating burgers and fries is so much fun."

Eating plain rice was not fun for her.

Christopher took her small hands off his face, smiling, "Alright, today we’ll do what Dale wants."

"Our people at Capital City Airport spotted a woman resembling Miss Land, they took a photo."

Jasper Winters handed his phone to James Thompson.

James recognized the woman in the photo as Julia Land, who had disappeared five years ago. Suppressing his excitement, he asked sternly, "Where is she now?"

Jasper respectfully replied, "Moore Estate’s butler personally went to the airport to pick up Miss Land, and their car drove into the Moore Estate."

This situation seemed troublesome.

Miss Land arrived by plane, and Moore Estate’s butler personally received her at Moore Estate; this was the strange part.

Jasper had an ominous hunch.

Trouble was coming.

"Prepare the car, we’re going to Moore Estate."

"Yes."

**

After taking a shower, Julia was called by a servant, "Madam, the lady asked me to tell you that outside the manor gate, Mr. Thompson from the Thompson Family is looking for you."

Julia continued drying her hair; her hair was long and styled into large waves now.

She looked down, "Don’t see him, tell him we’re not acquainted."

The servant acknowledged.

Outside the gates of Moore Estate was a black sedan.

James sat inside, staring at the closed gates, silently waiting for Julia.

His fingers unconsciously tapped his knee.

He was very nervous.

He vividly remembered when Christopher took her up the helicopter ladder.

The security guard who was in charge of the gatehouse received an internal call, and after hanging up, he said to Jasper, "The lady said ’don’t see, not acquainted.’"

Jasper was shocked by that title; the lady called was Julia?

Had Julia married Christopher?

This was...

Jasper asked with a forced laugh, "What lady? Miss Land?"

The guard nodded, "Yes, our lady just returned to the country today."

Jasper was at a loss for words, what was all this?

Christopher, to get back at the Thompson Family, really would stop at nothing.

Jasper looked at the black sedan; he steeled himself and walked over to the car door.

He met James’s gaze.

Jasper paused, "Miss Land said ’don’t see... not acquainted.’"

"Anything else?" James asked hoarsely, his veins bulging on the back of his hand from gripping his phone hard.

"The guard called Miss Land ’the lady of the house,’" Jasper slowly said.

James looked coldly at Jasper, "What did you say?"

Jasper, with difficulty, repeated his earlier words.

"Miss Land is now Moore’s lady of the house."

The two men fell silent.

James looked deeply toward the words ’Moore Estate,’ his gaze profound and his tone light, "Let’s go, find a way to gather more information, check if they are registered as married in the country."

They might be married abroad too.

Jasper didn’t mention it, but James knew.
