Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 174: Choice
Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Choice
In the elevator.
Christopher Moore chatted gently with Julia Land, "Little Julia, it’s such a pity that your acting talent isn’t in showbiz."
Julia Land smiled lightly, "The same goes for you, your acting is even more impressive than mine."
They complimented each other.
Christopher Moore looked at Julia Land with a complex gaze, still unable to see any signs of nervousness or fear in her.
"Do you think James Thompson can rescue you from my hands?" he asked leisurely.
Julia Land looked at the ascending elevator, her palms sweaty with nerves; she was extremely anxious, but she forced a calm demeanor on her face.
She replied nonchalantly, "I don’t know if Mr. Thompson can or can’t rescue me, but considering my life is already in your grasp, please tell me, whose child is the child you’re holding with Chloe Sullivan?"
Although she asked this, her brain was constantly thinking about how to escape.
When Julia Land mentioned the child, Christopher Moore instantly burst with intense hatred. He turned his head toward Eleanor Thompson, who was quiet and not crying, "Just a couple of bastards."
These two were the shame of Anna Thompson, and to protect her reputation, the Thompson Family chose to attach the twins to James Thompson from the beginning.
Their intentions were clear!
It protected Anna’s reputation and shielded the twins from future ridicule.
Christopher Moore sneered, also feeling insulted.
Julia Land was stunned when the man behind her suddenly cursed the twins as bastards; she did not know the details.
Christopher Moore had no intention of explaining further.
With a ’ding’, they arrived at the 15th floor.
*
James Thompson also reached the 15th floor not long after.
Noah Quarter found out from Maya Chant that Julia Land was taken hostage to the rooftop and hurried to the rooftop, frowning deeply.
Leah Thompson frowned, "Noah, where are you going? Noah!"
Noah Quarter had already left, closing the door behind him.
Leah Thompson pointed at that door, nearly dying of anger, "Mom, he must have gone to the rooftop! I wish Julia Land was dead."
Maya Chant also noticed her grandson’s affection for Julia Land. She shook her head; young people without experience in love sometimes only regret when they’ve lost something.
*
On the rooftop terrace.
Julia Land looked at James Thompson sitting in the wheelchair, her red lips slightly moving, her eyes reddening as she placed her hand on her stomach.
James Thompson’s eyes were deep as he stared at Julia Land, his gaze fixed on the knife against her neck.
A helicopter hovered above the rooftop.
Christopher Moore smiled, "James Thompson, I didn’t expect you to have survived, you’re tough to kill."
James Thompson coldly said, "As long as you’re alive, I certainly can’t die either."
Chloe Sullivan’s eyes widened, staring back and forth between the two James Thompsons; it was only at this moment that she belatedly realized the man holding Julia Land hostage was an imposter.
She felt both joy and concern.
Fortunately, William Thompson was safely with the nanny.
The helicopter lowered a ladder.
Christopher Moore stood at the bottom of the ladder, not intending to take both Julia Land and Eleanor Thompson; he only needed one as a hostage.
He looked at James Thompson and asked with malicious pleasure, "James Thompson, I’ll give you a choice: Do you choose to rescue this bastard from my hands, or save Julia Land?"
"Brother Thompson, save Eleanor, please! She’s still so young," Chloe Sullivan tearfully begged, trying to rush to James Thompson’s side but was stopped by Jasper Winters.
"James Thompson, save Julia Land!" Noah Quarter, who had just arrived at the rooftop, said coldly.
Christopher Moore raised an eyebrow, and he leaned in close to Julia Land’s ear, "Little Julia, both your ex and your current are here, let’s see what they choose."
Julia Land scoffed, "You really have a twisted sense of humor."
"Don’t you want to know who James Thompson will choose to save?" Christopher Moore smiled, "James Thompson, I’m giving you the opportunity to choose, and I promise you, I will let one go, otherwise once I get on the plane, I’ll drop the other one into the sea to feed the sharks."
Julia Land actually trusted James Thompson a lot; he would save her, just unsure whether Christopher Moore’s words about releasing someone were true or false.
As Christopher Moore’s voice trailed off.
James Thompson stood up from his wheelchair, Jasper Winters handed him a cane, his surgery couldn’t have healed so quickly, and walking would actually tug at his wound.
"Why not, you release them, and take me as a hostage, what do you say?" James Thompson said indifferently.
Jasper Winters’ complexion changed slightly, "BOSS!"
James Thompson raised his hand, signaling Jasper Winters to hold his tongue.
Christopher Moore evaluated James Thompson’s current physical condition; being medically trained, he clearly saw that James Thompson wasn’t faking with the cane.
Rather than indulging in cruelty, he was more interested in killing James Thompson.
Christopher Moore thought for a moment and smirked, "Throw away your cane, don’t carry any offensive weapons on you, empty your pockets, then come over."
Julia Land looked towards James Thompson and shook her head.
James Thompson smiled at her and tossed the cane away, he walked over.
Watching the interaction between James Thompson and Julia Land, Christopher Moore snorted, "One of you is still going to die, and you can still smile now."
James Thompson was getting closer to Christopher Moore and his group.
Christopher Moore kept a close watch on James Thompson to prevent any tricks, his knife that was originally close to Julia Land’s neck slightly moved away.
James Thompson noticed Christopher Moore’s slight movement of the knife away.
He walked over and, when he was very close, stopped, "You release Julia Land first, and then I’ll continue walking over."
Christopher Moore sneered, "Do you think I’m stupid? I can’t release little Julia first, but I can give back that bastard child to you first."
James Thompson heard Christopher Moore refer to Julia Land as little Julia, and he frowned.
Chloe Sullivan ran over, biting her lip, "Eleanor, give her to me first."
Christopher Moore, "Okay."
He didn’t toss Eleanor Thompson to Chloe Sullivan, but directly to James Thompson.
James Thompson couldn’t just watch an infant get hurt in front of him, he caught Eleanor Thompson, the sudden movement pulling at his surgical wound, causing him to frown.
He handed Eleanor Thompson over to Chloe Sullivan and continued to walk over to rescue Julia Land; he just needed to get close to Christopher Moore to save her.
Bullets pierced the air.
Two bullets, swift and fierce, came from different directions towards Christopher Moore, one towards his head, and one towards his back.
James Thompson’s eyes nearly burst with fury.
Who had given the order to shoot?
Christopher Moore only noticed the bullet coming from the front, at the last moment, he could have pulled Julia Land over to block the most lethal bullet.
But at the critical moment, he chose to dodge instead, a move that was actually very dangerous, a fraction more, and his head would have blown open.
The bullets were extremely fast; these thoughts flashed through his mind almost instantly.
Christopher Moore’s left ear was shot through, he smiled, at least his head hadn’t blown open, but the bullet in his back robbed him of his smile.
The sharp knife in his hand had already cut into Julia Land’s neck, and blood flowed from it.
James Thompson’s eyes red with fury, he rushed over.
"Don’t move! I’ll make sure her head rolls right here!" Christopher Moore waved his hand to signal instructions to the people on the plane.
The people on the plane fired their guns at random towards the ground.
Christopher Moore grabbed hold of the ladder; the ladder ascended, and the plane flew off, with its occupants continuing to shoot towards the rooftop.
As James Thompson watched Julia Land being taken away, he rushed to grab the ladder; Noah Quarter also braved the bullets and charged over.
"Ah! Brother Thompson, save us!" Chloe Sullivan, scared, threw herself toward James Thompson.
James Thompson’s fingers were ready to grab the ladder.
With Chloe Sullivan’s lunge, his whole body shifted, he fiercely pushed Chloe Sullivan away.
Eleanor Thompson flew out of Chloe Sullivan’s arms, heading towards the rooftop’s perimeter wall, equivalent to falling from fifteen stories, the little infant would die a tragic death.
Julia Land blinked, "James Thompson."
James Thompson watched the helicopter fly away with blood-red eyes.
Seeing Eleanor Thompson nearing the wall, he expressionlessly yanked her back.
