Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Hundred Days Banquet1

She definitely couldn’t attend tonight’s Hundred Day Feast in a wedding dress.

James had given her the diamond mermaid dress he had prepared earlier for her to wear.

This time, Julia was extremely uncooperative, "If you force me to wear this, I simply won’t attend."

She had no need to become the center of attention in the room.

In the end, the man compromised, and fortunately, he had prepared another mint green dress, which made her look fresh and beautiful when she put it on.

The design around the waist of the dress ingeniously concealed her still small baby bump.

Julia stood in front of the mirror, lifting her hand to remove the necklace she had worn during their wedding photo shoot, which he had placed around her neck.

"Strange, why can’t I get it off?"

She turned around for the makeup artist to help her unclasp the necklace.

The makeup artist also tried, taking extra care as she was worried about damaging it, aware that she couldn’t afford to pay for any damage.

The makeup artist muttered, "Miss Land, I can’t seem to get it off either."

Julia frowned, wondering what the man was thinking, giving her such a difficult necklace to remove.

She held up her dress and thanked the makeup artist, deciding to go out and have the man take it off for her.

When he saw her holding up her dress and walking out, he stepped forward to help her hold it.

"Mr. Thompson, help me take off the necklace around my neck."

The man leaned in close to her ear, "You look very good with this necklace on, and it matches the dress perfectly. I’ll help you take it off after the banquet is over."

Without him removing it, Julia had no way to proceed.

The necklace did match the dress very well.

There was also a red gemstone in the center of the necklace.

James’s phone rang, it was a call from Maya Chant. As the host of the banquet, he needed to leave early to welcome the guests.

"Little Julia, I need to head to the banquet first. Do you want to rest here or come with me? There’s also a rest room there."

Julia thought for a moment, "You go ahead, I’ll head to the banquet on my own later."

"Are you sure you don’t want to go together?"

"No, I have an appointment to meet Sophia at the hotel where the banquet is being held."

In Capital City, she only knew Sophia Hart, who was currently getting her makeup done. If she went to the banquet now, she would just sit in a corner alone and get bored.

The man nodded, smiling deeply, and patted her stomach, "You can go in later with Sophia Hart. I’ll head out first."

In the hotel rest room for the banquet, after Maya hung up the phone, she turned to Chloe Sullivan, who looked slightly nervous, and smiled warmly, "James is on his way now. When he arrives, the two of you will be responsible for welcoming the VIP guests."

This was a form of recognition.

Chloe’s appearance at this event marked her official introduction as a member of the Thompson Family in greeting distinguished visitors.

Upon hearing that James would be there, she let out a sigh of relief, "Madam, thank you."

Maya couldn’t stay in the rest room forever; she needed to get going.

She turned to Leah Thompson and Eliza Quarter, "You two can stay here. When it’s time, go out with Little Chloe."

Leah stood up, "Mom, I’ll come out with you."

Maya nodded, and after the two of them left the rest room, only Chloe and Eliza remained.

Chloe casually chatted with Eliza, "Eliza, actually, some time ago I asked my mother and your mother to bring up the subject of Thomas and you."

Eliza’s face turned a slight shade of red.

"However, Thomas didn’t agree; he said he already had someone he liked."

"What?" Eliza was astonished, "He already has someone he likes?"

Chloe nodded, she wasn’t deceiving Eliza; she had discussed this with her mother over the phone last night.

Selene Wells had always been trying to find a match for her son Thomas Sullivan, who might have grown tired of it and just said outright that he already had a girl he liked.

However, Selene thought Thomas was just saying it offhand, because when she asked him which family the girl belonged to, he did not reveal it.

Chloe chose only to mention to Eliza that Thomas already had a girl he liked.

Eliza Quarter blinked her eyes and asked in discomfort, "Who is the girl Thomas Sullivan likes?"

It had not been easy for her to muster the courage to pursue someone, only to find out that he already had someone he liked.

Maybe she and he were never meant to be.

Chloe Sullivan shook her head, "Brother Thomas never mentioned it, none of us know. Miss Land used to be his secretary, so she might know something. You could ask her."

Eliza Quarter grimaced, "Julia Land won’t tell me that kind of thing."

She frowned. Could it be that Thomas Sullivan liked Julia Land? He had praised her before!

Chloe Sullivan’s eyes curved into a smile, "Eliza, there are many young men of good family in Capital City. Madam has already picked out some candidates for you. Now that you’re in Capital City, you should get the chance to meet them."

Eliza Quarter showed little interest, "I don’t like them."

In the evening, around six-thirty, various luxury cars started to arrive one by one at the hotel entrance.

James Thompson didn’t need to welcome everyone who came; it depended on whether their status was high enough.

Dressed in a festive and exquisite cheongsam, Chloe Sullivan stood beside James Thompson with a radiating smile.

Her manner in receiving guests was full of grace.

James Thompson looked very well-matched standing next to Chloe Sullivan.

Outside the hotel’s grand entrance.

Sophia Hart and Julia Land arrived at the hotel almost simultaneously.

"Sister Land, your gown is really beautiful," Sophia Hart said with a sweet smile. She took Julia Land’s arm and asked in a lowered voice, "I find it odd, why did they send you an invitation?"

"It doesn’t seem to bode well, but with Brother Thompson here, it should be alright."

"Maybe they want me to accept my fate?" Julia Land said with a smile that held deeper meaning.

They both walked into the hotel.

Thomas Sullivan held a glass of wine, keeping an eye on the entrance. When he saw Sophia Hart and Julia Land enter, chatting and laughing,

he put down his glass and walked over to them.

He greeted them, and his gaze fell on Sophia Hart’s face, which was radiant with a joyful smile that seemed free of any troubles.

Thomas Sullivan turned his gaze away, feeling a bitterness in his heart.

Eliza Quarter’s eyes followed Thomas Sullivan. Seeing him actively engaging in conversation with Julia Land, she pursed her lips.

With his back to the entrance, James Thompson didn’t see that Julia Land had arrived.

But Julia Land did see him standing next to Chloe Sullivan, welcoming the guests.

She laughed to herself.

He wasn’t the real Mr. Thompson, so she wasn’t heartbroken.

Sophia Hart caught sight of James Thompson standing with Chloe Sullivan, and her head started buzzing, wondering what was going on!

Thomas Sullivan couldn’t keep standing with Julia Land, so after a short chat, he left.

Sophia Hart watched Thomas Sullivan’s retreating figure, her eyes falling and feeling somewhat stifled, she followed Julia Land to a less crowded area.

Coincidentally, in this area, Julia Land bumped into Eliza Quarter.

Julia Land had no intention of greeting her.

The two were not on friendly terms.

However, when Eliza Quarter saw Thomas Sullivan’s gaze once again turn towards Julia Land, her face darkened.

So, the girl Thomas Sullivan liked was Julia Land!

She hadn’t given a thought to Sophia Hart—after all, Sophia Hart was Cody Thompson’s third wife, and Chloe Sullivan was about to marry into the Thompson Family. Thomas Sullivan wouldn’t be interested in that kind of woman.

It was Julia Land who had been his secretary before.

Eliza Quarter felt like ants were crawling over her heart, uncomfortable, she looked down at Julia Land with a lofty smile, "Julia Land, you have the nerve to attend the hundred-day celebration?"

Julia Land’s lips curled up into a smirk, her eyebrows lifted in a light smile, "The Thompson Family took the initiative to send me an invitation. Actually, I didn’t really want to come here, but it’s hard to turn down such enthusiasm."

"I really admire your courage," Eliza Quarter covered her red lips and chuckled lightly, "I heard that Mr. Thompson and Miss Sullivan are going to announce their engagement today. Their twin babies are also very adorable."
