Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 166: Fury
Chapter 166: Chapter 166: Fury
Facing Chloe Sullivan’s apology,
Julia Land accepted it calmly before speaking in a bland tone, "Oh, really? You two were together before? Are you sure?"
Chloe Sullivan frowned, "Miss Land, you... never mind, I can’t help it if you don’t believe me."
Upon hearing this, Julia couldn’t help but find it amusing. She chuckled lightly, reclined on the couch, and lazily stroked her belly, saying airily, "Oh, then never mind. I don’t believe it."
Chloe didn’t expect Julia to deviate from the norm. She seemed not to be angry?
"Miss Sullivan, I did hear from Mr. Thompson in my family that the child in your belly belongs to Madeline," Julia said, her words also laced with probing.
"I actually broke up with Madeline long ago," Chloe admitted with an embarrassed smile, "Whether or not the child is Brother Thompson’s, the hundred-day celebration will make everything clear."
"Miss Land, I may speak too bluntly, you may not like it, but you must know that I am recognized by the Thompson Family as the daughter-in-law."
Chloe’s smile remained gentle, "If you want to continue staying by Brother Thompson’s side, I won’t stop you, but as a third party, would you accept it?"
Julia frowned, feeling nauseous. She hadn’t experienced morning sickness since becoming pregnant, but now the urge struck.
She eased the nausea and looked at Chloe seriously, "Miss Sullivan, I feel like vomiting right now, truly sorry, but I must be leaving."
She saw the smile on Chloe’s face disappear in an instant.
Julia raised an eyebrow, adding dryly, "Don’t get me wrong, most pregnant women experience morning sickness. Miss Sullivan, you’ve had a child, you should understand, right?"
Chloe suddenly chuckled, "Miss Land, please go ahead, but you still have time not to want this child."
She looked at Julia with a meaningful gaze, "Maybe the child inside you isn’t even Brother Thompson’s seed."
"What child isn’t mine?"
James Thompson walked in, asking carelessly.
Julia and Chloe both turned their heads.
James had just entered the door when he heard Chloe’s reckless talk; he sat down beside Julia, "Miss Sullivan, you can mess with food, but you shouldn’t mess with words."
Chloe felt sad to be misunderstood by the man she liked; she didn’t expect the words meant to provoke Julia to be heard by him.
She gave James a wry smile, explaining, "Sorry, ignore what I just said."
Chloe stood up, straightened her back, and left the living room in loneliness.
Julia frowned; Chloe’s reaction just now wasn’t quite right.
"Little Pear, are you full? If so, shall I take you to the Thompson Family’s backyard for a walk?"
"Why do you smell like smoke?" Julia had a keen nose.
"Suddenly returning to the Thompson Family, I felt a lot, so I smoked just one cigarette," he raised his hand, sniffed his sleeve, "I don’t smell smoke, do you?"
Seeing him sniffing his own sleeve foolishly, Julia rolled her eyes without words, "You can’t smell your own stench, let’s go. Didn’t you say you’d take me to the backyard?"
The Thompson Family’s backyard was vast.
Julia, seeing no one around, mentioned Chloe’s strange reaction with James.
"Really? Maybe she intentionally wanted to unsettle your mind?" he speculated.
"Maybe."
Julia frowned.

Inside the Thompson Family’s conference room, Cody Thompson had just lost his temper.
The room was dead silent.
He stood up and walked out of the conference room with a cold face.
Assistant Hunter walked beside Cody, reporting, "Butler Huang just sent a message, Mr. Thompson has returned to the Thompson Family."
Cody humphed, "Finally deigns to return. With a pile of affairs at the company and instead of helping with Thompson Family business, he plays doctor. Raised a son that’s turned out to be nothing. Cancel tonight’s schedule."
Assistant Hunter acknowledged.
In the evening, Cody returned home, took a bath, changed into casual clothes, and then went downstairs for dinner.
Everyone was in the living room.
Cody glanced at James and the others, "Let’s go eat first."
Julia was seated next to James.
"Dad, this is my girlfriend Julia Land," James, feigning ignorance of the ominous atmosphere, introduced with a smile, "We’ll get our marriage certificate in a while."
Julia politely greeted everyone.
Cody scrutinized Julia before he looked away; he wasn’t the type to embarrass a girl face-to-face, "Let’s eat."
During the meal, it was very quiet, no one spoke.
James served Julia the dishes she liked.
Julia nudged him lightly with her foot, signaling for him not to serve her.
Chloe glanced at the two opposite her, then lowered her gaze and ate her meal.
After dinner, Julia felt tired.
Afterward, Cody called James to the study.
Julia went back to the room to rest first.
*
Inside the study.
Cody inquired in detail about the affairs in Scott Kingdom, and after James finished explaining, he brought up Christopher Moore.
"The Moore Family has been causing trouble for the Thompson Family due to Christopher’s disappearance. Though the problems aren’t big, they’re quite annoying. Do you know where Christopher is?"
Cody sighed deeply.
James replied indifferently, "I don’t know where he is."
Cody was silent for a while, then opened a drawer, took out a document envelope, and placed it on the table, "Take a look at this paternity test. After reading it, you’ll understand why I hope you marry Chloe."
James raised an eyebrow, heart blooming with joy—could it be that the twins really weren’t his?
Nonchalantly picking up the envelope, he pulled out a report.
It was a paternity test proving a biological relationship.
He looked at Cody, puzzled.
Could it really be James’s offspring?
"Keep looking inside the envelope," Cody urged, referring to another document inside.
Christopher, suppressing the schadenfreude in his heart, continued to pull out another document. After reading it, his initially gleeful expression instantly vanished.
His face darkened terrifyingly.
He held the document, in disbelief.
A rage erupted within him.
How dare they!
The veins on Christopher’s hand stood out in anger.
The twins turned out to be...
He controlled his furious emotions.
Cody spoke calmly, "James, for the twins’ sake, I hope you temporarily marry Chloe, recognizing the two children, and as for the future, you can choose to divorce."
He paused, massaging his brow, continuing, "After the divorce, if you want to be with Julia, I won’t stop you."
The study fell silent for a while.
James crossed his legs, placed the documents back into the envelope with a cold smirk, and hoarsely said, "Fine, I will marry Chloe."
