Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Take My Surname!

Sullivan Family old mansion.

Yan Wenlin and Selene Wells were discussing their upcoming trip to Capital City, as the Sullivan Family couldn’t let Chloe lose face and naturally wanted to give a fine gift to the twins.

After the discussion, Yan Wenlin picked up her teacup and took a few sips before casually asking, "Sister-in-law, has a wife been decided for Thomas yet?"

Selene Wells sighed. She too was frustrated that neither of her sons wished to marry, "Not yet. I’m satisfied, but that rascal isn’t."

"I actually have someone in mind," said Yan Wenlin as she put down her teacup and hesitated for a moment before continuing, "I think Eliza Quarter is quite suitable."

Selene Wells was momentarily speechless, "She won’t do."

Yan Wenlin smiled, "I knew you would say that, but I have my reasons for mentioning Eliza. Just hear me out."

Selene Wells nodded, allowing her to continue.

"The Quarter Family’s background matches well with our Sullivan Family; we all know this. I see that Eliza is very fond of Thomas, and importantly, she isn’t someone who plays too many games."

Selene Wells shook her head with a wry smile, "In the future, when she goes out to socialize and represent Thomas, if she isn’t a bit cunning, it will be Thomas’s and the Sullivan Family’s reputation that suffers."

"We can teach her social skills. Moreover, with the Quarter Family behind her and married into the Sullivan family, in Dunmore City, who would deliberately make things difficult for her?"

"No, she’s too naive. Thomas won’t like her," Selene Wells understood her son all too well.

Yan Wenlin didn’t continue the topic.

After she left the Sullivan Family old mansion, she called Chloe to mention this.

Chloe laughed, "Let it be. They aren’t fated for each other, and our families should be uniting, not creating conflicts."

She was in a good mood recently and wouldn’t be bothered by such trivial matters.

"Miss Sullivan, Miss Lewis has arrived." The servant came to inform Chloe.

Her eyes sparkled slightly, "Mom, I have something to do and will call you later."

She hung up the phone, tidied herself, and went downstairs to meet Chloe Lewis.

Chloe Lewis, the newly appointed CEO of Lewis Clan, had been previously intended by Elder Thompson for a strong alliance marriage with James Thompson, but James had refused at the time.

This was a piece of information Chloe had managed to extract with difficulty from the second lady.

Elder Thompson had once sent James to South Africa to rescue Chloe Lewis who had developed a liking for him, but since he had refused the marriage alliance, Chloe Lewis had moved on.

Her life wasn’t necessarily tied to marriage and love.

Downstairs at the Thompson Family house.

Chloe Lewis, with a hearty smile, played with the twins using a small tambourine.

The children had grown quite a bit and were adorably chubby.

Seeing Chloe Lewis play with the twins, Chloe smiled and said, "CEO beauty, what brings you here today?"

"I brought you something. I saw it while on a business trip, quite rare, so I specifically bought it to give to you."

Chloe Lewis took a box from her assistant and opened it, "This is an emerald necklace. Unfortunately, I had initially wanted to buy another necklace, but someone else beat me to it."

Chloe was astounded by Chloe Lewis’s grand gesture.

The necklace was worth at least a hundred million.

She smiled warmly, "Thank you, but please don’t bring such expensive gifts next time."

Chloe Lewis, with a sweeping gesture and her hair cut short, looked decisive, "It’s nothing, just a blessing for you and James. I have a meeting soon, so I’ll be leaving first."

Chloe amiably saw Chloe Lewis out.

Chloe knew that Chloe Lewis was kind to her for James’s sake.

She had been able to integrate into the Capital City circles so quickly partially because of Chloe Lewis’s help.

After Sister Fang prepared dinner, she would go home.

After Julia and the others finished eating, James would be responsible for cleaning the dishes.

Julia leisurely walked around the courtyard to digest before returning to her room to take a bath.

When she came out of the bathroom, she saw that James was sitting on the sofa in the bedroom, and there were some additional paper cranes on the coffee table.

He was still folding them.

The various colored paper cranes looked quite pretty.

Julia was surprised, "Mr. Thompson, I didn’t expect you to fold these. You really can’t tell."

He hadn’t expected himself to have such a skill either, "I’ll make you a flower."

He was halfway through when he suddenly stopped.

Wait a minute.

Why did he have to fold these silly things?

Julia urged him, "Hurry up and fold, I want to see the flower later."

She went to the vanity first and grabbed a bottle of moisturizing face lotion.

The main light in the bedroom was on, making it very bright. The man turned his head towards the vanity and threw the half-folded flower on the table, "I’m going to take a shower."

No more folding.

The man deeply reflected on his actions, realizing there was no need to go to such lengths just to please someone.

Inside the bathroom, the sound of splashing water soon emerged.

Julia gently closed the cap of the toner and walked over to the sofa, glanced at the half-folded flower, her thoughts unknown.

Just then, a monotone ringtone suddenly sounded.

She looked towards the source and saw it was the man’s phone ringing on the sofa.

Julia checked the caller ID, which showed it was from Capital City. She looked towards the bathroom, picked up the phone, and walked there.

"Mr. Thompson, your phone is ringing."

The man suddenly opened the bathroom door slightly, and their gazes met instantly.

Julia, "?"

She looked straight ahead and handed the phone to him.

He glanced at the caller ID, didn’t take the phone but instead unlocked it, slid to answer, and turned on speakerphone.

A serious and calm male voice came from the other end, "James Thompson, when do you plan to return to Capital City? I need to talk to you in person about the twins."

Julia froze with the phone still in her hand, a bit slow to react.

How could this man still answer the phone like this?

She looked up towards the bathroom.

He was rinsing his hair under the water.

Julia’s gaze didn’t wander downward but upward, somehow feeling awkward.

"James Thompson, are you listening to me?" Cody Thompson frowned as he didn’t hear James respond.

The call went silent instantly.

Julia, responsible for holding the phone, couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth and said straightaway, "James Thompson is showering right now, and he’s not available to talk."

Cody Thompson, hearing a woman’s voice, reacted and said, "You must be Miss Land, right?"

Julia calmly replied, "No, I’m Miss Lee."

Cody Thompson was surprised by his mistake, "I apologize."

Showering, James Thompson glanced at Julia with a subtly deeper look in his eyes.

Julia continued pretending to be Miss Lee, "Please call back later, thank you."

The man wiped the water from his face, silently smiled, turned off the showerhead, grabbed a towel, wrapped it around his waist, and stepped out.

Just as Julia was about to hang up, James took the phone away and said to Cody Thompson on the other end, "Next week I’ll return to Capital City, and I’ll bring my girlfriend with me."

Cody Thompson felt slightly uneasy. Unaware that James had switched on the loudspeaker, he said sternly, "I advise you not to bring Miss Land, but of course, if you insist, I can’t do anything about it."

The call hung up.

James looked at the now dark screen, then turned his eyes towards Julia.

Julia’s face looked troubled.

"Little Pear, just let my dad’s words go in one ear and out the other."

His hair still dripping wet, he saw that Julia looked upset.

So, with his wet hair, he nuzzled up to Julia’s head.

Julia, "!"

Her hair got wet instantly.

She pushed his head away, very firmly stating, "I don’t want to go to Capital City anymore, go back by yourself."

Why should she suffer? If they didn’t welcome her, then she just wouldn’t go. It’s not like she’d be missing a part of herself.

"I’m not going to Capital City with you anymore, the kids will take my last name, Land!"
