Chapter 162: Chapter 162 What Use Are You

Mrs. Yan’s words were too insulting.

However, an elderly lady responded, "A girl should respect herself and not always look for shortcuts."

Julia Land glanced at the elderly lady and smiled faintly, "You’re really a good person."

She turned to Mrs. Yan, "Please relay this message to your daughter and tell her to respect herself a bit more."

Mrs. Yan glared at Julia, "You...."

Noah Quarter’s expression also turned cold, "Mrs. Yan, you should be more careful with your words."

"Director Quarter, you’re just too gentlemanly, even speaking up for your ex-wife."

Mrs. Yan chuckled, "Fine, Miss Land, I kindly advised you, but if you don’t want to listen, that’s up to you." She turned to her assistant, "Let’s go, we have other appointments in the afternoon."

Mrs. Yan had just left.

A man came holding the already settled bill and smiled at Julia, "Little Julia, the bill is settled, let’s go."

Mrs. Yan turned back when she saw James Thompson returning; her expression suddenly changed.

Her face went from green to white.

James Thompson was actually accompanying Julia Land for a prenatal checkup!

A few people around who loved gossip recognized James Thompson. They had looked down on Julia because of Mrs. Yan’s words.

Now seeing James Thompson, they were surprised.

It seemed that Julia had a way with men.

And Mr. Thompson even had a romantic relationship with Julia.

If Chloe Sullivan were to get married later, she would probably feel frustrated.

When Julia saw James coming back, she angrily glared at him, "What took you so long to pay? Someone just insulted me, saying the child in my belly is illegitimate!"

"Who was so blind?" The man was astounded, then frowned, "We’ll go to Capital City next month to get our marriage license! Let’s see who dares to insult our child."

He put his arm around Julia’s shoulder, his gaze coldly sweeping past Noah Quarter.

"Little Julia, don’t be angry. Let’s eat out at noon, what would you like to eat?"

"Eat, eat, eat, I’m already fed up with anger," Julia, already irritable due to her pregnancy, had her mood ruined today, "Everyone’s waiting to see my joke at the hundred days feast."

The man gently and cautiously asked, "What exactly happened when I wasn’t here? Who upset you?"

Noah Quarter’s cold gaze fell on the retreating figure of James Thompson holding Julia.

His lips pursed, his thoughts murky.

Even though James also had a child with Chloe, why could Julia accept James?

He absolutely couldn’t just watch them be together; there must be a way to split them up.

Noah Quarter left with a cold face.

Julia got into the car, taking out the ultrasound picture of the fetus to continue admiring it.

She needed to relax.

She somewhat felt the child was everything, and the child’s father could stand aside for now.

She glanced at the man beside her, "Mr. Thompson, let me make it clear to you, I can raise the child alone, understand?"

"Understood!"

The man shrunk to the side, not daring to say another word.

Julia snorted coldly, focusing back on the ultrasound picture. She didn’t quite understand what the CRL measurement noted on the picture was. She took out her phone to search.

Before she could find the answer, James Thompson stretched his neck and said, "That’s the crown-rump length."

Julia sneered, "I didn’t ask you to answer; I can look it up myself. When you needed to be there, you weren’t, and when not needed, you’re an eyesore. What use are you?"

The man, "...."

He talked too much.

Mrs. Cheng watched the whole drama unfold and quickly took out her phone to call Leah Thompson, telling her about what she had just encountered.

"Your son just helped Miss Land out."

Leah frowned in disgust upon hearing this. Why again was it Julia? What was so good about that woman?

"Thank you for telling me, I’ll treat you to tea sometime." Leah smiled.

She had originally planned to invite Noah Quarter to Capital City next month to attend the Thompson family’s twins’ hundred days feast.

But now, she decided not to call him.

To avoid complications.

The angriest person today was probably Mrs. Yan, who didn’t expect James Thompson to accompany Julia to the hospital.

Now, she wondered if anyone would laugh at her daughter.

After seeing the doctor, she left the hospital and immediately called Chloe Sullivan.

She frowned, "Chloe, Julia Land is pregnant."

Chloe was reviewing the list of attendees for the banquet, needing to understand these people better.

"Mom, I already knew that."

"What? You knew already, you... are you going soft?" Mrs. Yan frowned.

"Mom, I can’t do that. Brother Thompson would think I’m heartless, and there’s no need for that now," Chloe chuckled slightly. Who knows if Julia can even carry the child to term.

"Mom, how did you know Julia was pregnant?" she asked, putting down the guest list.

"I saw them at the hospital today, and James was with her." Mrs. Yan dared not mention more about her derogatory remarks towards Julia at the hospital.

Chloe went dark when she heard that James accompanied Julia for a prenatal checkup, as it was Jiang who went with her.

"I just insulted Julia a few times, and Noah saw it; he even stepped in to defend her. He couldn’t possibly still have feelings for his ex-wife, could he?"

"He helped Julia?"

"Yes, I’m puzzled. In the past, Noah had plenty of conflicts with Julia, so why is he speaking up for her now?"

Chloe pondered for a moment. Noah, huh?

Perhaps she could...

"Mom, I have to go; remember to mention Eliza’s matter to Aunt."

"Alright."

After dining out, Julia and James returned home. She saw several boxes placed on the living room table.

She sat on the sofa, her straight, pale legs stretched out, "Did you buy these? What’s in the boxes?"

The man also sat on the sofa, his narrow eyes smiling, his mouth corners curled up, "I bought you a gown and some jewelry. You’ll be the most beautiful one at the banquet."

He leaned forward, his long fingers opening the boxes one by one.

"Putting on this gown and wearing this jewelry, you’ll be the belle of the ball, Little Julia. How about that?"

The man lifted the gown to show Julia, hoping for praise.

Julia reached behind and grabbed a pillow, throwing it at the man’s arm, "Do you think I’m a fish!"

A mermaid gown adorned with diamond sequins.

Whoever wears it, shines.
