Chapter 160: Chapter 160: The Feast at Hongmen

Quarter Group.

Alexander Strong was reporting the incident at the North Thinking Restaurant to Noah Quarter.

"Those two girls were brought in temporarily by someone, who told them to say those words in the bathroom."

Crude and clumsy tactics.

A simple investigation would reveal them, which made the approach all the more strange.

A deliberate obfuscation.

"They were all contacted online, we can’t find out who is behind it."

Who was behind it, and what was their motive?

There is always a motive for everything.

Noah’s eyes grew cold as he thought about the two women mentioning him and Julia Land; if they weren’t targeting him, they were targeting Julia.

He called Leah Thompson first to tell her what he had found out, to save his mother from encountering such incidents again.

After hanging up with Noah, Leah immediately complained to Maya Chant over the phone, "Can you believe someone came up to me and babbled about Noah getting back with his ex-wife? Are they insane?"

"Mom, do you think I should set up Noah, find him a well-matched woman? Little Bebe is still young, she wouldn’t mind if Dad remarries."

Maya was enjoying a SPA treatment when she heard Leah’s remarks, raising an eyebrow, "You think Noah would listen to you? Don’t be foolish."

Her daughter was already of age but still so naive.

Leah was at a loss for words after the quick retort and switched to gossiping about something else, bringing up Chloe Sullivan and asking, "James Thompson is back, but how come there’s no talk of him and Chloe?"

"You might hear about it if you come to the twins’ hundred days celebration."

Maya, as Cody Thompson’s confidante, knew some things since she was in charge of arranging the banquet.

Leah was taken aback, "Wouldn’t that be awkward for Julia?"

Whether Julia felt awkward or not had nothing to do with the second Mrs. Thompson, who had just finished her call with Leah, when Chloe Sullivan called her.

"Chloe, what can I do for you?"

"Mrs. Thompson, could I have an invitation?" Chloe admired the Thompson Family’s back garden as she asked softly.

She hadn’t managed to talk things over with James Thompson on her last trip to Dunmore City, so she could only wait for the twin’s hundred days celebration to speak with him once he returned.

Maya didn’t ask Chloe what she needed an invitation for; she just chuckled and replied, "I’ll have the Butler Huang give it to you."

"Thank you."

Not long after Chloe hung up, Butler Huang came and handed her an invitation.

She bit her lip, smiling slightly, and carried the invitation back to her bedroom. She took out a pen and wrote down Julia Land’s name.

After writing the name, she glanced at the invitation, slipped it into the envelope, wrote out the address, and sent the letter to the Sullivan Family home first—her mother would understand her intent.

Chloe called over the nanny, "Please mail this out."

Jason arrived at the Chinese-style villa.

He was hypnotizing Julia Land once again.

Hypnosis was not as omnipotent as portrayed in television; he could only provide suggestive guidance.

As Julia woke up again, James Thompson held her fingers with a smile on his lips, "We have to go to the hospital for the prenatal checkup tomorrow."

She frowned slightly, her mind blanking for a moment before she calmed herself down and relaxed a bit, smiling in response, "Okay."

Her smile was charming and attractive, devoid of the coldness of recent days, and she was pleased at the mention of a prenatal checkup.

The man’s eyes shimmered as he let go of her hand.

"I’m going to read to the child."

Whenever he had time, he would read to the fetus in Julia’s womb, finding a bit of pleasure in the activity.

If his safety and the child were still here, he thought he would probably be doing this daily prenatal education.

The man allowed a cold, fleeting smile to cross his lips.

Every time Julia heard him reading the obscure medical books, she wanted to fall asleep.

Sophia Hart called Julia just as she was about to nod off.

Julia tilted her chin up, gesturing for James to leave, and only then did she start the video call with Sophia, laughing.

Sophia scrutinized Julia closely, "Julia, it seems like your face has gotten a bit rounder."

Julia, "......I have been eating well recently and haven’t been exercising."

A lifestyle of eating and sleeping was bound to lead to weight gain.

"I’m telling you, the Thompson Family has sent out invitations for the twins’ hundred days celebration next month, making it a big deal."

Sophia pouted, annoyed, "Why wouldn’t Brother Thompson stop it?"

Julia was puzzled by this question as well, "I’ll ask for his thoughts in a bit."

"You should clear that up, and I’m flying out to Grace City in a few days to stay a while. My parents come to visit me at the Thompsons every so often. Last time they came, they secretly gave me a bottle of pills for men’s stamina; I nearly died of frustration."

Sophia grew red-faced as she mentioned it.

Unfortunately, Chloe and the second Mrs. Thompson overheard at the time.

Julia, "...."

Sophia’s parents really were unreliable; no wonder she didn’t want to go back to Capital City.

"Well, when you’re in Grace City, I’ll come to visit if I have time."

After a bit more chatting, they ended the call.

Julia stared at the phone, lost in thought for a while, then put down her device and yelled towards the study, "Mr. Thompson, come out, we need to talk."

The man in the study knew he was in trouble from Julia’s loud calling.

He sighed.

He sauntered out slowly, wearing a smile, "What’s up?"

"Come and sit, we need to talk." Julia waited for James to sit down before she started talking about the twins’ hundred days celebration.

"Don’t rush; we will be going to Capital City next month too. The old man is very stubborn; he won’t agree to cancel the celebration."

Cody Thompson had been assertive his entire life and would not easily change his decisions.

Julia looked skeptically at James, "Don’t you have any plan?"

The man spoke forthrightly, "I do, I’m going to present a paternity test at the banquet."

"...."

Julia was momentarily rendered speechless.

The topic of the banquet went by with just two days passing.

In the morning, Julia received a piece of mail.

James walked in from outside and handed her the envelope, "Little Julia, here’s your mail."

"Strange, who sent me a letter?"

Julia put down the remote control, took the envelope and tore it open.

James sat by her side as she pulled out an invitation from the envelope.

The invitation was elegant and generous. She opened it to look.

It was an invite for Julia to attend the twins’ hundred days celebration in Capital City.

After reading it, Julia stuffed the invitation into James’ arms, "What does this mean?"

James glanced over the invitation, raised an eyebrow, and replied casually, "Literally, it means you’re invited to the twins’ hundred days celebration."

Julia held her belly, reflecting, "Is this a trap? Should I go?"

The man’s face showed a gentle smile, "What’s there to fear? Go ahead; I’ll be there too. I’ll protect you, no need to worry."
