Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 153: Terrifying
Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Terrifying
Julia Land’s sense of crisis was acute.
He called her Julia Land.
She immediately covered her face with her hands and, blushing, looked towards the man approaching, "I just thought of the child’s name."
The man smiled faintly, sitting beside her, his hand resting on the back of the sofa behind her, "Oh, what’s it called?"
Maybe the child will never be born.
"Called James King!" Julia Land excitedly grasped his other arm, looking at him, "Does the child’s father think it sounds good?"
"....."
Was this woman joking?
James King?
He glanced down at the hand gripping his arm and fell silent for a moment.
She probably hadn’t become suspicious yet.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so excited to discuss the child’s name with him.
Never mind, whether she was suspicious or not, everything would be resolved once Jason arrived tomorrow.
"James Thompson, don’t you think James King sounds good, very domineering?"
The man nodded lazily and responded in a deep voice, "Mmm, it does sound good."
Julia Land nearly spit on him, how could that sound good, it’s true that only someone who wasn’t the real father would react like that.
Who on earth had transformed into Mr. Thompson’s appearance? They even managed frighteningly to mimic James Thompson’s usual way of speaking to a tee.
As the saying goes, the person who knows you best is always your enemy.
A lightbulb went off in Julia Land’s head as she suddenly thought of something.
Christopher Moore?
James Thompson’s sworn enemy.
Julia Land wasn’t sure if it was Christopher Moore, but she could try to test him.
This man had said that Christopher Moore was James Thompson’s sister’s fiancé if she...
Never mind, for the sake of the baby in her belly, Julia Land decided to play it safe and not test him for now.
"Mr. Thompson, for lunch I only ordered pizza, did you order anything else?"
"Noble Grid Hotel’s meal."
"Oh, why is it Noble Grid Hotel again?"
Julia Land purposefully leaned her head on the man’s shoulder, acting dependent on him.
She had a hunch, if this man truly was Christopher Moore, he probably wouldn’t make any more intimate moves on her, like kissing, he wouldn’t do that.
There were two reasons for this analysis. First, she was James Thompson’s woman, technically half a sister-in-law to James Thompson’s sister.
Second, after the death of James Thompson’s sister, Christopher Moore went mad, a madness fueled by hate towards those who caused the death of his love.
So, in conclusion, this man probably wouldn’t betray his deceased lover by making intimate moves on her.
Julia Land finally felt relieved for the time being; at least she didn’t need to act to the point of kissing or sleeping together.
The pizza and the meal from Noble Grid Hotel arrived almost simultaneously.
Julia Land smiled as she took a bite from the extra chicken drumstick she ordered, feigning affection as she brought the almost finished drumstick to the man’s lips, "Mr. Thompson, ah."
"..." James Thompson smiled, "Eat it yourself."
This woman must be crazy, offering him a chicken drumstick that’s almost finished.
Julia Land glared at him, "Are you starting to despise my saliva? I’m just pregnant, and you already despise me!"
She started crying as she spoke.
Where on earth had her Mr. Thompson gone to?
If he didn’t come back soon, he would be left to collect the bodies of her and her child.
The man felt speechless, "Wait, why are you crying now? I’ll eat, I’ll eat, isn’t that alright? I don’t despise you."
How could this woman be so melodramatic in private, he wondered what James Thompson loved about her?
Julia Land laughed through her tears, passing over the last bite of the drumstick to him.
As she watched him lower his head to eat that bite of a drumstick, rather than feeling vengeful happiness, a sense of fear took hold in her heart.
Julia Land suspected this man’s motives were anything but simple; otherwise, he wouldn’t have endured eating the leftovers from her.
Was he doing it to spite James Thompson? That didn’t seem quite right because he wouldn’t really touch her, so what exactly was the reason?
Julia Land stealthily took another slice of pizza, eating it while she slowly speculated about the man’s motives.
Suddenly, she thought of the child.
Could this man’s real motive be the child?
The thought was terrifying.
Thinking of her own child, her elbow accidentally knocked into the beverage, tipping it over.
With a crash, the iced tea inside the paper cup spilled all over the floor.
The man looked at Julia Land.
Julia Land looked back innocently and said, "Mr. Thompson, about the floor, I didn’t do it on purpose."
The man looked at her for a second, curved his lips into a smile, extended his hand and took the pizza she had sneakily grabbed, "Someone will come to handle this soon, you should eat the nutrition meal."
Julia Land wasn’t upset about the pizza being taken away; instead, she silently applauded herself for her quick reaction, trying to alleviate her own stress.
In the afternoon, Julia Land had to be on an IV drip.
She watched her series while on the drip, and the man in the sickroom seemed to be working.
The two were temporarily at peace with each other.

Meanwhile, Lily Grant left the hospital, thinking more and more about what Julia Land had secretly told her, and the more she thought about it, the more terrified she became.
Something must have happened to Julia Land.
She planned to discuss it with Alexander Strong when he got home from work.
Alexander Strong was smarter than she was, and surely he would have a way to help Julia Land.
Lily Grant had driven herself to the hospital that day and was waiting at a red light when her car suddenly made a loud ’bang.’
She was thrown forward against the steering wheel.
Lily Grant, in a state of shock, clutched her chest in pain.
A taxi had rear-ended the private car in front.
The female driver quickly got out and approached the damaged car’s driver’s side, tapping on the window, "Young lady, are you alright? I’m going to call an ambulance right now."
Lily Grant, sweating profusely and clutching her chest, managed to open the car door, too pained to speak.
The impact of the rear-end collision wasn’t extremely forceful, but her chest hurt from hitting the steering wheel.
While waiting for the ambulance, the female driver also called the police and honestly admitted that she had rear-ended another vehicle.
Drivers passing by stopped to see what had happened, but seeing that Lily Grant wasn’t bleeding and was conscious, they drove away.
The ambulance arrived quickly.
The nurses helped Lily Grant out and onto the ambulance.
The ambulance left.
The female driver waited anxiously on the spot for the police.
Shortly after getting on the ambulance, Lily Grant passed out.
*
That evening,
When Alexander Strong came home from work and didn’t see Lily Grant, he immediately sensed that something had happened.
He made several calls, but Lily Grant didn’t answer any of them.
So he called Julia Land to ask if she had seen Lily Grant that day.
Lily Grant had said she would visit Julia Land at the hospital.
"She came to the hospital to see me at noon. Can’t you get through to her on the phone now?" Julia Land suddenly looked up.
She was shocked and turned her gaze to the man sitting on the sofa.
James Thompson noticed Julia Land’s gaze, lifted his eyelids, and gently asked, "Little Julia, is something the matter?"
Julia Land’s bright eyes stared at the man, anger filled her heart, but she said to Alexander Strong on the phone, "I’ll have James Thompson send someone to look for her."
Alexander Strong had his own connections. He also sent people to look for Lily Grant.
After hanging up the phone, Julia Land, trying to control the anger inside her, expressed her concern to the man, "Mr. Thompson, Lily Grant is missing. Can you send someone to help find her?"
The man raised his eyebrows in surprise, now certain that this woman had no suspicions of him.
But he always covered his tracks fully.
He had only intended to keep Lily Grant unconscious until the next day to ensure his plans for tomorrow could proceed smoothly.
Seeing Julia Land staring intently at him, he kindly agreed, "I’ll help you look for some people."
He made several phone calls to his subordinates to find someone.
Julia Land’s hand under the blanket clenched the fabric tightly, her palms sweating.
Acting in front of a terrifying man was a dreadful thing.
Julia Land truly regretted it; if anything happened to Lily Grant, she would never forgive herself.
Lily Grant and Austin Langston were different.
Austin Langston’s initial connection with her was based on a mutual understanding that it was a transaction.
But Lily Grant had really been dragged into this mess by her.
The man’s schemes were terrifying and flawless.
Julia Land was now one hundred percent certain he wasn’t James Thompson, and the last bit of faint hope in her heart was shattered.
After hanging up the phone, the man walked over to the bedside and lifted Julia Land’s face with his well-defined hand.
Seeing her anxious expression, he comforted her with gentle words, "Don’t worry, she won’t come to any harm."
