Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 149: All Jittery
Chapter 149: Chapter 149: All Jittery
Just as James Thompson was about to kiss her,
Julia Land pretended to cough and turned her head away.
Although she was ready to admit she had paranoid delusions, something felt off.
Logically, if she saw James Thompson alive, she should have passionately kissed him.
"Damn, in this hot weather, am I getting a cold?" Julia Land frowned and sniffed.
James Thompson looked at her deeply, pained by how she not only lost weight but also looked very unwell, "Little Pear, don’t forget, I’m a doctor. I’ll take you to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow."
"Tomorrow won’t work, let’s pick another day. I’m going to a friend’s birthday celebration tomorrow," Julia lowered her eyes and explained.
In reality, she had an appointment with a psychologist in the morning, then she was going to attend Lily Grant’s birthday celebration at Alexander Strong’s house in the afternoon.
James Thompson frowned, clearly disapproving, "Do you really have to go? You look really pale."
"Yep, I’m going. I look bad because I’ve been worried about you, but now that you’re back, I can get a good night’s sleep, and I’ll feel better tomorrow."
Julia Land casually waved her hand.
Seeing her insistence, James Thompson didn’t continue to persuade her, "Fine, I can never win against you."
Julia Land smiled with curved eyes.
Their conversation ended just as the meal from the Noble Grid Hotel was being delivered.
The table was set with dishes brought from Noble Grid Hotel.
Orange goose liver, creamy abalone stew, red rose wild chicken soup, roasted duck, and clay pot rice— all were her favorite dishes.
James Thompson picked up some goose liver and fed her, "Little Pear, eat well."
His words, his gaze, all doting and heartwrenching.
Julia Land ate the goose liver James fed her, using the atmosphere typical of their daily interactions, she playfully said, "You don’t need to feed me; you eat yours. Feeding me actually slows down my eating."
"This is called being romantic," James Thompson teased Julia, and upon seeing her glare, immediately added, "Okay, I’ll stop feeding you."
Julia Land ate a few more bites and then started casually, "Mr. Thompson, do you remember that time we drove all night..."
"Mmm, drove all night, of course, I remember," James Thompson looked at her meaningfully.
"...Mr. Thompson, be serious, I’m serious," Julia chided him.
James Thompson immediately responded seriously, "Are you talking about our trip to Long State City? Why bring that up all of a sudden? Also, Little Pear, you’ve been acting a bit strange towards me today."
He was very smart.
Julia Land suddenly realized that she could no longer keep prodding James Thompson with her nervous questions.
She just quietly ate her meal.
After eating, they sat on the couch.
He held her, savoring this moment of tranquility.
Julia Land leaned into James Thompson’s embrace and didn’t move.
She closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep.
She could feel his gaze upon her.
Not knowing how long had passed, he gently carried her to the bedroom and placed her on the bed.
James Thompson stood by the bed, looking at Julia Land.
He bent down, his long fingers gently brushing the hair on her forehead.
He leaned close to her.
Julia Land had already sensed the breath near her lips.
She tensely thought about opening her eyes.
Her back was sweaty.
She thought he would take the opportunity to kiss her, but he stopped.
Julia Land internally relaxed.
James Thompson’s deep gaze lingered on Julia Land’s face, and he sighed softly, "Have a good sleep."
He walked out of the bedroom.
Julia Land turned over, laying on her side, and slowly opened her eyes.
Though she thought James Thompson’s return meant she could finally sleep well at home,
She didn’t.
She half-slept, restless in her slumber.
*
"I suspect that my boyfriend isn’t my real boyfriend."
Julia Land was at the psychologist.
It was a different hospital than the one she registered with yesterday.
Last night, James Thompson held her while she slept.
To prevent James Thompson from noticing her insomnia, her brain forced her to keep her eyes shut.
She must truly be going crazy.
Julia Land felt completely drained.
She needed a doctor to tell her right now that she was mentally stable.
This morning, James Thompson had driven her to Alexander Strong’s house, and after she got out of the car and James had left, she took a taxi to this hospital.
The doctor had started by discussing other matters with Julia, steering the conversation.
"Miss Land, you...."
Suddenly, the doctor was interrupted as a man burst through the door, acting insane.
Julia, nervous, clutched her stomach and hurriedly shrank into a corner.
The doctor was choked by the madman.
Julia looked around for something to hit the man with, but unfortunately, there was nothing near her.
Someone from outside rushed in and pulled the madman away.
After this disturbance.
It was no longer possible for the doctor to continue the consultation.
Julia felt a sense of relief, but she faintly felt a pain in her abdomen.
She crouched down, holding her stomach.
A nurse noticed Julia in the corner.
A man walked in and saw her as well.
"Little Julia."
A familiar voice called out, and as Julia looked up, the man picked her up.
"Mr. Thompson."
James Thompson held her in his arms, looking upset.
"James, my stomach, the baby..." Julia tried to remain calm, slowly inhaling, "My stomach hurts a bit, what should I do, will the baby be..."
"The baby? There will be no issues, I’m here, it’s alright, dear," James reassured her as he carried her out of the consulting room and into the elevator, softly soothing her, "Don’t forget, I used to be a gynecologist."
At that moment, all of Julia’s hesitation and anxiety stabilized because of James’s calming words.
It was all her fault for not admitting she was ill, which led her to secretly see the doctor.
It was because she had secretly gone to see the doctor that she encountered the madman who suddenly burst into the consulting room.
The baby was saved by a close call.
But the doctor said she should now rest in bed as much as possible for three months to protect her pregnancy.
"Doctor, thank you," James thanked Dr. Shaw.
Dr. Shaw smiled benevolently, "You young man, take good care of your wife. When did you get married? You didn’t invite your teacher to the wedding."
James coughed embarrassingly, "We aren’t married yet, but it will be soon, and we will definitely invite you."
Dr. Shaw nodded, "You’re a doctor yourself; you should know what to be aware of. You must take good care this time."
James nodded.
Julia, lying in the hospital bed and listening to the conversation between James and Dr. Shaw, deeply regretted doubting James.
After James saw Dr. Shaw to the door of the ward, he turned and walked back to the bed, pulling up a chair to sit down.
He took Julia’s other hand that was not hooked to an IV.
His large hand warmed her cold one, his voice deep, "You were pregnant, why didn’t you tell me yesterday? If I hadn’t happened to come to this hospital to see the doctor today and found you, would you still have kept it from me?"
"Little Julia, what exactly happened during the time I was away?"
Listening to James’s gentle yet worried voice, Julia’s eyes welled up, "Sorry, I... The doctor diagnosed me with paranoid delusion, I... suspected you weren’t James."
James was taken aback by this revelation, and his expression turned remorseful. He kissed the back of her hand, "Little Julia, it’s okay now, don’t cry, it’s all my fault."
Julia’s eyelids battled, and after relaxing her tense emotions, inhaling the hospital’s disinfectant, she soon fell asleep.
Seeing that Julia had fallen asleep, James gently tucked her hand under the blanket.
His gaze was intensely focused on Julia.
*
Julia slept for a long time.
When she woke up again, it was already dark outside.
She gently turned her head and saw James resting in the chair next to the bed.
He had unbuttoned a few buttons, revealing his chest, still covered with a gauze bandage.
That was where he was hurt.
How could she doubt that the man before her wasn’t Mr. Thompson?
She decided to fully cooperate with the psychological treatment.
Just as she made this resolution,
her gaze fixed on James’s collarbone and suddenly froze, there....
