Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 148: James Thompson Returns
Chapter 148: Chapter 148: James Thompson Returns
Someone was out to get her.
Julia Land furrowed her brows, planning to switch to another hospital for psychiatric consultation.
She didn’t believe she had developed paranoid delusions.
Noah Quarter glanced at Julia trying to stay calm, "It’s a green snake, non-venomous. You wait outside for me."
He held a coat in his hand, preparing to step inside.
Julia clutched Noah’s sleeve, "Wait, what are you going in for? I’ll call professional snake catchers."
The man lowered his eyes and scanned the two pale fingers on his sleeve.
Just two fingers, a distant gesture.
"It’s not venomous. I’ll catch it. By the time the professionals arrive, it might have slithered into the room."
He coldly stated the facts.
The thought made Julia’s skin crawl.
Imagine, she had been sleeping, and suddenly a snake appears on the bed...
Julia immediately released Noah’s sleeve.
Noah slightly curved his lips, handing over the coat he held to Julia.
He quietly stepped toward the money tree plant.
Julia held the door handle, ready to slam it shut if the snake dashed towards her.
Sensing someone approaching, the snake twisted its body and quickly moved away.
A foot stepped on its tail, and then it was grasped firmly by the nape.
Noah’s slender fingers held the green snake.
He turned around and looked out the door at Julia.
Noah saw that Julia was ready to shut the door, trapping him and the snake inside.
His smile was ambiguous as he eyed Julia.
"It’s safe to come in. Find something for me to put it in."
Julia laughed awkwardly, stepped inside, and glanced at the green snake, her skin crawling.
She went into the kitchen to find a bottle or similar container.
It was Noah’s first time here.
The decor was warm.
Julia and James Thompson had once lived here.
His eyes dimmed slightly.
Julia, in the kitchen, also found an empty bottle.
It had been bought by James, seeing her struggling with the bitterness of her medicine, specifically for her to have candy instead.
She poured the remaining candies into a bag and then took the empty bottle out.
As she walked out of the kitchen, she saw the snake in Noah’s hand had stopped moving.
"It’s fainted," Noah said quietly.
He had Julia place the bottle on the ground, dropped the snake into it, and screwed the lid tight.
"Where can I wash my hands?" he asked as he stood up. "You’re not going to let me wash my hands and just send me on my way, are you?"
His tone was calm.
Julia smirked slightly and led him to the kitchen.
After Noah washed his hands, he walked past her and suddenly stopped.
He looked down at Julia.
His uniquely cold aura.
Julia looked up, stepping back, "Thank you for today."
She was ready to immediately search online for a new place to live. There was an unsettling aura everywhere here.
Seeing her step back, Noah withdrew his gaze, "Julia, are you that scared of me?"
"Little Pear, I’m back."
The casual, husky voice came from the entrance.
Julia instinctively turned her head and saw James Thompson entering the living room.
The surprise and shock came suddenly.
"James Thompson!"
Julia’s mood soared as she walked over; she remembered the child in her womb and didn’t walk too quickly.
Noah watched Julia’s joyful figure rushing towards James, his lips pursing slightly, his cold eyes watching James.
James Thompson was supposed to be dead.
What happened with Christopher Moore? Did the plan fail?
Julia had now reached James. She was about to throw herself into his arms, to embrace him.
But when she was a fist’s distance away, she abruptly stopped.
James’s face was still swollen, looking somewhat terrifying.
"What happened to your face?"
"Caught in an explosion."
James laughed softly, pulling the woman in front of him into his embrace, "Little Pear, I’ve missed you so much."
Julia obediently leaned into James’s embrace, sniffing his scent.
There was no familiar scent of pine.
Perhaps because he had just come back from Scott Stronghold.
Actually, Julia had stopped because for a moment, she felt that Mr. Thompson’s smile was a bit unfamiliar?
Julia thought she was being silly.
Mr. Thompson’s face was injured after all, his smile would naturally be different.
Julia admonished herself not to be overly suspicious; someone had been trying to mess with her lately.
She wasn’t sick.
Noah Quarter watched coldly as the two embraced in the room.
His gaze met James Thompson’s.
Both averted their gaze faintly.
Noah Quarter grabbed his coat, his face expressionless, walked out of the living room, and left.
**
James Thompson let go of Julia Land, his hand holding her hand, his eyes filled with affection, "Little Pear, I’m sorry."
Julia Land had originally wanted to scold him in anger.
The things that had happened to her recently were about to explode from the pressure building up inside.
But thinking that James Thompson had barely survived and come back alive this time,
She could only keep a cold face and not scold.
Angry, she withdrew her hand, her eyes red, "It’s good that you’re back."
She turned away, biting her lip.
James Thompson guessed that Julia Land was angry, and he hugged her from behind, his chin on her shoulder, "I’m sorry, there won’t be a next time, I promise."
"Everything has been taken care of."
He said this softly,
his lips curling up in a tender smile.
Julia Land’s body trembled slightly.
What to do, the man hugging her from behind is Mr. Thompson.
She began to doubt once again, suspecting that this man wasn’t James Thompson?
His voice sounded like Mr. Thompson.
His face, besides being still swollen, looked like Mr. Thompson’s.
And he was as tall as Mr. Thompson.
And then... Julia Land looked down at the arms wrapped around her waist.
The black mamba tattoo was gone??
"Where is the tattoo on your arm?" she asked calmly.
"I had it removed," James Thompson said nonchalantly, "Look at my arm, it couldn’t all come off, there are still some traces."
He showed his arm to Julia Land.
There was still a bit of color from a rose tattoo.
There were also unhealed marks from injuries.
His skin had darkened.
It was easy to get tanned over in Scott Kingdom.
*
Julia Land sat on the sofa, pulled out her phone, and after some thought, she made another appointment with a psychologist at a different hospital.
James Thompson was showering in the bathroom.
Julia Land sat on the living room sofa, massaging her forehead.
After his shower, James Thompson, in his pajamas, came out of the bedroom.
The moment he walked out of the bedroom, Julia Land looked up and paused.
He looked just the same.
Why did she have doubts?
James Thompson sat on the sofa and smiled, holding her, "Little Pear, I really thought I might never see you again this time."
Julia Land forced a sad expression.
"Little Pear?" His kiss fell on her hair.
Julia Land responded absently.
She hadn’t told him about her pregnancy.
"I wasn’t here, and you’ve lost weight," James Thompson said.
Julia Land suddenly got up from his embrace.
She stood up.
"I’m hungry, so hungry, I only had a little breakfast today, I’m going to make some noodles!" Julia Land said calmly.
As she was about to leave, James Thompson grabbed her hand.
"I had someone send over a meal from Noble Grid Hotel, Little Pear, if you’re angry, would you slap me?"
He raised his eyes to hers, and moved her hand towards his face.
That moment instantly overlapped with that night before.
James Thompson had also held her hand and hit his face that night.
The same expression.
At that moment, Julia Land was breaking down, she really was sick, questioning her own love.
Julia Land suddenly felt breathless.
James Thompson said powerfully, "Next week, I’ll take you to Capital City, and we’ll get married."
Julia Land didn’t feel as happy as she should upon hearing this.
She looked down and sat back on the sofa, deciding to try again.
Her face showed surprise and then sadness, "Mr. Thompson, I want to tell you something. The ring you gave me before you went abroad, I lost it recently."
"I’m sorry," said Julia Land, filled with loss.
James Thompson raised his eyebrows in confusion, touching Julia Land’s forehead, "Little Pear, what nonsense are you talking about? I didn’t give you any ring before I went abroad."
He held Julia Land’s face in both hands, "Little Pear, you look unwell, I’m really worried. Is there something you haven’t told me?"
At this, Julia Land felt even colder inside.
James Thompson was right, he hadn’t given her a ring before going abroad.
