Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 146: Monitor Me
Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Monitor Me
"I’ve always felt that someone is secretly watching me."
Julia Land rubbed her temples tiredly, having not slept well for two nights, her voice was extremely hoarse.
She said helplessly to Doctor Tang.
Doctor Tang was the head female doctor during Julia’s recent hospitalization.
Upon hearing this, Doctor Tang frowned.
She checked Julia’s body.
After the examination, Doctor Tang looked at the pale and exhausted Julia in front of her.
The last time, that handsome man mentioned that the child’s father had an accident.
Doctor Tang felt pity; she realized Julia might still need to see a psychologist.
She gently said to Julia, "Miss Land, I’ve made an appointment for you in the psychiatric department. For your and your child’s sake, I suggest you go. You’re pregnant now, so I can’t prescribe you any sleep-inducing medications."
Julia paused for a moment, unable to help but smile reluctantly, "Okay, thank you."
She probably really should see a psychologist.
Doctor Tang made the appointment, and Julia left the examination room.
The number for the psychological department was seventy.
Seeing she still had time, she went to a convenience store and bought a bottle of water.
Today’s weather was neither too hot nor too cold, but Julia still wore a thin jacket.
She twisted open the mineral water and had just taken a sip when she received a call from James Knight.
"Miss Land, the situation in Scott Kingdom is becoming increasingly unstable, and finding people is troublesome. If some day you can’t reach me, don’t panic. I’ll contact you immediately if there’s any news."
"Please stay safe over there. I should be moving soon, so I might not use this number anymore," Julia paused as someone passed by, and once they had passed, she continued, "I’ll send you my email account."
After hanging up the phone, Julia sent her email account to James Knight. She checked the time and went to see the psychologist.
The psychologist, upon hearing Julia’s description, diagnosed her with excessive psychological stress leading to hallucinations.
In other words, Julia was diagnosed with paranoid delusions.
"Miss Land, paranoid delusions can make you often feel that you are being watched or that someone wants to harm or follow you."
Julia’s fingers trembled, but she didn’t believe she had paranoid delusions.
The psychologist said that patients often insist on their views, feeling that they are not paranoid.
When Julia left the hospital, her hands and feet were ice-cold.
She returned home, closed the door, and surveyed her surroundings.
She didn’t believe that her feelings of being watched were illusions.
Julia began to search the house to see if someone had installed surveillance cameras.
She searched everywhere and found nothing.
Perhaps the psychologist was right.
She was sick.
Julia stopped searching and went to the kitchen to make chicken soup.
Regardless, she needed to nourish her body first.
In the evening, in order to sleep well,
she decided to fetch a medical book from James Thompson.
She couldn’t understand it, which she hoped would make it easier to fall asleep.
It was only when she turned two pages and saw a photo of a pair of rings stuck inside the book.
Julia picked up the photo in surprise, noticing the engraved ’Li&Zhi’ on the rings.
It was her and James Thompson’s initials in pinyin.
Julia recalled what Chloe Sullivan had said to the media half a month ago, holding up a ring on her finger.
The ring on Chloe’s hand was the same as the one in this photo.
Julia’s face grew uglier.
Chloe Sullivan really was repulsively vile.
She put the photo of the rings back into the book.
After two nights of restless suspicion, Julia lay in bed tonight, looking at the medical book, her eyelids fighting.
In the quiet of the night, she fell asleep.
The medical book lay on her, clutched in her hand.
In her half-asleep state, Julia always felt like someone was watching her.
Her body hair stood on end.
Julia woke up frightened.
She looked around; there was no one.
She rubbed her throbbing head.
**
As daylight broke, Julia was nearing her breaking point as she got out of bed.
While brushing her teeth, she saw in the mirror an even paler, bloodless-lipped woman.
Utterly hideous.
She had bread and milk for breakfast, then changed her clothes and went out.
Julia Land decided to try staying in a hotel for one night.
She was in no condition to drive, so she could only take a taxi.
There were several taxis parked across the street.
When Julia Land was about to cross the street, someone suddenly grabbed her arm.
Noah Quarter frowned, "Julia Land, it’s a red light right now."
He looked at the woman in front of him; she wore a mask, but her eyes were bloodshot.
Julia Land slowly looked up, enduring her discomfort, "Thank you."
She had been a little distracted just now.
Noah Quarter felt that Julia Land was in a bad state, and he did not let go of her arm, "Where are you going? I’ll take you."
"No need, you can let go of me now," Julia Land tried to pull her arm away, but couldn’t, and frowned.
Noah Quarter’s eyes deepened, "I’ll take you, Alexander Strong is also in the car."
Julia Land glanced at him, her bad rest making her temper a bit volatile, "No need, let go, can’t you understand human speech?"
Remembering that it was him who had grabbed her at the red light, Julia Land sighed internally, "Sorry."
Noah Quarter watched Julia Land for a long moment, then he released her arm.
As soon as the green light appeared, Julia Land crossed the street and got into a taxi, "Driver, to Noble Grid Hotel, wait, to Wendell Hotel."
Noble Grid Hotel was owned by the Thompson Family, and because of the picture of the ring from last night, Julia Land had become wary of Chloe Sullivan.
She planned to finish celebrating Lily Grant’s, Alexander Strong’s girlfriend’s, birthday and then start looking for a new place to live.
Julia Land arrived at Wendell Hotel and checked into a suite.
For some reason, this time she could deeply fall asleep on the hotel bed.
It had been three nights since she had last had a good sleep.
Julia Land nearly cried tears of joy.
That night, the lights at the Chinese villa were off because its owner was not home.
Noah Quarter came back to the villa late from the company, took a shower, and then went to the study.
Only after he finished his work did he go to the balcony to rest his tired eyes.
He habitually looked next door, the Chinese villa was pitch dark.
Julia Land wasn’t home?
Noah Quarter thought about Julia Land’s lethargic state that day.
He grew somewhat concerned and prepared to go back inside and send Julia Land a message.
**
"Trevor, do you have Julia Land’s phone number?"
"I’ve thought about it for a few days and decided I want to personally talk to Julia Land over the phone."
Chloe Sullivan paused for a moment before continuing, "I want to persuade her to give up having the child."
Trevor Sullivan had just finished showering when he received Chloe Sullivan’s call.
He wiped his hair, and upon hearing Chloe Sullivan’s last remark, he was instantly shocked.
"Chloe, what are you talking about? Why do you want Julia Land to give up having the child?"
Chloe Sullivan sounded a bit dejected, "Sorry, I shouldn’t have thought like this, Trevor, forget what I just said, goodnight."
Trevor Sullivan looked at the hung-up phone, deep in thought.
On the other end, Chloe Sullivan hung up the phone and walked out of the bedroom to go downstairs, just as the butler was carrying a glass of milk.
"Mr. Huang, is Uncle Thompson still awake?"
Mr. Huang respectfully replied, "The old master is in the study."
Chloe Sullivan hesitated a bit before saying, "I’ll go to the study with you, I need to see Uncle Thompson."
She used to call him Mr. Thompson, but now she had started calling him Uncle Thompson.
Mr. Huang, seeing Chloe Sullivan’s sensible behavior of not taking the milk upstairs herself, nodded, "The old master is free now."
"I didn’t expect Uncle Thompson to be busy this late, he truly works hard."
The study was on the sixth floor.
They took the elevator up to the sixth floor.
The Thompson family had an eight-story building, so there was an elevator installed in the house.
At the study’s door, Chloe Sullivan waited outside while Mr. Huang went in.
"Master, Miss Sullivan is here," Mr. Huang set down the milk, "She’s right outside the study door."
"This late? Let her in," Cody Thompson took off his glasses and rubbed his eyebrows.
Mr. Huang went out to call Chloe Sullivan in, and she thanked him.
"Uncle Thompson."
"Have a seat, it’s so late, what’s the matter?"
After Chloe Sullivan sat down, she pursed her lips and said, "Brother Thompson actually has another woman in Dunmore City, her name is Julia Land."
Cody Thompson was not surprised; he knew his son had a woman named Julia Land, but he did not expect Chloe Sullivan to bring it up herself.
Chloe Sullivan lowered her eyes, "Julia Land is pregnant now, and it might be Brother Thompson’s child."
