Chapter 141: Chapter 141 His Pajamas

Sophia Hart was on the phone with Julia Land when someone knocked on the bedroom door.

"Julia, hold on, I’ll go get the door."

She went to open the door and saw Chloe Sullivan standing there.

Chloe gave a slight smile, "Sophia, your parents are waiting for you in the living room downstairs."

"Thanks," Sophia frowned, a bit angry, "Who let them in?"

Chloe left with a light smile.

Sophia closed the door and said to Julia on the phone, "Julia, I need to go downstairs for a bit, I’m hanging up now. My parents have come."

Julia cautioned, "Mr. Thompson isn’t here now, you need to take care of yourself and don’t go near those twins."

"Mm, I know, they are now the apples of the Thompson Family’s eye," Sophia finished and hung up the phone.

She rubbed her face and walked out of the bedroom, heading downstairs.

In the living room downstairs, only Sophia’s parents were there, the second lady had already gone out to a fashion show, and Chloe and the others weren’t in the living room either.

Evelyn Fields stared coldly at her daughter coming downstairs, and only when Sophia approached did she speak icily, "You hid away in Dunmore City, and now you don’t even want to see us upon returning to Capital City. What’s going on? Don’t you recognize us anymore?"

After sitting down, Sophia directly asked, "What are you here for?"

This damn girl.

"We’ve always wanted what’s best for you, but you won’t listen," Evelyn Fields moved closer to Sophia.

She whispered, "Look at you, if only you had listened to us earlier, maybe now your child would be the heir of the Thompson Family, James Thompson purposely made you live in Dunmore City, he’s dead, and his wealth can still be left to his kids."

"We’ve only ever wanted what’s best for you, look where you are now, you haven’t gained any benefit."

Sophia leaned back on the sofa and rolled her eyes, "Brother Thompson will survive."

Evelyn Fields was almost furious, "What good does his living do for you, start trying to have a Thompson child yourself from now on."

Produce, produce, produce!

Sophia was sick of hearing it.

"Mom," Sophia said coldly, "look at the second lady, she hasn’t had a child for so long, yet she honestly remains the second lady."

"She’s old, she can’t have children, you’re young, could it be..." Evelyn was shocked, "could it be that Elder Thompson has already..."

Evelyn Fields looked towards her husband, Harrison Hart.

It was hard enough waiting for James Thompson’s death and their daughter’s return to Capital City, the timing and place were right, but the people were not.

Sophia didn’t realize that her statement had led her parents to wildly speculate.

"Mom knows a few famous doctors, I’ll ask them first."

"?"

Sophia had intended to ask why they were seeking famous doctors for no reason, but she heard a notification alert on her phone and didn’t ask.

Surprisingly, they left quickly after coming to see her today.

After Evelyn and the others left, Sophia looked at her phone and saw a message from Thomas Sullivan.

She didn’t reply.

*

Thomas Sullivan unbuttoned his shirt, revealing his chest. He made a call to Sophia Hart, which she didn’t answer, and she didn’t respond to his messages either.

Half a month ago, Chloe publicly claimed she had given birth to James Thompson’s child.

Sophia angrily called to question him.

Thomas really felt wronged.

To this day, he still remembered the words Sophia yelled at him.

"Julia and Brother Thompson had already picked the venue for their engagement, and now Chloe is claiming she had Brother Thompson’s child. How shameless can your Sullivan Family be! Shameless! Shameless!"

After scolding him thrice as shameless, she directly hung up on him.

From that day on, she never picked up his calls or responded to his messages.

"Edward, head to West Clearing Bar."

"Alright." Edward drove to the intersection in front and turned right, heading towards West Clearing Bar.

The bar was open during the day, though it wasn’t crowded.

Thomas walked in, not expecting to run into Noah Quarter.

Noah rarely visited bars for leisure, only for social engagements.

He wore a white shirt, his eyes and eyebrows portraying a frosty charisma, which made a few girls who wanted to have a drink with the handsome man hesitate due to his cold aura.

His suit jacket was casually placed on the bar counter.

"Director Quarter, what brings you to the bar during daytime? Has Quarter Family almost gone bankrupt?"

Thomas rested his elbow on the bar counter, sitting on a tall stool as he looked at Noah, clicking his tongue twice, "Quite rare."

He turned to the bartender and ordered a drink, "Cocktail, thanks."

Two men, one looking wild and the other looking aloof, each sat at the bar drinking.

Noah drank modestly.

Thomas Sullivan was a heavy drinker; he lifted his glass and tilted his head back to drink, his slightly open chest resembling that of a bandit leader.

They hadn’t drunk much, just enough to relax.

It was not possible for a man to drink sorrowfully out of love, for that was the way of the weak.

Noah Quarter finished his glass, picked up his coat, and left.

He walked out of the West Clearing Bar and stood for a while.

Alexander Strong drove the car over.

Noah Quarter bent down, got into the car, and as the car started, he asked, "Did you manage to buy the house?"

Alexander glanced at the rearview mirror, "It’s already been bought."

Today, Noah had suddenly instructed him to buy the villa next to Julia Land.

Alexander roughly knew what Noah intended to do.

Noah was planning to win Julia back.

*

For the next two days, Julia hadn’t seen Noah come over, which finally gave her some peace of mind.

Today, the doctor said she could be discharged.

Julia completed the discharge formalities and thanked the nurse she had hired.

She contacted a locksmith and then called a taxi home.

Julia stood at the doorstep of the traditional villa, feeling a pang in her chest at the thought of James Thompson.

She took a deep breath, reminding herself once again about their child in her belly.

Relax, relax.

The locksmith struggled for a while, and as dusk approached, he said, "Give me a few more minutes."

Julia slightly tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Thank you."

This lock was difficult to pick.

A car passed by her house and stopped at the villa next door.

Julia turned her head to look.

The car door opened and Noah Quarter, wearing a white shirt, stepped out.

He turned his head towards Julia.

Julia casually glanced at Noah and turned her head back.

Noah entered the villa, and lights in the neighboring villa immediately turned on.

Julia looked again in confusion; why was he living here too?

At that moment, the locksmith managed to unlock the door.

"Miss, it’s done. The lock is broken, do you want a new one installed now?"

"Install it, thank you."

Without a new lock, how would she prevent theft tonight? It was not safe now that she was alone.

The locksmith had brought a new lock, and the replacement took just over ten minutes.

Julia paid the locksmith and walked into the courtyard.

She entered the house and reached for the light switch.

The house had been unoccupied for half a month.

It was cold and a bit dusty.

Julia changed her shoes and walked to the coffee table, her gaze falling on the fishbowl on it.

Two little goldfish were dead.

Julia sat on the sofa, holding the fishbowl, sniffed, blinked, and held back her tears.

Next time, she would have to tell Mr. Thompson that he shouldn’t give pets as gifts.

She wanted gifts that could keep her company for a long time.

Julia tidied up the bedroom briefly, took a bath, and wrapped in a towel, she came out.

She opened the wardrobe intending to get her nightgown, but her fingers made a turn.

Her pale fingers touched James Thompson’s black nightgown.

She took James’s nightgown, let the towel fall, and put on his nightgown.

*

After Noah Quarter finished his work, he walked out from the study to the balcony and looked up at the neighboring traditional villa.

Light from one of the villa’s rooms faintly spilled out through a window.

The night was very quiet all around.
