Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 139 Crying for a Little While
Chapter 139: Chapter 139 Crying for a Little While
After Julia Land had finished her call with Sophia Hart, she hid under the covers and cried.
She only allowed herself to cry for a moment.
Just for a moment.
It always felt like fate was toying with her.
When the doctor knocked and entered, Julia had already composed her unstable emotions.
Noah Quarter followed the doctor into the room.
His gaze landed on Julia’s slightly reddened eyes and paused.
When he had rescued her from that place, she hadn’t shed tears of joy.
But now, she was crying because of James Thompson.
Seeing them enter, she handed the mobile phone back to Noah Quarter.
Noah suddenly grasped Julia’s wrist.
The place on the back of her hand where the needle had been just removed was red and swollen.
"Doctor, her hand?"
Julia frowned and instinctively withdrew her wrist.
Noah, "..."
The doctor examined Julia’s hand, "Your hand is a bit allergic, I’ll prescribe some medicine for it later."
She then asked about Julia’s physical condition and said with a serious expression, "Miss Land, you are pregnant, and given your current state of health, it’s not very good. You need to take good care of yourself, otherwise, it’s easy for the baby to be lost."
"?"
Noah turned his head sharply towards the doctor and said in a cold voice, "Pregnant?"
Julia was startled for a moment, then remembered the scattered fragments from half a month ago, the night she got drunk in the courtyard.
Mr. Thompson was going back to the house to fetch a small umbrella.
She giggled foolishly, taking a small umbrella out of her pocket. She thoughtfully bit it with her teeth, helping him tear off the umbrella cover.
That wasn’t the point.
The point was that the small umbrella in her pocket had been deliberately pricked with a needle, intending to take revenge on James Thompson.
For instance, when he was thrusting, she would tell him that the umbrella was full of holes, and he’d be so furious that he would pull out.
They were sometimes very unrestrained with each other in bed.
That night she was drunk and naturally couldn’t get back at James Thompson, and as a result, she was now pregnant.
She pursed her lips, speaking calmly to the doctor, though the corner of her mouth carried a hint of a smile, "Doctor, thank you. Is there anything else I should be mindful of? Please discuss it with me in detail, if you could."
The doctor was an elderly female physician who had a stern face that softened as she spoke, "Relax, I’ll explain everything that needs attention to your husband."
Husband?
The doctor turned her head to Noah, "Come with me to the consultation room, and I’ll explain everything there."
Julia quickly explained, "He’s not my husband."
The doctor apologized with a bit of embarrassment, "Sorry."
Noah had already come back to his senses from the news of Julia’s pregnancy, "Doctor, I’ll go with you."
The doctor was still busy and nodded, the two of them leaving the ward one after the other.
In the consultation room.
The doctor explained everything carefully to Noah and also printed out a sheet of paper.
She was a very responsible physician.
And so, when she heard the handsome man before her ask, "Is abortion possible?"
The doctor was vaguely angered, "Miss Land seems very much looking forward to this child’s arrival."
Noah’s expression was indifferent, "The child’s father is no longer here."
The doctor suddenly didn’t know what to say.
Two days ago, when Julia was admitted to the hospital, she noticed that Julia might have suffered some shock, her emotions very unstable.
The doctor took out a physical examination report, "I’ll say it again, I do not recommend an abortion. Miss Land has already had one miscarriage, if she has another, it would not be good for her health."
Noah paused for a moment, his words tinged with a sourness, "Are you saying that she’s had a miscarriage before?"
The doctor looked at him and did not continue to say anything more.
"Thank you." Noah took the printed sheet from the doctor, walked out of the consultation room, and headed to the designated smoking area.
He took out a cigarette, leaned against the wall, and lit it with his head bowed.
Smoke swirled around.
When Alexander Strong came looking for someone, he saw Noah unbuttoning his shirt and smoking, looking a bit despondent?
Noah glanced at Alexander, his voice cool, "She’s pregnant, do you think we should keep the child?"
Alexander’s eyelid twitched, "Whether to keep it or not should be Julia’s decision."
Noah fell silent for a second, then smirked faintly, "I understand."
He put out the cigarette and tossed it into the ashtray.
Alexander spoke with difficulty, "What do you understand?"
Noah looked at Alexander with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, "You seem very worried that I might do something, don’t you?"
Alexander wisely chose not to answer the question.
Noah spoke slowly and quietly, "Don’t worry, if she wants to keep it, she’ll keep it. Anyway, the chances of James Thompson coming back alive are very low. Have you bought the mobile phone?"
"It’s here." Alexander handed him a bag containing a mobile phone, "Inside there’s a temporary SIM card, and this bag has freshly cooked porridge."
*
Noah Quarter returned to the ward and saw Julia Land just as she was about to get out of bed, "What are you doing getting up? If you need anything, ring the bell."
She could still feel dizzy, and if she were to suddenly fall and hit something, that would be troublesome.
Julia had learned from experience, and did not get up abruptly.
"Going to the restroom."
Noah saw her walking slowly to the restroom. He initially wanted to help.
But remembering her resistance to him, he didn’t assist her but kept an eye on her to make sure she didn’t suddenly collapse.
Julia wouldn’t take her health lightly, she wasn’t alone anymore, there was another life inside her.
After she entered the restroom, her eyes tinged with a slight sourness.
Staying in the hospital without family to help, she was experiencing that feeling once again.
When Julia came out of the restroom, Noah placed the porridge on the cabinet.
He turned to look at her, "Alexander has bought a phone for you already; it’s in this bag. The doctor said you can only eat bland food for the next few days."
"Director Quarter, thank you, I will hire a nurse to take care of me in a moment."
What she meant was that she wouldn’t need Noah to worry anymore.
Noah’s eyes darkened slightly, "Julia, must you always reject people’s kindness like this?"
Julia’s expression was indifferent as she calmly said, "Director Quarter, I’m grateful that you saved me, but I still hope to maintain distance from you."
"Besides gratitude, I have nothing to repay you for this favor."
She was drawing a very clear line.
Noah’s cold gaze met Julia’s excessively cold face, and abruptly, he let out a chilly laugh.
Who said that a hero saving a damsel would move her? Look at this woman before him, showing no signs of being touched, only wariness and distance.
Noah reminded himself to take it slow and not to rush.
James’s time with Julia was not even as long as Noah’s.
He still had a chance, take it slow.
As Julia was drinking her porridge, Noah handed her the list of pregnancy precautions printed by the doctor.
"If you need anything, you can call me."
Noah left on his own initiative, not lingering any longer to be an eyesore.
After Julia finished the porridge, she immediately used her new phone to look for a temporary nurse.
She needed to get her health back on track as soon as possible.
During the phone call, when the cost for the nurse’s services per day was discussed, Julia embarrassingly realized that she didn’t have the money to pay and needed to call someone to bring her some cash.
The only person Julia could think of was Douglas Hayes.
Douglas Hayes received a call from Julia Land and brought her some cash and a bank card within an hour.
Seeing Julia’s pale face, without being nosy about her privacy, he said, "I couldn’t reach you by phone recently, so I went to the police. I will go to the police station to cancel that later."
"Thank you," said Julia.
Douglas Hayes told her to rest well before he left the ward.
In the ward, only Julia remained.
She lay down, trying to fall asleep; only with sleep could her body recover faster.
"Mr. Thompson, where on earth are you? You’re going to be a father soon."
This time she was determined to protect their child.
**
Sophia Hart sat in the backyard, lost in thought.
Back in Capital City, she felt a bit bored.
The two nannies in charge of taking care of the twins had taken them to the backyard.
Sophia glanced at the two babies in the stroller and looked away.
Suddenly, as if she remembered something, she plucked a small red flower and walked over.
"Can they see things now?" Sophia asked sweetly, holding up the small red flower and waving it in front of Eleanor.
Eleanor was the twin sister’s name, and the brother was William.
The nanny watched Sophia’s every move and replied, "They need things to be close to their eyes to see them vaguely now, by six months they’ll be able to see clearly."
Sophia touched Eleanor’s hair, "Eleanor’s hair is so thick; she’s going to be a beauty when she grows up."
She took the opportunity to pluck a strand of Eleanor’s hair.
Eleanor suddenly started crying.
Sophia’s heart skipped a beat, but she pretended to soothe her, "There, there, why the sudden tears?"
The nanny nervously lifted Eleanor to comfort her.
When the sister cried, the brother in the other stroller also began to weep.
Sophia turned to leave, not expecting to meet Chloe Sullivan’s gaze head-on.
"....."
Chloe smiled at Sophia and went over to the twins, "What’s wrong? Are you hungry?"
She glanced at Sophia’s retreating back, thoughtful.
Sophia and Julia were good friends.
