Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 135 Too Damn Much
Chapter 135: Chapter 135 Too Damn Much
At Scott Stronghold, the climate was that of a tropical rainforest.
The weather could still get scorching hot up to thirty-six degrees tonight.
Christopher Moore, originally quite fair-skinned, had tanned significantly within just a few days of being here.
He was almost sunburned.
He was hiding in a chaotic alleyway house in Scott Stronghold, having reached his limit of endurance.
Christopher listened to the noisy native people talking outside, incredibly loud in the middle of the night, as his slender fingers held a cigarette.
His legs were propped up on a worn low table, and due to the heat, he was shirtless, wearing a white ivory tooth necklace around his neck.
It was utterly unsophisticated.
But then, Christopher just had to follow local customs.
Even late at night, when looking for a girl to satisfy his physical needs, he kept the bright lights on.
James Thompson, that bastard, should come here and enjoy the fun too.
Christopher was chatting casually with Noah Quarter on the phone as if they were close, "Once James arrives, I’d start feeling better. I fucking miss him so much, really want to see his handsome face in despair."
"It’d be best if he turned as black as charcoal too."
Noah Quarter listened coldly to the man on the phone, who delivered his vulgar insults with a gentle voice.
The world of the insane was just a step away from that of the sane.
Noah did not want to continue listening to his trivial talk, he asked indifferently, "When will the operation start?"
Christopher avoided the question and continued on his own topic, "The local food here is sticky and messy. It might not look appetizing, but it tastes quite good. You should try it if you are free one day."
"..." Noah responded calmly, "Sorry, I’m used to Chinese cuisine."
Christopher immediately perked up, "James would definitely enjoy it here. Indeed, he and I are of the same kind."
"...."
Noah looked at his wristwatch; he had a meeting shortly.
Why was he wasting time listening to a madman’s rant?
Christopher flicked the ash off his cigarette, coming back to his senses, "We can take action tomorrow. Remember to handle his woman properly, no fussing around. If you lose your nerve at the sight of a woman’s tears, you’ll ruin my plan. As the saying goes, no tenderhearted man could ever achieve greatness."
Noah corrected him coldly, "It’s ’no venomed husband.’"
"You are still clear-headed, that reassures me. James’s days are numbered; who knows if he and his mistress will have their last romp in bed tonight." No sooner had Christopher spoken these words than Noah hung up.
Christopher looked at his phone, raised an eyebrow; he had spoken the truth, yet someone was displeased to hear it.
How bizarre.
The meeting Noah was about to attend was very important.
The company’s quarterly financial report was out, and the performance had declined by thirty percent from the previous quarter.
There definitely were James’s manipulative tactics behind the downturn in performance.
At that moment, outside the gates of Jade Gardens.
Arabella Shaw who came to Jade Gardens to confront Noah Quarter saw the nanny daring to stop her from holding the child.
She pushed the nanny away in anger and proceeded to pick up Bella Quarter, intending to leave.
The bodyguard only dared to step in front of her, not daring to forcibly take the child, to avoid causing any harm.
The nanny had no choice but to call Noah to come back.
When Arabella heard the nanny making the call, her eyes flickered slightly.
She wanted to see Noah, and now this was the only way.
Noah’s meeting was interrupted by the call from the nanny.
He had previously told the nanny that if something happened to Bella, she could call his personal number.
"Mr. Quarter, Miss Shaw wants to take the young lady away."
Noah’s expression hardened, and he was forced to pause the significant meeting, "The meeting will continue in an hour."
He walked out of the meeting room, and Alexander Strong followed.
"Prepare the car, back to Jade Gardens."
"Yes."
Noah returned from Quarter Group to Jade Gardens in about half an hour.
Arabella Shaw, seeing Noah, explained with a bitter smile, "I just wanted to hold my daughter, and yet the nanny was blocking me. Is it really not okay for me to hold my own daughter?"
"Give Bella to me." Noah stretched out his hand to take Bella Quarter away.
Arabella Shaw held Bella Quarter tight, turned her body, and with tears in her eyes, said, "Noah, can we talk? For the sake of the child, can you please help me?"
Noah Quarter looked at Arabella Shaw coldly, "Your desire to hold the child is fake, you just wanted to see me and get help."
Arabella Shaw was incredulous that Noah Quarter saw her that way, "It’s not..."
"It doesn’t matter," Noah Quarter didn’t want to continue this futile conversation. "Your explanation doesn’t matter; hand over the child."
Arabella Shaw guessed that Noah Quarter was determined not to help her.
She glanced down at the child in her arms.
Arabella handed Bella Quarter to Noah, walked back to her car, opened the door, and sat inside before telling the driver, "Back to Imperial View Gardens."
She lowered her gaze, slowly curling into a slight smile.
Noah loving his daughter was a good thing.
She couldn’t believe that Julia Land, seeing Bella, would be able to handle coming back as a step-mother.
As for the loan issue, since Imperial View Gardens was already under her name, if worse came to worst, she could sell it to temporarily relieve the pressing crisis.
That was until she returned to Imperial View Gardens.
When she saw the billowing smoke rising from Imperial View Gardens, her face instantly turned pale with shock.
Many fire trucks came to extinguish the fire.
Arabella got out of the car and, looking at the area cordoned off with cloth tape, felt her eyes nearly splitting with rage.
The housekeeper, who was standing on the outskirts observing the fire, hurried over to report to her, "Miss Shaw, I don’t know why, but it suddenly exploded and caught fire; currently, there are no casualties."
Arabella now knew she no longer had the chance to sell this place to tackle her emergency.
**
Inside the Chinese-style villa.
Julia Land was looking through the phone she found in Arabella Shaw’s safe.
Arabella Shaw had not deleted any of the call logs on this phone.
Julia noted that Arabella had made calls to Stella Langston during the time Stella was planning to marry Charles King.
Could Stella have been instigated by Arabella to frame her??
Julia exited the call log, opened the email, and reset the password.
And there in the email, was a photo of Austin Langston.
Julia picked up her phone and called Austin, "Miss Langston, the issue with the photo has been handled."
Arabella wouldn’t have time to cause trouble for others anymore.
Julia really hadn’t expected a woman could stoop so low.
She had once seen Arabella mistreating a cat and hadn’t expected that she also had a penchant for torturing people.
A woman that shattered one’s worldview.
Austin stared at the phone that had been hung up, stunned for a moment; the photo issue had been dealt with.
Hannah waved her hand in front of Austin, "What are you thinking about? When are you starting work? You’ve already postponed a sponsorship for a week."
Austin forced a smile, "Hannah."
Hannah, "Hmm?"
Austin shook her head, "Never mind, it’s nothing."
She lowered her gaze and sent a message to Julia, "Thank you, and I’m sorry."
Seeing the message from Austin, Julia felt indifferent.
She was happy to go to the kitchen, planning to cook a big meal for Mr. Thompson tonight.
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
After his shift, James Thompson got into his car and heard from Jasper Winters about the massive fire at Imperial View Gardens.
This fire directly burned money worth over a billion.
James raised his eyebrows; his little pear Julia had quite the talent for burning money.
"Is everything taken care of?" James asked, not entirely reassured.
"Everything’s taken care of," Jasper then brought up another matter, "Christopher Moore has hidden at Scott Stronghold’s place."
James frowned and said nonchalantly, "Why is he like a stinky rat, hiding everywhere?"
