Chapter 119: Chapter 119 Mrs. Qin Belongs to Her

Julia Land received a call from Chloe Sullivan while at the company, and found it a bit odd.

It wasn’t until Chloe mentioned that Thomas Sullivan’s mother wanted to meet her to talk.

Julia raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Sure, tomorrow afternoon at six."

Chloe, looking at the Sea Blue Gemstone Necklace delivered by the auction house, smiled, "Okay, Secretary Land, I hope you won’t tell Brother Thomas about this, okay?"

"Sure." Julia had no idea what this was about, so of course she wouldn’t say anything out of turn.

The two had no further topics to discuss, so they ended the call.

Julia turned to look towards the CEO’s office, raising an eyebrow. She grabbed some documents and walked into the office.

Thomas Sullivan was on the phone.

Julia put down the documents; Thomas, while still talking on the phone, quickly skimmed the documents and signed them.

’Miss Hart, I should be able to pick you up around six in the evening.’ Once Thomas received an affirmative response from the other end, he hung up and handed the documents to Julia.

Miss Hart?

Which Miss Hart?

Could it be Sophia?

Julia took the documents, a bit puzzled, but these were personal matters, so she didn’t ask further.

After work today, Julia was going to meet Detective Ouyang.

They met in a private room again.

Mr. Ouyang handed Julia a file folder, speaking tentatively, "All the information Miss Land wanted to investigate is inside, and let me give you something for free, a buy one get one, I’ve found out Miss Shaw has been investigating your orphanage records."

Julia raised an eyebrow, smiled, and said, "Thank you for that."

Mr. Ouyang left the private room first, and Julia put the folder in her bag, then put on her mask and followed out of the room.

*

Dunmore City, night lights just beginning to shine.

When Julia returned home, she smelled a heavy scent of burning.

Her expression changed, and without even changing her shoes, she ran into the kitchen, coincidentally as James Thompson was walking out.

Julia bumped right into James’s embrace.

Fortunately, her reflexes were sharp enough to avoid hitting her head.

James raised an eyebrow, embraced her, and pinched her waist, "Falling into the arms of love?"

Julia pinched his waist back and looked up, "What have you cooked? There’s a burnt smell. Let me go, I need to check on it."

James was very calm at this point, half coaxing as he steered Julia to the bedroom.

"There’s nothing to see. I’ve ordered food from the Noble Grid Hotel. Go change your clothes, and we can start dinner soon."

Julia was speechless, "Did you burn something while cooking? What’s there to hide?"

James lowered his gaze towards her, serious, "This is a matter of a man’s pride."

Julia laughed at his remark.

She went along with him and went to change her clothes.

Seeing Julia obediently going to change, James found a plastic bag and then went into the kitchen.

He placed the pot, which was coated with burnt food, into the bag, planning to dispose of it tomorrow.

Just as Julia changed and stepped out of the bedroom, the doorbell rang.

James went to check and soon returned bearing a large box with the Noble Grid Hotel logo on it, a thermal container.

During dinner,

Julia brought up the matter of planning to resign.

James fed Julia a piece of fish, "What do you want to do after resigning?"

Julia ate the fish he offered and said, "Open a milk tea shop."

When Violet was still around, her original plan was indeed to open a milk tea shop.

"Today at the hospital, I saw an old married couple," James suddenly took a turn and asked Julia, "Little Pears, do you like me?"

"I do." Julia moved the garlic she didn’t like to eat into James’s bowl, her lips curving into a smile, "Truly like Mr. Thompson."

James lowered his eyelids to look at the garlic someone had picked out for him, the one she didn’t like.

He said nonchalantly, "...when you answered that you liked me, you gave away the garlic you don’t like."

"....."

Julia immediately reflected deeply on her actions, pouting her red lips with a "smooch, smooch."

James watched her pecking motion and chuckled quietly.

His hand reached out, pulling her closer, and he smooched her red lips.

His deep gaze landed on her face as he laughed softly, "Mr. Thompson likes Julia Land too."

**

Last night, Julia reviewed the Shaw Family data provided by Ouyang.

She then formed an idea in her mind.

But she still hesitated a bit about this idea.

Lately, Julia always had bodyguards follow her to Strong Health.

Thomas Sullivan didn’t come to work today, and Julia flashed a message to Sophia Hart.

[Sophia, are you at home?]

[I’m fishing at sea, it’s so fun, Thomas Sullivan is amazing at fishing!]

Sophia glanced at Thomas Sullivan’s strong arms pulling the fishing rod, her cheeks flushed with power.

Julia paused, "I see, well, enjoy yourselves then."

Julia Land still remembered that at six o’clock this afternoon, Thomas Sullivan’s mother had sought her out.

As the clock ticked past five in the afternoon, she put down her work and left the office to meet the person in question.

Thomas’s mother looked very serious.

Julia Land took off her mask and nodded her head in greeting, "Mrs. Sullivan."

"Miss Land, please have a seat."

Selene Wells sized up the Julia Land sitting across from her.

Clad in a white chiffon maxi dress, with light makeup, yet unable to hide her radiant beauty.

"Miss Land, what would you like to drink?" Selene Wells asked politely.

"A mocha coffee, thank you."

Selene Wells called the waiter over and ordered a mocha coffee.

Julia Land, with a smile, got straight to the point, "Mrs. Sullivan, is there something you wanted to see me for?"

Selene Wells didn’t beat around the bush, and straightforwardly stated her purpose, "I would like to ask Miss Land to resign, I’m truly sorry for making such an unreasonable request."

A look of surprise appeared on Julia Land’s face, but then thinking of something, she showed a faint smile.

She found it somewhat amusing and tragic.

"Mrs. Sullivan, I’ve already handed in my resignation, I will be leaving Strong Health in a month," said Julia Land, both resigned and calm, "Rest assured, I already have a boyfriend."

Julia Land added another sentence, "I love my man."

Unbeknownst to her, Mr. Thompson had seeped into her heart like a frog being boiled in warm water.

Selene Wells saw Julia Land’s eyes brim with smiles when talking about her boyfriend.

It made the whole situation of coming to talk to Julia Land a little awkward today.

But she was also worried about her own son.

"I am truly sorry, Miss Land," Selene Wells said.

"It’s fine, you’re just being a caring mother, if there’s nothing else, Mrs. Sullivan, I’ll be taking my leave."

Julia Land was eager to get home to see James Thompson.

Selene Wells nodded her head.

Julia Land picked up her purse to leave, and before departing, she made sure to settle the bill first.

After hanging up the phone with Chloe Sullivan, Selene Wells left to pay the bill.

She heard the cashier say the bill had already been settled and knew then it must have been Julia Land.

When Selene Wells got home, she saw her busy husband had already arrived.

Nicholas Sullivan noticed Selene Wells’s attire, complete with necklace and earrings, and her strong makeup.

He put down his teacup, "My dear, did you attend some event today?"

Selene Wells sat beside Nicholas Sullivan and decided not to keep him in the dark, so she told him about her meeting with Julia Land today.

To her surprise, no sooner had she finished speaking than she heard Nicholas Sullivan scolding her, "Nonsense, why didn’t you discuss such matters with me earlier?"

Selene Wells glared at him, "Why are you angry?"

Nicholas Sullivan lowered his voice and said softly, "Do you know who Miss Land’s boyfriend is? It’s Mr. Thompson."

"What?" Selene Wells gasped softly, somewhat shocked, "But a few days ago, when I was chatting with my sister-in-law, she told me Chloe was on good terms with Mr. Thompson?"

Nicholas Sullivan couldn’t help but want to massage his temples,"The last time Mr. Thompson invited me and Richard Sullivan to dinner, it was because of Miss Land. His attitude was very clear; he has no intention of forming a marital alliance with the Sullivan family."

Selene Wells glared at Nicholas Sullivan, "Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?"

Nicholas Sullivan was also helpless, "You women never manage to keep gossipy stories to yourselves, and since I thought it unnecessary, I didn’t mention it. I don’t know if Richard has told his wife or not."

After all, Chloe was Richard and his siblings’ daughter.

"I guess my brother-in-law also hasn’t discussed it with my sister-in-law, or else she wouldn’t still think that Chloe and Mr. Thompson are close."

Selene Wells thought of something else, "What should I do if Mr. Thompson finds out I spoke with Julia Land today? Will he be upset?"

Nicholas Sullivan pondered for a moment, then stood up. "I’ll go to the study and call to apologize."

When Nicholas Sullivan went upstairs to the study to call James Thompson, Selene Wells also called Chloe Sullivan’s mother, Yan Wenlin.

"Older sister-in-law?" Yan Wenlin admired the nails she had done today, "Do you need something from me now?"

"Sister-in-law, Mr. Thompson already has a girlfriend now, so for Chloe’s sake, be careful what you say in public."

Selene Wells didn’t particularly like her sister-in-law Yan Wenlin, but since the Sullivan family was united, she felt obliged to warn her.

Her sister-in-law was quite selfish and greedy.

Thankfully, Chloe did not inherit Yan Wenlin’s character traits.

Yan Wenlin rolled her eyes and revealed a forced smile, "I’m aware that Mr. Thompson has a girlfriend now. My husband told me after coming back from Noble Grid Hotel last time. Don’t worry, I won’t talk recklessly."

Selene Wells frowned slightly.

If that’s the case, why did she tell her that Chloe was still close with Mr. Thompson?

Perhaps this closeness she referred to was merely a normal friendship?

Selene Wells muttered to herself, "As long as you know, I’m hanging up now."

Yan Wenlin scoffed and placed her phone on the couch.

Everything about the Sullivan family belonged to Selene Wells’s two sons; just because she had a daughter, she was only entitled to a small share of Strong Health, and her husband couldn’t even enter the company. Why should that be?

Moreover, her daughter had said it herself, the future Mrs. Thompson belonged to her.

The Thompson Family’s social status was far superior to the Sullivan family’s.
