Chapter 118: Chapter 118: The Rhythm of the Storm

Noah Quarter left Imperial View Gardens and had his driver take him to Jade Gardens.

The lights were not turned on inside the house.

It was not yet completely dark outside.

He stood in the marriage room he had once shared with Julia Land, looking outside.

"Noah, your stomach isn’t good. Today I learned a new recipe for a porridge that’s easy on the stomach and cooked it for you."

He realized he had never forgotten Julia’s calm yet caring voice.

Why was he so emotionally obtuse?

Noah took out his mobile phone from his trouser pocket and called Christopher Moore, "Mr. Moore, is everything ready on your end?"

He was ready to announce his disengagement from Arabella Shaw.

At that moment, the fleeing Christopher Moore took a cigarette out of his cigarette box.

He didn’t light it.

Christopher excitedly answered Noah’s question, "Soon, just a bit longer, and I will lure James Thompson out of the country."

Damn, that man James Thompson was also twisted.

Ever since he had fled abroad, that man had insanely hired mercenaries to chase after him.

Fortunately, he also had the money to hire people to protect himself.

Christopher ended the call with Noah.

He truly despised both Noah and James for being so infatuated with the same woman.

With money and power at their disposal, couldn’t they have as much real love as they wanted?

"Jack, how much longer until we get there?"

Christopher was tired of living in such a wretched state recently.

"Mr. Moore, if we’re quick, it’ll be three days."

Upon hearing this answer, Christopher smiled warmly.

It meant he would soon lure James Thompson out of the country for a meeting.

**

Julia Land wasn’t used to turning on the air conditioning at home; she thought the weather was too hot.

So, she called James Thompson to ask him to buy a big watermelon from the supermarket on his way home from work.

Instead, Mr. Thompson came back carrying not a watermelon, but a papaya.

Julia pointed her little finger at the bag of papayas and asked bluntly, "Mr. Thompson, can’t you tell the difference between a watermelon and a papaya?"

She kindly took out her mobile phone.

She found pictures of watermelons and papayas online and thrust them under James’s eyes.

For him to look.

James had gone directly to the gym after work before heading home, then went to the supermarket to buy papayas, his short sleeves clinging to his muscular chest.

He looked down at the mobile phone in front of him and reached out to hug Julia by the armpits.

Lifted her up, moved her, and placed her beside the sofa.

"I’m going to take a shower, don’t block the way, be good, I know the difference between a watermelon and a papaya."

Julia, placed on the sofa, "...."

"If you knew, why did you still buy a papaya?" Julia was speechless, but she didn’t want to delay his shower, "Go ahead and shower."

James raised an eyebrow, gently touched Julia’s head, "Wait until you’ve finished this month’s herbal medicine, and I will buy whatever melon you want. Besides, it’s all melon, papaya can be nourishing too."

Julia shot him an irritated look, "Nourishing what?"

James’s expression calm, he shifted his gaze to her chest, "Right here."

Julia directly bent over to grab a pillow to hit him, damn man.

James lazily stood letting her hit him a couple of times.

Then he bent down, kissed her, "It’s really been tough, wait until you’ve finished this round of herbal medicine, and we’ll go eat whatever you want."

Julia, "...."

Suddenly, a gentle offensive.

Papaya then, papaya it is.

"Go shower, go quickly."

Julia poked him with her forefinger.

James’s eyes slightly changed, he quickly caught her delicate wrist.

He said fiercely, "You poked the wrong spot."

Julia blinked her innocent eyes, "Oh, sorry, you’re wearing pants, how would I know I poked the wrong spot?"

The two fell silent for a moment.

James’s long fingers landed on his belt and pressed the buckle, unbuckling his belt.

Julia Land was furious as she poked his chest again.

James Thompson furrowed his brow.

He directly lifted her and carried her into the bathroom, "Let’s take a shower together."

Inside the bathroom.

The man happily washed his hair, "Who removed that trending search?"

Jasper Winters had mentioned it to him after work.

When James Thompson mentioned this, Julia Land, who was facing the wall and not daring to turn around to watch him shower, felt irritated.

"A man who thinks he did a good deed, but actually did something stupid."

"A man?"

James Thompson squinted his eyes and pressed the lotion to wash his body.

It was at this moment Julia Land turned around briefly before facing the wall again.

"It was Noah Quarter, he came to apologize on behalf of Arabella Shaw."

A cold scoff escaped James Thompson’s thin lips, "That Arabella Shaw is very cunning; you need to be even more ruthless when dealing with her."

Men usually shower and wash their hair very quickly.

In just the few moments they talked, he was done.

Julia Land, hearing no water, asked, "Are you done?"

James Thompson raised his eyebrows, dried off with a towel, and walked behind Julia Land.

His hands encircled her slender waist.

"Done."

He bent down, his hot thin lips landing near her ear.

They fooled around in the bathroom a few times.

*

This morning, Julia Land barely managed to get up to go to work.

Thomas Sullivan was massaging his temples as he stepped out of the elevator.

Seeing Julia Land, he said, "Get me a cup of coffee, thanks."

Recently, his mother had been keen on finding him a match, calling him home from time to time.

He was a bit down.

She brought the coffee to Thomas Sullivan and also brought up resigning, "I plan to resign at the end of this month."

Thomas Sullivan, sipping his coffee, asked, "Are you sure?"

Julia Land nodded, "Yeah, I’m not planning on being a secretary anymore."

Seeing her determination, Thomas Sullivan acknowledged her decision, "Okay."

*

At that moment, at Green Auspice Villa.

Chloe Sullivan was on the phone with Thomas Sullivan’s mother, "Aunt, don’t worry, Tom always exercises discretion."

"I’m still worried, Miss Land’s looks are too seductive; we can’t have such scandals in our family."

Selene Wells usually wouldn’t involve herself in her son’s affairs with women, but when Chloe Sullivan mentioned that Julia Land was Thomas Sullivan’s secretary, she reacted strongly.

Julia Land had once been Noah Quarter’s secretary and then married into the Quarter Family.

Chloe Sullivan squinted her eyes and harmlessly comforted her, "Aunt, you need to trust Tom."

Selene Wells was not comforted; she frowned, "Have you seen Mrs. Leah Thompson? She’s embarrassed to go out for tea because she once had a daughter-in-law suspect of murder."

Selene Wells was afraid that her son might also fall for someone like Julia Land.

She thought of a plan, "I plan to meet with Julia Land directly and have her resign voluntarily; Chloe, do you have any way to arrange a meeting?"

Chloe Sullivan hesitated for a moment, "I can call the reception at Strong Health and then transfer to Julia Land’s phone extension."

Selene Wells smiled, "That’s a good idea, just let me know once the time is set, Chloe, it’s been a long time since you visited your aunt."

Chloe Sullivan smiled, "I’ve been busy with drawings lately, planning an exhibition; my parents also called a few days ago saying it’s been too long since I visited home."

Selene Wells knew that once Chloe Sullivan started on her drawings, she’d spend a lot of time on them, she spoke, "Alright, then finish your work quickly and come home."

"Okay."

Chloe Sullivan smiled and hung up the phone.

The servant walked into the living room from outside, "People from the auction house are at the front door, they say they are delivering an auction item you purchased."

Auction house?

Chloe Sullivan was puzzled when she then received a call from Assistant Hunter, next to Elder Thompson.

It turned out the auction item at the front gate was a gift from Elder Thompson.

Chloe Sullivan asked the servants to instruct the security to let them in.

She touched her stomach, her lips slightly curling up, "Child, your grandfather loves you very much."
