Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Oh, Looking to Mock Her

"Our people checked, that little reporter isn’t from a mainstream news media outlet."

Jasper Winters glanced at James Thompson and continued, "The little reporter just happened to be nearby, staking out news on a female celebrity, when two girls passing by were talking about a high-profile divorcee suspected of murder."

"The little reporter got the supermarket address from those two girls and went to wait for Miss Land there."

James Thompson’s gaze turned slightly cold as he asked, "Have we found out who started spreading it?"

Although it was possible to trace back to the original source of the gossip, it was impossible to identify who provided it.

James Thompson was most worried about the matter being related to Christopher Moore; if it were, it would prove that Moore had set his sights on Julia Land.

As James pondered, Jasper Winters did not speak out to interrupt.

The noon sun was a bit scorching.

After meeting with Detective Blackwood, Julia Land left the private room wearing sunglasses and a mask.

She had become an internet celebrity, the kind that received criticism. She even had to wear a mask and sunglasses when stepping out.

Julia Land was quite good at entertaining herself.

Sophia Hart was dressed in a short skirt and T-shirt, full of energy, waving from the car door.

"Have you been waiting long?"

Julia Land had some time that afternoon, so she had phoned Sophia Hart to meet up.

They planned to have a nice lunch then go listen to a concert at the Pine Gallery together.

Sophia was holding a battery-powered mini fan, "No, I just got here. Get in, it’s so hot."

Julia Land was accompanied by bodyguards for safety today. The car she drove was being followed by the bodyguards’ vehicle.

After the two of them got into the car, Sophia turned to glance at the two cars trailing behind.

"Sis Land, have the number of your bodyguards increased?"

"Mhm, it’s safer this way. Mr. Thompson has arranged more bodyguards for me."

Julia Land didn’t plan to let online rumors confine her to staying at home, avoiding going out.

She hadn’t done anything wrong.

There was nothing to fear that would keep her from going out.

"That’s right, Sis Land, you’re so pretty, it’s natural to have bodyguards for protection."

Sophia said with certainty.

Julia Land looked at Sophia, her expression briefly helpless—was this girl’s focus off-mark?

This had nothing to do with being pretty or not.

Julia Land reached over to turn off the mini fan now that the car had air conditioning, "Silly, haven’t you been watching the gossip these past few days?"

Sophia blinked, "I did, but it’s just boring people making stuff up."

"It’s for safety reasons, because of what’s happening online, that I have bodyguards with me."

"So it’s not safe for you to go out now?"

"Mhm, something like that."

"Are we still going to the concert? Do you want to go back home instead?"

Now the girl was getting anxious.

Julia Land assured her to be calm, "Don’t worry, we’re wearing masks, and we have bodyguards."

The concert featured a renowned pianist from abroad, attracting many fans.

Julia Land and Sophia Hart were sitting in the front row VIP seats, with Arabella Shaw sitting two rows behind them.

Julia Land didn’t see Arabella Shaw.

But Arabella Shaw saw Julia Land.

Even though Julia came in wearing a mask, Arabella recognized her at first glance.

Arabella’s gaze turned slightly chilly.

The concert ended after two and a half hours.

Julia and Sophia walked protected by the bodyguards.

A car honked its horn.

Julia looked up and saw Arabella Shaw, with her car window down, showing her face.

Arabella Shaw opened her car door and walked up to Julia, but a bodyguard stopped her.

She laughed lightly, "Miss Land, can we talk?"

"There’s nothing much for us to talk about," Julia responded with a light smile, indicating for Sophia to get into the car first.

Arabella continued with a smile, "I really admire you. Even in times like these, you’re in the mood to attend concerts. I just wanted to say congratulations to Miss Land, you have great potential as an internet celebrity."

Bad fame is still fame.

Julia was being vilified online as a vicious woman.

The corners of Julia’s mouth lifted, so Arabella came to mock her, huh? "Thanks for the congratulations. I heard Miss Shaw and Director Quarter have had your engagement party? I wish you both a blissful married life."

"Ah, right, I saw the Weibo post from Miss Shaw. A family of three must be blissfully happy."

Julia smiled.

The nanny spoke of the clashing lifestyles between Arabella Shaw and Noah Quarter.

Heh, she came to mock me, without even seeing if she herself was happy or not.

Julia bent down to get into the car and closed the door.

Arabella Shaw could detect a hint of mockery in Julia’s tone.

Her face instantly darkened.

What did Julia mean?

Or did she misunderstand?

Was Julia’s comment about being a happy family of three sarcastic or genuine congratulations?
