Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Marital Discord

Early in the morning, Julia Land woke up to some devastating news.

Mr. Thompson suddenly wanted to take her to see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor!!!

"I won’t go, I don’t like drinking herbal medicine, it smells bad and tastes unbearable."

Julia sulkily clung to her pillow, sitting on the sofa.

She was wearing a natural-colored silk pajama, slender yet curvaceous.

She simply refused to change her clothes.

James Thompson had never encountered someone so stubborn about refusing to see a doctor. "...after you drink it, you can have a candy."

"I don’t want it, I can’t even drink it if I smell it," Julia added, "After drinking, eating candy? Do you still think I’m a three-year-old easy to deceive?"

She asserted, "I don’t like the bitter before the sweet."

That was the final word.

James Thompson’s dark eyes stared at Julia.

He usually indulged her in everything, but this time, James displayed unprecedented dominance regarding the visit to the traditional medicine doctor.

James did not pamper her in this regard; he reached out, picking her up to change her clothes.

Julia was uncooperative, but he had ways; undergarments were put on, overcoats simply thrown on, solving all problems.

Why would couples argue?

It was precisely because of things like this.

Julia knew that James was doing this for her health, but she just hated drinking herbal medicine.

She was angry.

Julia went to see the Chinese medicine practitioner with a sulky face.

The doctor was an old physician, and she felt uncomfortable projecting her anger onto an innocent person.

She obediently answered whatever the doctor asked.

James Thompson, standing behind Julia, saw her compliance and a smile flickered through his eyes.

The old doctor prescribed Julia a month’s worth of herbal medicine, to be taken daily.

After receiving a bag of medicine and leaving the clinic, Julia got into the car, irritated, "Take me back to Sincere Heart Community, thank you."

James raised his eyebrows, glanced at her, and drawled, "Alright."

Once again, he reverted to his gentlemanly demeanor.

Julia bowed her head and scrolled through her phone, silent throughout the journey.

Upon reaching Sincere Heart Community, she opened the car door, got out with a taut face, slammed the door, and walked away.

James watched her deliberately leave the bag of medicine in the car and chuckled.

As Julia entered the building, her heart blossomed with joy; she was determined not to take the medicine.

What medicine? She would rather breathe air.

James watched her stride confidently into the building, glanced at the bag of medicine, and a slight smile played across his lips; he started the car and drove away.

It didn’t matter; by evening, he would simply heat up the medicine and feed it to her.

At that moment, James received a call from Jasper Winters.

"BOSS, the people Noah Quarter had assigned to follow Miss Land have been withdrawn, and one more thing, we haven’t discovered any contact between Noah and Christopher Moore; however, Christopher took a ferry to Dunmore City a while ago."

James tapped his steering wheel with his index finger, "Keep an eye on both of their movements."

Meanwhile, Julia returned home to find Sophia Hart also at home.

Sophia cuddled up to Julia’s arm, "Sis Julia, if you hadn’t come home today, I would have followed you to Noble Grid Hotel."

Julia chuckled and rubbed her head, "Alright, next time I’ll take you with me."

Sophia confidently said, "Being the third wheel between you two."

Julia nodded, "Sure, sure, you’re welcome. I’ll go change my clothes first."

She changed into casual home clothes and had just sat down in the living room when she received a message from James.

The people Noah Quarter sent to follow her had been called off?

The corners of Julia’s mouth curled slightly; she first checked Arabella Shaw’s Weibo.

Arabella Shaw’s latest update was a photo of her, Noah Quarter, and Bella Quarter, their family of three visiting the zoo.

Julia thoughtfully looked at the family of three, pondering her next plans.

On the musical front, she intended to keep Austin Langston ahead of Arabella Shaw.

Given Arabella’s petty nature, seeing someone she had once suppressed now ahead of her would likely upset her.

As for their family life, the trio seemed very happy, leaving no apparent weak points.

Julia put down her phone.

Sophia went to the kitchen and washed some seedless grapes; carrying a bowl of cleaned grapes, she walked back out, "Sis Julia, these are very sweet, try some."

Julia tasted a few and found them quite delicious, "Can I ask, why are your eyes so red?"

She had noticed Sophia’s red eyes, clearly from crying when she first walked into the house.

But she hadn’t mentioned it immediately.

Sophia ate a grape, forced a smile, and shrugged her shoulders, "My parents are threatening me to return to Capital City, to have children; they’re just after the Thompson family fortune."

As she spoke, she couldn’t hold back any longer and burst into tears, crying in Julia’s arms.

Why did she have to have such parents?

Julia couldn’t believe it was this kind of situation, and she hugged Sophia Hart to comfort her, "Don’t listen to them, just continue staying in Dunmore City."

"I don’t want to go back, it just feels uncomfortable inside."

Sophia had always known her parents loved money.

The type of people whose eyes light up at the sight of money.

Seeing that Sophia was unhappy, Julia suggested, "Let’s change clothes, Sister Julia will take you out for some fun, wear something casual."

Julia was actually still on her period and felt a bit uncomfortable, but she could still bear it, as long as they didn’t do any intense sports.

Sophia didn’t know about Julia’s current physical discomfort.

After changing into casual clothes, the two of them left the house.

The place Julia took Sophia to was the arcade.

The music inside and the noise of play were deafening.

Julia stood in front of a claw machine, she put in some coins, intending to grab a stuffed toy for Sophia.

"I’ll give it to you if I catch one."

To Julia’s embarrassment, her claw machine skills weren’t very good.

Sophia also tried to grab a toy herself, and her skills were equally poor.

Both women gave up on the claw machine and switched to playing with water guns instead.

Julia was sometimes stubborn, feeling a bit defiant, she went back from the water gun to try the claw machine again.

"Your skills really aren’t that great," a lazy male voice suddenly appeared.

James Thompson had appeared behind Julia without her knowing.

He had seen her insert many coins and fail to grab even a single toy.

He moved closer to her, placing his palm on the back of her hand and helping her control the joystick.

The warmth of his hand, along with the heat from his body behind her.

The man’s tall body pressed against her.

They were standing too close, and Julia moved slightly forward to create some space.

Somehow, with his manipulation, they actually managed to grab a toy.

Julia held the toy and looked up at him, "What are you doing here?"

James Thompson gave her a look, "You’re not feeling well, and yet you ran out here."

"Shh, don’t talk about that, I’m out with Sophia."

Julia finished speaking and turned her head to look towards where Sophia was.

James Thompson didn’t stop them from playing, and he walked out of the arcade first to wait for them outside.

"Did Brother Thompson leave?" Sophia put down the water gun and took the toy Julia handed her, "Thanks, Sister Julia."

"He’s waiting outside for us."

They continued playing for another half hour before finally walking out of the arcade still not wanting to leave.

As soon as they stepped out, the quiet outside was a stark contrast to the noise inside.

James Thompson was sitting in his car, dealing with some work.

He lifted his eyelids and turned to look outside.

He rolled down the car window.

Julia saw the man’s handsome face and finally remembered the episode where she pretended to be angry and was dragged to see a traditional doctor.

She held Sophia’s hand and passed by James Thompson’s car with a straight face, pretending not to see him.

It wasn’t until they had eaten and returned home.

Julia saw the man standing at the door again.

Her anger deflated like a punctured balloon.

She truly didn’t know why she was angry; sometimes a woman’s mood could be so unpredictable during that time of the month.

Sophia went to her room to take a shower, not disturbing them.

James Thompson coaxed Julia to drink a bowl of herbal medicine before leaving.

Julia smacked her lips with the taste of the medicine, frowning.

Was Mr. Thompson playing games with her?

Just then, there was a vibration notification of a message on Julia’s phone.

She was eating the dates that James Thompson had brought, squinting as she read the message from Bella Quarter’s nanny.

Nanny, "Marital Disharmony Agreement."

Julia rearranged the words in her head to ’marital life out of harmony’.

Noah Quarter and Arabella Shaw’s marital life was out of harmony??

That’s strange.

From Arabella’s Weibo post today, they seemed like a loving family.

Really out of harmony?

How did their life suddenly become disharmonious??

Julia was in a state of utter shock.

She hadn’t even... made a move yet?
