Chapter 105: Don’t Make Me Angry
Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Don’t Make Me Angry
Julia Land only learned from James Thompson why the police were looking for her after they returned to the Sincere Heart Community.
A murder had occurred last night near the Sincere Heart Community.
The victim was Charles King, the old man married to Stella Langston.
"Miss Land, we found a photo with your fingerprints on it in the victim’s wallet, and there were messages you sent him on his phone. Please come with us to the station to give a statement."
In an instant, Julia Land thought of Stella Langston’s retro skirt from yesterday—she had even worn gloves.
Stella Langston had set her up.
And as for the phone, Stella Langston had probably taken Charles King’s phone to send those messages before.
James Thompson slightly knitted his brows, "She was with me all night last night."
The police officer sized up Thompson, "And what is the relationship between you two?"
James Thompson replied, "Boyfriend and girlfriend."
The officer then turned to Julia Land, "The last message we saw on the victim’s phone was about an appointment with you. Both of you, come to the police station with us to give a statement."
"Alright, we’ll cooperate."
Even at a time like this, Julia Land remembered to tell Mr. Thompson, "Please ask Thomas Sullivan for a leave of absence on my behalf."
The golden rule of a good employee.
James Thompson patted her head, "Mhm."
They headed to the police station.
James Thompson was able to leave after giving his statement, but Julia Land was detained for the time being.
Upon exiting the police station, James Thompson instructed Jasper Winters beside him, "Arrange a lawyer. Where is Stella Langston now?"
"The lawyer has been arranged, and our men found that after Stella Langston parted from Miss Land at the park yesterday, she took a boat to the harbor."
"Are you implying that Stella Langston already left Dunmore City before Charles King died last night? She has an alibi."
Jasper Winters frowned and relayed another piece of information, "Last night, near midnight, the surveillance cameras at Noble Grid Hotel malfunctioned."
If the hotel’s video recording was available, it could at least prove that Julia Land had not left the hotel the previous night.
James Thompson pondered, "First, figure out how to get bail for little Julia, this is premeditated, Stella Langston couldn’t have pulled this off by herself."

Today is a bad day for some, but for others, it’s a wonderfully good day.
Noah Quarter’s and Arabella Shaw’s engagement day.
Many guests were coming and going through the doors of Noble Grid Hotel.
Leah Thompson received many congratulations, but despite feeling unhappy, she maintained a polite façade and said thank you.
Arabella Shaw really is difficult to discipline—she didn’t consult her even once about the entire engagement banquet.
Completely outrageous!
At least Julia Land used to listen to her.
Meanwhile, in the dressing room.
Arabella Shaw looked at the beautiful woman reflected in the mirror and smiled with pursed lips.
Her mother, Rose Wang, holding Bella Quarter, waited until only the two of them remained in the makeup room before speaking, "You and Noah already have a child, why not just get married directly?"
Rose Wang had another grievance; normally, before an engagement, it was customary for both families to officially meet.
But Noah Quarter hadn’t even visited the Shaw Family.
And Noah Quarter’s mother’s attitude when speaking to them was downright condescending.
Arabella Shaw swiveled her chair to face Rose Wang, "Noah didn’t want me to have any regrets, which is why he thought to hold the engagement banquet first."
Though Rose Wang still found it odd, she couldn’t really control the thoughts of the young generation nowadays.
Her daughter was marrying well.
At that moment, Eliza Quarter entered the room, greeted Rose Wang first, and then turned to Arabella Shaw, "Arabella, you look so beautiful today."
Arabella Shaw smiled, her beautiful eyes twinkling, "I’m beautiful every day."
Eliza Quarter suddenly realized, "That’s not right, from now on, I should be calling you sister-in-law."
Arabella laughed shyly and playfully glared at her, her smile charming.
She was genuinely very happy today.
"Sister-in-law, I’ll be waiting for you guys at the banquet hall." Eliza Quarter was actually in a hurry to see Thomas Sullivan, who had also been invited to the engagement banquet.
Meanwhile, at the engagement banquet outside.
"Congratulations to Director Quarter and Miss Shaw, true lovers finally united."
Thomas Sullivan was present today as well. He congratulated Noah Quarter with a smile, not wanting to be a wet blanket on such a fine day.
After offering his congrats and seeing Noah Quarter’s perennially cool expression, he teased, "The groom-to-be should smile. Don’t be so aloof."
The friendly chat between the two men caught the attention of the guests.
Recently, Strong Health had not only secured the LB contract but also snatched several big contracts from the Quarter Family.
Noah Quarter merely gave Thomas Sullivan an indifferent glance.
Right then, Thomas Sullivan’s phone rang, and it was James Thompson calling.
Julia Land needed to take a leave of absence.
"Secretary Land is taking a leave of absence? Okay, I got it," Sullivan had intended to ask why Julia Land was taking a leave, but thinking of James Thompson on the other end, he chose not to inquire further.
Thomas Sullivan hung up and turned to continue his conversation with Noah Quarter, but found him already walking away.
He raised his eyebrow, musing to himself, odd, he got his "moonlight", but why so cold still?
Noah Quarter went to the lounge.
He took out his phone to check an email from his subordinate.
Julia Land had been detained.
Noah Quarter immediately called Alexander Strong, "Get the car ready, we’re going to the police station."
Alexander Strong glanced at his watch. The engagement ceremony was about to begin. The BOSS was leaving now?

In the makeup room.
Rose Wang looked up at the clock, "Hmm, it’s almost time. I’ll let the nanny come in and hold Little Bella."
As soon as her words ended, Eliza Quarter pushed the door open, "Arabella, I don’t know what happened, but the engagement banquet is delayed for two hours."
Arabella Shaw froze for a moment, her hands involuntarily clenched, she bit her red lips. Noah didn’t tell her personally about delaying the engagement banquet.
Rose Wang frowned, "What could be more important than an engagement banquet?"
This was a bit excessive.
Eliza Quarter shook her head, equally puzzled. Many guests had arrived, and it was surprising for her brother to suddenly postpone the event, "My brother didn’t say."
"I’ll call Noah. There must be something going on; otherwise, he wouldn’t do this."
Arabella Shaw blinked her sore eyes, took the phone from Rose Wang, and called Noah Quarter.
Noah Quarter saw Arabella Shaw’s incoming call display, he furrowed his brows, thinking about his plan.
If he went to the police station now, it would attract James Thompson’s attention, "Let’s head back to the engagement party, Alexander Strong. You go to the police station in a friend’s name to find out what’s happening."
Alexander Strong nodded, "Okay."
Noah Quarter answered Arabella Shaw’s call, waited for her to finish, "Don’t worry, just joking around with the guests."
Though still somewhat suspicious, Arabella didn’t ask any further questions at this time. She softly spoke, "I’ll be waiting for you."
She then cheerfully told Rose Wang and Eliza Quarter, "Noah said he was just joking around."
Eliza Quarter covered her mouth and chuckled, "My brother has never joked before; it seems he is really happy."
Noah Quarter’s car had just left Noble Grid Hotel not long ago, so ten minutes later, he was back at the engagement banquet venue.
The engagement ceremony was complex, some processes were already omitted, but welcoming the bride out to serve tea to the groom’s family was not.
The host on stage was keeping the atmosphere lively.
Decked in a red dress, Arabella Shaw looked stunning as she stood beside the cool and distinguished Noah Quarter, a perfect match indeed.
The screen on stage also showed videos of their moments together, ending with a photo of the three of them as a family.
After the engagement banquet.
Noah Quarter and Arabella Shaw returned to Imperial View Gardens. He went to the study, while Arabella went to remove her makeup and take a bath.
Arabella Shaw, fresh from the bath, uploaded a photo of her and Noah Quarter’s engagement from earlier today to Weibo and posted, "Got engaged to the one I love today, so happy."
The post garnered a lot of congratulations from her followers.
Feeling pleased, Arabella went to the study, wanting to share the comments from her fans with Noah Quarter.
At that moment, Noah Quarter was on the phone with Alexander Strong, discussing Julia Land.
Arabella Shaw knocked and entered the room just in time to catch the words "Julia Land," and her smile faded.
Noah Quarter’s brow furrowed, and he glanced at Arabella Shaw then hung up the call.
Arabella Shaw, increasingly suspicious that Noah Quarter was hiding something from her, asked, "Are you done with work?"
"Mm."
Hearing his answer, she smiled and approached to share the amusing fan comments with him.
"Noah, are you happy today?"
She smiled as she asked him.
Noah Quarter looked down at the smiling woman in front of him and said indifferently, "Happy, but I have something I need to take care of right now. You should rest early."
He didn’t even change out of his clothes from earlier and was hastily preparing to leave the study.
Arabella Shaw, tears welling in her eyes, turned and confronted him, "Are you regretting getting engaged to me? Today is our engagement day; how can you just leave like this?"
She walked over and hugged him from behind, her face against his back, "If you have any regrets, tell me now, and I’ll immediately take Little Bella and leave!"
Noah Quarter’s eyes darkened slightly, "Arabella, don’t be irrational, I really have something important to attend to."
"I just heard the words ’Julia Land.’ Does it have something to do with her?"
Arabella Shaw lowered her eyes as she asked.
Noah Quarter spoke with gravity, "It has no relation to her. Julia Land already has James Thompson by her side. My urgency is truly because there is a situation within the company."
He coaxed Arabella to let him go, turned around, and lifted her chin with his long fingers, kissing her forehead.
"You’ve had a long day too, get some good rest."
After saying this, he quickly left the study.
Arabella Shaw couldn’t believe it; he had left just like that?
**
Christopher Moore sat hugging his computer, playing a game, a serene smile on his face as he blasted the head off an opponent.
While gaming, he spoke on the phone with Noah Quarter.
"I thought today you wouldn’t be able to control yourself and would run to the police station," he chuckled lightly, "Luckily, you didn’t go in the end, otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen to continue cooperating with you."
Noah Quarter remained expressionless, "Did you call just to say that?"
"Not really. I wanted to tell you that I did you a favor, for free," Christopher Moore blasted another enemy’s head and laughed, "Out of the goodness of my heart, I sent Miss Land’s little sister to feed the fish in the sea. Now, it’s your turn to play the hero. I’ll send you a video."
Noah Quarter’s eyes grew colder, his lips pressed into a thin line.
Christopher Moore was someone who acted whimsically.
Noah Quarter said coldly, "Please don’t do things like that again. Our cooperation is only aimed at James Thompson."
Christopher Moore’s face, gentle as jade, revealed a smile, "No good deed goes unpunished, hmm? What to do? I suddenly find Miss Land quite attractive and have taken an interest in her. What to do?"
Noah Quarter’s expression darkened.
Christopher Moore stopped playing the game, "Don’t make me angry. I’m not even afraid of James Thompson, let alone a mere CEO of the Quarter Family."
