God of Systems: Maker of Heroes and Villains
Chapter 283 - 283: Problems of Baroma Kingdom

"What do you mean?" Alpha asked with a frown on his face. "Wait, what about the god of systems? Our god? Is he a fake too?"

Juliet shrugged, "Who knows. Well, this god of yours is actually using his influence to make actual changes. There are rumors that multiple people have gotten access to systems so I'm leaning towards him being a true god. Or a she, who knows."

"Anyways! There are people outside this continent who are way stronger than the so-called gods that you worship here. But I don't think you can go too far when you're all suppressed. If you're on this continent, then you can never awaken more than thrice. A triple awakening is the limit, but if you do that, you'll still be killed.

They don't want another third level awakened to threaten their position. You know, the god of technology, the one who governs the Baroma kingdom actually used the war that happened a few centuries ago to get his third awakening.

He managed to stay away from their radar for quite a long time, and by the time they found out about him, it was too late. He already had a stable kingdom running and he's still alive out there in this continent.

Oh well, anyways. I'm sure that he'll lose in this war and lose everything. His fate is sealed."

Fabian frowned as he stared at the meat that was in his hands, wondering about the stuff he had just heard.

"True god? So there are actual gods here?" he asked as he lifted up his head.

Juliet sighed as she nodded, "Yeah, but I'm tired of giving you all the answer. Ken, I'll leave this one to you."

Ken looked at Fabian and began, "I think it'll be easier to start with true gods since it'll make the fake god concept easier to explain. One just cannot become a god. You're born as one. This is one of the main things that sets a true god apart from a fake one.

They govern this universe with their laws. There are multiple gods, take elements for example. Fire, water, wind and all that. There's the goddesses of life, death, love, happiness, passion and all sorts of things.

These beings, don't care about us humans. They simply govern the laws until something drastic happens. They gain divinity and strength as long as the stuff connected to their divinity is active.

Take god of flames for example. As long as people use fire or as long as fire exists on this planet, even as a small flickering flame. As long as there's fire on this planet, then the god cannot die.

Our actions does not effect them much since they're not competitive against each other. Their responsibility is to make sure that their control over the laws of this world isn't taken by others.

And since they don't show themselves or make us see miracles, most people don't know anything about the true gods.

Now, coming to the fake gods. These people are usually just humans who portray themselves as gods. They show us miracles and act like they are gods, only to feed on our spirituality so they can cultivate divine energy.

In fact, did you know that once they start the process of accumulating divine energy, they won't directly interfere with the stuff that goes on her.

It's because if they do, their secrets will be exposed."

Fabian frowned deeper, feeling frustrated with Ken's explanation as it gave birth to more questions and it also was not a proper answer to his previous question.

"What secrets?"

This time, Juliet chuckled.

"They're basically stealing the divine energy of the true gods. Take the money god Mammon for example. He's the strongest among all but his so called divinity clashes with the divinity of the god of trades.

The god of war, Balmond's divinity clashes with the god of death's divinity. Galen, the medicine guy's divinity clashes with goddess of life's.

Seraphina and Seraphelle's divinities clash with multiple true gods. Life, fate, passion, love… haaah. These two twins really messed up, I tell you.

Anyways, they steal the divinity of true gods to keep themselves alive for a long time. If they act directly, then the true gods will sense their respective divinities and will check things out.

This will mean trouble, so it's kind of an unwritten rule to not interfere directly. Does that answer all your questions, mister curious Fabian?"

Fabian nodded slowly, but he did have questions so he spoke.

"What about the avatars of gods then? It's a well known fact that once in a few hundred years, the gods will bestow their powers to people here. In dire circumstances." he said and waited for an answer while Gerald and the duo silently listened.

Hearing the word "avatars" Juliet frowned, "I'm surprised you know about the avatars. Heh."

She drank a bit of water and then continued, "You see, while they do steal divinities from the true gods, they can actually mix this divine energy with their mental energy. This mixture can be given to people and since it's not a pure form of divine energy, it's very hard to spot unless the true gods are specifically searching for it.

You do know about spiritual energy right? This is one of the reasons why the churches were founded apart from the need to gather faith and divine energy.

The humans with the highest spiritual energy have it easy when it comes to absorbing the mixture of divine and mental energy from the gods. This gives them a pseudo awakening upgrade, boosting their powers to unimaginable levels.

A regular man, if he has enough faith, can become as strong as a second level awakener overnight."

While the group discussed about the gods and awakened abilities, there was one man pacing around in a large cave as he bit his nails.

He turned his head to look at the multiple inventions he had made on his own, without the help of anyone. And yet, now he was being targeted by the god of war.

'Damn it! After all I've done to survive… I don't have anything to protect myself. Nothing.' he thought as he kicked a failed attempt of his experiments. The hunk of metal bounced off the wall and fell to the floor, on top of a huge pile of failed products.

"Just what in the hell should I do?" he grumbled, "I don't have a church of my own, but the people of this kingdom do worship me. The population is low, so I don't really have as much divine energy as the other older gods… it's frustrating."

With a heavy sigh, he snaps his fingers and finds himself in a huge hall. Multiple large chairs were placed neatly in a line while a huge red carpet with golden lining at the borders, separated the two lines of chairs that faced each other.

He turned to look at the end, to see a throne. It was larger and had a lot of intricate carvings on the hand rests. On the throne, sat a young man, looking no older than fourteen.

The child immediately stood up from the throne as he saw the man appear out of nowhere. He then knelt right where he was and the rest of the people in the throne room followed.

"Oh great god of technology, we are extremely grateful to bask in your divine presence." the child said, but the man ignored him as he looked around.

The face he wanted to see, wasn't in the room and realising this, he frowned.

"Where's my daughter?"

"She's helping the people right now oh great god. The war… it's damaged us even before it begun. We were looted… all of our iron ores, iron ingots, silver, gold… everything just disappeared in one night. This includes food too. We are struggling to keep our people fed." the young king explained.

An old man who was on the right to the king, raised his head slowly before speaking, "It's like they knew about our weakness, oh great god. Our knights were in a disarrary, as they tried to fix things and find the person who set fire to the warehouse, but while they were on this job, everything vanished.

Our way of extreme order… has bit us in the back."

The god of technology let out a soft sigh and just teleported away instead of speaking to anyone in the throne room.

Once he was gone, the officials went back to their seats but stayed silent for five whole minutes until one of them spoke.

"I suggest we surrender. This is the only way of keeping our people alive. We don't have enough rations to even fight a war against even the weaker Morose Kingdom. Meanwhile, there's news that even the Kazak empire will join the war to claim our territory.

I see no future for this kingdom anymore, King Mlynar. I feel like this is the one time I'll get to be honest about the way our kingdom operates.

We take away the children the moment they are born. Teach and raise them until their sixteen before sending them back to their parents. I agree that this does help the kingdom with producing capable youth who can work efficiently for the kingdom but.

As a father… when I saw my daughter and sons come home, to look at me like I was a stranger… It shattered my heart. My wife cried for weeks since our kids didn't even call us mother or father. They called us by our names.

Do you think that every parent has to go through something like this? Please answer me, your highness."
