Chapter 101: Raiding the Burg 2
Chapter 101: Raiding the Burg 2
At the east side of the burg, the peak of the wall reached the skies. The crimson moonlight was blocked by the clouds, dimming the presence of the Bloodbounds. However, Kaiju could now clearly see them and he discerned more than tens of them gathered in front of him. They opened their eyes, baring their fangs at him, and staring at their fallen kin.
They were so focused on controlling the Thralls, ordering hundreds near the wallwalk at a distance to rush at Little Gorilla and Snow, forgetting the presence of Kaiju. They might have been careless but they were confident of their sensitivity to danger, yet one of them was taken out sneakily. If it was not because they could sense the life essence of their fellow Bloodbound, they would not have been aware of it.
Most of the Bloodbound were players of the vampire race. They were certainly arrogant. Despite possessing their servant’s body, they were undoubtedly stronger than humans. Yet, the humans in front of them could easily assassinate their kind?
"When did humans become this strong?!" One of them exclaimed in disbelief.
"Not only that, he seemed to have tamed those monstrous beasts, too! What is happening? They were not this strong when they raided before," said the oldest player present.
They were clamoring through mental connection. Kaiju was unaware of their feelings at all, as he was scrutinizing their appearance. So this is a bloodbound? Vampires were supposed to be handsome, comparable to angels. However, Bloodbound, Crimson Knights, and Thralls were obviously not a noble of the vampire race, like a failed mutated version.
Hence, Kaiju was not surprised by the hideous appearance of the Bloodbound–paler than the noble vampire, no nose, elongated ears, bald head, uneven mouth, and protruding grey veins all over their body, while they were wearing only the cover of their private parts. Some of them weren’t even wearing any, knowing that Bloodbound doesn’t have a private part. Clearly, they were old players, who were already accustomed to their new body.
Kaiju smirked. "How does it feel to enter the body of your slave? Does that make you feel good?"
The new vampire players were furious, pointing their trembling fingers at him. "Y-You!"
Kaiju’s eyes flashed with cold glint. Due to the existence of numerous clouds, shadows were all over the place, even some of the Bloodbound were entirely embraced by it. Since he finally succeeded in agitating the Bloodbound, he instructed Snow and Little Gorilla first before making a move.
"Snow and Little Gorilla, don’t forget Qwanisha’s lesson about information regarding Bloodbound. Kill as many Thralls as possible. I will try my best to occupy them."
He received their positive response. He blinked behind one of the Bloodbound and successfully plunged his Bloodthorn at the heart, and then blinked once again, thrusting the Frostfang dagger to another near Bloodbound.
He was swift, lethal, giving no room for the Bloodbound to react. He did not even spend mana points for the active effects of the Advanced Dagger Mastery, fully utilizing its passive effects.
He was surprised at his ability to massacre the Bloodbound. He was astonished deeply. They are supposed to be strong, no? This is easy. Kaiju even almost forgot he was inside the Hellish Trial.
Only now he acknowledged the result of his training with Qwanisha and Griffin, helping him to shape and grow to be multiple times better than before. If it was not for their help, probably, Kaiju would be having a hard time as of this moment.
Now, despite the sheer quantity of his enemies, he was able to slay them one at a time slowly. As a result, panic ensued among the Bloodbound.
The oldest player, one who deserved the title for possessing a high noble bloodline even in the vampire race, managed to regain his composure, despite being taken aback himself. After all, the human he was facing now was vastly different from the humans he came across long ago.
Those humans, they managed to lure them into their trap, leading the humans to the Crimson Knights. For the past year, they slackened, except they were turning beasts to be Thralls–a failed vampire transformation–just to prepare for this moment. As long as they were able to slay all of the humans, which they failed long ago, their first phase of the Trial would be completed.
However, it appeared the first phase right now was not as easy as they appeared. He had to take the human in front of him lately.
He shouted at the top of his lungs, "He is just alone! Kill him!"
"HOW?! ARGH!"
Indeed, how would they be able to slay the human when they could barely keep up his speed?
"Idiot!" However, he retorted them and moved first, trying to intercept Kaiju’s next actions. "Sense the fluctuations of his next blink. Anticipate it. For fuck sake, what are you all doing?!"
He succeeded while shouting. He blocked Kaiju with his claws, but he was surprised by the weight of Kaiju’s attacks. In addition, his claws were certainly incomparable to a Rare grade artifact, and was now alarmed it was slowly being cut. He kicked Kaiju away, and the latter received it, taking the chance to distance himself from them.
"He is not that fast!" He was surprised.
"So, you’ve noticed." Kaiju grinned. "However, what about it?"
He suddenly appeared behind his back, stunning the oldest player. The latter was not aware of Kaiju’s presence, but he sensed the danger emanating behind him. He knew it would be too late for him to react to Kaiju’s attack speed, but he tried his best to prevent fatal injuries. He succeeded.
Even so, he was surprised when he perceived his regenerative abilities diminished. An artifact that has a bleeding effect? Not good! He leapt forward, but blood appeared on his lips, as he turned around and licked it.
"How?!" He was in disbelief.
He did not sense the mana fluctuation behind him.
Kaiju’s response was a smirk. He did not bother to explain. He used the effects of the Shadowveil, Umbral Step, which allowed him to teleport at a short distance through the shadows.
He noticed before that Umbral Step and Blink have a massive difference. Umbral Step made him instantly teleport at a limited distance as long as there was a shadow, while Blink needed to form a shadow mana at the precise location so he could travel towards it, even if it was in the shadow.
That was why, the Bloodbound could sense the mana fluctuations whenever he blinked. However, Umbral Step was a different case and that was crucial for Kaiju to injure their leader. The oldest player knew it would be impossible to take care of the single human if they would continue to be careless and panicking.
Hence, he instructed the remaining players alive, "The humans have the abilities to stop our regenerative abilities. He is not fast, but his presence faints for some reason. This is now the right time to use our ultimate card."
They did not hesitate to follow his command, turning their heads simultaneously at the wallwalk. However, their faces turned ugly when they saw the situation.
Kaiju was not able to catch the leader’s order since they were communicating mentally. However, their movements sufficed in understanding their next move. Receiving the report of Snow and Little Gorilla, he grinned.
"Too bad. We are already aware of it."
Bloodbound has two powers, mentally controlling the Thralls, boosting their powers and intelligence as a result, and sacrificing the Thralls to achieve a near immortality and attribute boost. However, from what he learned from Qwanisha, they needed to sacrifice dozens of Thralls, but at present, there were only two or three dozens of Thralls.
Kaiju was elated and even praised Snow and Little Gorilla for a job well done.
The oldest player was taken aback, gnashed his teeth in anger, staring at Kaiju filled with hatred. He recalled he battled Qwanisha and others long ago, and that information should have been passed to Kaiju.
"Damn it! You were not this strong long ago!" He shouted.
Kaiju was stunned, then recalled he battled Thralls before. He grinned.
"This is the result of underestimating us. Now, getting scared, huh?"
"As if!"
The oldest player did not hesitate to sacrifice every Thralls, causing the latter on the wallwalk to kill themselves. Their blood seemed to have come alive, slithered towards the oldest player, and Kaiju was not able to stop it. After all, he perceived that the blood’s sheer quantity could overwhelm him.
He stared at the leader solemnly and did not hesitate to attempt halting his transformation. However, the other Bloodbound tried to obstruct him. The situation was different now, if attacking was as easy as flipping his fingers, defending from them has become difficult. He could not use Blink either, as they could anticipate the location and appeared beside him.
He was helpless, so he ordered his pets to aid him. At the same time, he took out two Flame orbs and threw them at the Bloodbound, trying to attack him. He was surprised, however, when a shield manifested, entirely blocking the explosion.
The Bloodbound players were like him, they obviously had inventory and stores. Due to the special circumstances, they were forced to fight like how a Bloodbound would. Hence, as soon as they managed to stop the explosion, they stored it in the inventory and continued to assault Kaiju.
Kaiju had no choice but to slay them. With the appearance of Snow and Little Gorilla, it became even easier. However, the oldest player was also given enough time to complete his transformation, sending chills down Kaiju’s spine.
