Chapter 1194: Chapter 1194: Overlapping Fates_1

Purple Summers’s struggle seemed utterly pointless.

When consciousness returned, she was already in the car.

Ice and snow were piled up on both sides of the road, and the car was dashing swiftly!

Purple Summers was wrapped in a thick down jacket, wearing a scarf, mask, and hat; her entire body was covered tightly. Scenery whizzed past her, making her dizzy.

She suspected that after Cherry used her body, she might have been injected with something or had taken sleeping pills?

A sudden brake, and the car stopped abruptly!

Purple Summers’s forehead hit the back of the seat in front of her, and before she could come to, she was dragged out of the car.

The cold wind penetrated every pore, causing Purple Summers to shiver.

Nathaniel Summers was carrying a suitcase with one hand and pulling her forward with the other.

In front of them was a river, and beneath their feet were descending steps. Purple Summers stumbled and fell to the ground several times, only to be rudely yanked back up by Nathaniel.

They didn’t stop moving.

Once the steps ended, there was slippery, muddy ground. Her head was heavy, unable to lift, and she saw layers of mud cling to her boots. Then came a metal plate, and as they moved forward, Purple Summers realized Nathaniel had gotten her onto a boat.

It was a very old ferry, with rust spots all over its iron exterior, and the boat reeked of diesel oil.

"Hey! What are you guys doing? Get off, get off!" the boss in the boat shouted, "The river surface is frozen, we’re not taking passengers!"

Nathaniel opened the suitcase and tossed out a black plastic bag, filled with banknotes.

"I’ve bought this boat," Nathaniel said coldly, "this money, plus the car on the shore."

After speaking, he threw the car keys as well.

The boss of the boat, oily and slick, clearly accustomed to the ways of the underworld, was initially stunned, but then he realized his windfall and hurriedly scooped up the money and car keys from the ground and scuttled off the boat!

Nathaniel threw Purple Summers aside and walked into the cockpit to start the boat.

The engine roared and the iron beneath their feet trembled!

Purple Summers sat against the railing, feeling only the buzzing in her ears and an intense pain in her head, the thick scent of diesel oil nearly piercing her lungs, causing sharp pain!

She struggled to open her eyes and tried to focus on the dock that was getting further and further away, wondering: had the dog’s owner done as the agreement stipulated? If he had, why hadn’t Alexander arrived in pursuit?

Where was this boat headed?

If they reached Nathaniel’s new hiding place, it would be even harder for Alexander to find her!

Escape?

...Should she escape?

She fumbled with her mask, breathing slightly and looking at the surging waves below, recalling how she once...

Once fell from a boat and perished.

Now, this situation strangely overlapped with the past...

It was as if fate was mocking her, going round in circles, unwittingly bringing her back to this point.

Purple Summers exhaled gently.

The wind on her face felt as if rough branches were scraping by, causing a raw sting.

She removed her scarf and mask and turned to look at Cherry beside her.

Cherry was tilting her head, observing her, with half of her face bandaged and filled with suspicion.

Nathaniel, piloting the boat, seemed to have realized something and suddenly shouted, "Suzanne?!"

However, Purple Summers was a step quicker, flipping over the railing and plunging into the river!

Whoosh! ——

Her entire body went under the water!

The icy cold of the river in the dead of winter was bone-chilling. To jump in was akin to seeking death, but Purple Summers wasn’t behaving foolishly; she just hoped that Providence would look over her once more, just one more time, to let her find a sliver of survival.

Despite being mentally prepared, the frigid cold that poured in from all sides still left her utterly disoriented!

Her body was rapidly sinking, and in a panic, she managed to shed her heavy coat underwater, using her poor swimming skills to try reaching the shore.

At that moment, her arm was suddenly grasped firmly!

Nathaniel, who had jumped in after her, harshly gripped her tight.

"Do you want to die?!"

His yell rang in her ears like a death knell on her heart, almost stopping it from beating!
