Chapter 1177: Chapter 1177: Searching and Searching and Searching_1
Purple Summers knew that Nathaniel Summers was training a ghost.
She had once been in Nathaniel’s room, seemingly pinned to the bed by a ghost, unable to move.
She had also sought Nathaniel’s help, asking him to use his so-called supernatural power to find Atra Blanc’s whereabouts.
But back then, the ghost was without form or shadow, hiding in the deep darkness.
And now, it dared to brazenly slide from one person’s body into another’s in broad daylight!
This was simply astonishing!
When she was a soul, she couldn’t touch any physical object, let alone enter a human body—a gust of wind could have dispersed her! Why was Nathaniel’s ghost so different?
Purple Summers’ question made Cherry laugh, as she ate her egg custard and chuckled "giggle, giggle, giggle."
Purple Summers felt a tingle on her scalp.
There was only a small bowl of egg custard, and after Cherry finished it, she picked up a milk custard bun and nibbled on it.
Nathaniel said, "You should eat your vegetables too."
Cherry nodded and with a spoon, she picked at the broccoli on her plate, puckering her lips and chewing, but her eyes stayed fixed on Purple Summers.
If Purple Summers hadn’t known she was a ghost, she would have thought the little girl adorable...
After Cherry finished her meal, Nathaniel told her to go wash her hands, and she obediently went to do so.
Afterward, only Nathaniel and Purple Summers remained in the room.
"Eat well, live well." Nathaniel looked at her, with a slight sneer at the corner of his mouth, "After all, you have hope only if you’re alive, don’t you?"
Purple Summers watched him in silence.
He seemed to have changed a lot, yet not at all.
The image of being shot by him that day flashed in her mind. She was in agony, and then Nathaniel... did he grab her hair or her neck? She couldn’t remember clearly, just the violently shaking water before her eyes as she was submerged in the bathtub... Her strength siphoned from her body, she suffocated.
Purple Summers didn’t know if this qualified as post-traumatic stress disorder, but now, just looking at Nathaniel silently, that drowning pain began to emerge frantically from every corner of her body...
She lowered her head and diverted her gaze, murmuring, "That advice is more applicable to you, Nathaniel. By capturing me and bringing me here, you are on a path to self-destruction. You’ve squandered your own hope."
At her words, Nathaniel smiled faintly, "Do you think Alexander Summers would let me off just because I spared you?"
Purple Summers remained silent.
She knew that Alexander Summers was always looking for Nathaniel. Nathaniel had nearly taken her life; Alexander would not let him go.
"Death is inevitable; I might as well do something interesting. Settle in and with any luck, you’ll live long enough for Alexander to find you."
After speaking casually, Nathaniel got up and left the room.
Purple Summers sat alone in the room for a long time.
Her gaze fell on the tray of food, and at last, she picked up a bowl of porridge and emotionlessly gulped it down.
The porridge had been sitting for a while and had gotten cold; as it slid down her throat, it felt like a cool, greasy snake, making her want to vomit.
She suppressed the nausea, quickly finished the porridge, and then ate some vegetables without the heart to savor the flavors.
She needed to eat.
She needed to live.
Only by regaining her strength could she muster the energy to think of a way to escape.
After Purple Summers finished eating, Cherry came in, cheerful as ever, took off her slippers, climbed onto the bed, and announced it was nap time.
Purple Summers didn’t want to share a bed with this child.
Nathaniel looked at her with a sneer, "There are only two beds in the house; do you want to sleep with me?"
Purple Summers retorted, "You could throw me out; I’d be willing to sleep on the street."
"Now how could that be okay?" Cherry sat up immediately, looking at her with feigned concern, "It’s too cold on the street; you’d freeze. You need to take good care of yourself during puerperium, otherwise how will you have children in the future?"
Purple Summers’ complexion changed abruptly, her teeth clenched tight, "What... are you saying?"
Cherry reached out, touching Purple Summers’ now flat belly, and said with a smile, "It feels so warm here."
