Chapter 1173: Chapter 1173: Looking for 1
One with an intimidating dark face, the other with a persuasive pale face.
The family members gathered around the newborn ward finally regained some sense of reason, and the crowd began to disperse.
Some took the stairs, others the elevator.
Then suddenly, a thunderous boom!
The explosion shockwave violently shook everything! It felt as if the entire building quivered!
"Ahhhhhhhh!!!—"
The surrounding crowd let out terrified screams, and the crowd that had just regained a semblance of order completely collapsed!
Everything descended into chaos!
People were like headless flies, swarming in the corridors, with others desperately cramming into the elevator!
Purple Summers sat in the wheelchair, with no place to hide, as the nurse anxiously protected her body, shouting loudly, "Let the elderly and women go first! The elderly and women are the priority!"
When life was at stake, who cared about manners and grace? Yet, it’s in moments of danger that one’s character truly shows. Some men truly gave up their spots, supporting the frail women who had just given birth into the first available space, and those who cried and refused to move were forcibly sent into the elevator.
The elevator doors slowly closed, and Purple Summers watched the chaos outside, her heart pounding erratically!
The confined space only intensified the panic, with suppressed sobs filling her ears. She clenched her hands tightly, frantically sorting through the entire sequence of events in her mind.
Someone played a prank by hitting the alarm bell... then there was an incident in the newborn ward... The police and firefighters lured by the false fire alarm arrived at the hospital just in time to deal with the hostage-taker, but then gasoline was introduced, sparking turmoil... followed by the current explosion...
Where did the explosion occur?
The blast was so loud, it was impossible to tell if it originated from the newborn ward; it could have been above or below... Could the child be in danger? Alexander, could he be in danger?
When the elevator doors slowly opened, they had reached the first-floor outpatient lobby. People around her began to leave in succession until eventually, only Purple Summers and the nurse remained in the elevator.
The elevator doors closed again.
The nurse pressed "-1," which was the underground parking garage level.
Purple Summers saw the reflection of the nurse standing behind her from the elevator door’s surface, still with that smile.
Suddenly, she realized something, but it was all too late...
A cloth drenched with the scent of ether covered her mouth and nose. Purple Summers struggled weakly, her consciousness fading away; the last thing she thought was: Why would they target her?
...
The rescue team entered through the windows with ladders from the fire truck, subdued the hostage-taker, and there were no casualties.
The perpetrator was a man suffering from mental illness, brandishing a toy gun while mumbling that he would self-immolate if not given his child, even pouring gasoline over himself.
The source of the explosion was also identified; it came from Purple Summers’ deluxe hospital room.
The room after the explosion was charred black, with windows and doors shattered, and only remnants of the furniture and accessories.
There was no trace of Purple Summers.
Given the intensity of the blast, it was unlikely anyone would have survived it, but not so much as to leave no trace of a body.
Yet, there wasn’t even a single hair to be found in the room.
Alexander Summers stood amid the ruins, feeling utterly numb.
Then came the pain!
His head throbbed excruciatingly, his innards felt scorched, and his entire body was in agony!
Every nerve was stretched to the limit and then seemed to snap in excruciating pain!
There were no visible wounds, nor any bleeding, but his body trembled with pain, and even his breaths quivered.
His eyes gradually reddened as he looked at his personal bodyguards, "Where is she?"
The bodyguards looked ashamed and lowered their heads.
Alexander, unable to contain his fury, felt a surge of anger rush to his head, "Where is the person you were supposed to watch?!"
During the evacuation, the elevator only had room for a group of elderly women, and the bodyguards, being large and robust, would have taken up much space if they had joined Purple Summers inside. So during the chaos, they didn’t get on but took the stairs instead.
By the time they reached the fourth floor, they found the room exploded and Purple Summers missing. Realizing something was wrong, they immediately set out to search—
