Chapter 1172: Chapter 1172 Chaos_1

Purple Summers was stunned, "...a fire alarm?"

"Yes, didn’t you hear it? It was ringing for quite a while." The nurse smiled, "You were sleeping so deeply."

Purple Summers asked, "There wasn’t an incident, was there?"

"Well, it was alright. At first, we thought there was a fire, and the whole building organized an emergency evacuation, but then it turned out to be a false alarm..."

The nurse hadn’t finished speaking when sudden hurried footsteps erupted in the corridor outside!

Mixed with shouting and questioning, they came one after another in utter chaos.

"There’s trouble in the newborn ward! Is your child in there?"

"All the police have come! They say someone’s kidnapping children, and a nurse inside is being held hostage; the security door is also locked!"

"What are we going to do?! My child is still inside!"

Purple Summers listened, her heart pounding with terror, her face turning ashen in an instant.

The nurse was also startled and murmured, "What’s happening? A fire alarm and a hostage situation in one morning, it had better not be another prank..."

As she spoke, she walked toward the door, ready to check it out.

Purple Summers propped herself up on her arms and sat up, urging, "Nurse, nurse! Please, take me to the newborn room!"

"You better not go there." The nurse looked troubled, "It must be very chaotic over there, and you won’t be able to help."

Yet, with her own child in the newborn room, how could Purple Summers remain calm? Thinking that Alexander Summers and Atra Blanc were upstairs, she was even more restless.

"If it’s chaotic, I’ll come back, but I need to see what’s going on there!"

Purple Summers insisted on going, so the nurse helped her get out of bed, into a wheelchair, and then pushed her out.

The bodyguard was waiting outside the door and followed Purple Summers upstairs.

Seated in the wheelchair and unable to use the stairs, she took the elevator up, only to find the corridors packed with people!

Doctors, nurses, police officers, as well as the parents and relatives of the infants were there. Alexander Summers and the bodyguards he brought were also there! Despite efforts to control the situation, it was still in disarray!

Many parents cried, pleading with the police to ensure their children were rescued.

The police wanted to disperse the crowd, but how could the parents, worried sick for their flesh and blood, bear to leave?

Just like Purple Summers felt at that moment, knowing she couldn’t help but hearing about the situation, especially with the children inside crying in pain, how could she calmly wait in the ward for news? It was simply impossible!

There was a security door in the hallway leading to the newborn ward, with a double lock, extremely sturdy.

It was meant to provide protection, but now it had become the biggest barrier to the rescue!

The police kept the jostling crowd back by two meters, while Alexander’s men made preparations to break through forcefully.

Since the security door was locked from the inside, they could use firearms to damage the door lock mechanism.

The hostage-taker seemed mentally unstable, yelling nonsensically, with no intention of communicating. Every second of delay in the rescue effort outside meant the danger to the newborns inside was doubling!

However, just as the police and Alexander’s bodyguards were getting ready to break down the door, a pungent smell started to permeate the air—

This odor harshly assaulted everyone’s nerves!

"It’s gasoline! He’s going to light it!!!"

Someone in the crowd shouted, and immediately afterward, everyone frantically rushed forward, grabbing onto the firearms in the hands of the officers and bodyguards!

"No shooting! No shooting!"

Even the smallest spark could cause the entire place to explode!

A frenzied protective instinct overtook everyone, including mothers who had just given birth, throwing themselves into the fray with incredible strength!

In the tumult of pushing and shoving, whether it was a firearm discharging accidentally or the police firing to intimidate, there was a sudden, deafening gunshot!

The scene fell silent for a moment.

A police officer barked, "The fifth floor is under full lockdown! Everyone out, now! If you want your children to die faster, keep pushing forward!"

Another officer said, "The fire trucks are almost here, and the rescue team will enter through the windows, avoiding risks of explosions and fire hazards."
