Chapter 1168: Chapter 1168: Not According to Plan_1

Alexander Summers froze, doubting whether he’d heard incorrectly.

Because Purple Summers’ voice was just too calm, not a hint of nervousness or panic could be heard.

Alexander asked, "What’s happening to you?"

Purple clenched the quilt, her brow furrowed tightly, "I said, I’m going into labor."

This time, Alexander finally heard the tension in her voice, and his heart gave a violent leap!

He didn’t dare delay, immediately getting out of bed to arrange a car and notifying a familiar doctor at the hospital. He glanced at the time, 1:34 in the morning.

Alexander asked Purple, "Does it hurt a lot?"

"Not... not much." Purple shook her head, remaining in her original position, sitting on the bed without moving.

She took slow, deep breaths, trying to relax. When she looked up again, Alexander was still foolishly standing by the bed, suddenly erupting in anger.

"What are you dazing out for! Go call mom over!" Purple roared.

After she finished yelling, she felt a gushing of fluid below, and dared not speak loudly again; she breathed in and out again to maintain her composure.

Alexander’s expression became even more solemn. He wanted to find Atra Blanc, but he couldn’t bring himself to leave Purple, so he could only stand at the door and shout, "Mom!—"

The tail end of his shout drifted.

Even the most indomitable lion has its moments of timidity, and Purple almost laughed so hard she lost her breath.

Atra, upon hearing the shout, knew something was wrong. She hurried over, wearing her pajamas, and asked, "Is it time to give birth?"

Purple immediately felt reassured and replied, "Mom, my water broke."

"Oh dear, move slowly, don’t make big movements, or you’ll lose more."

Atra efficiently rummaged for a few sets of clean clothes, draped a thick down jacket on Purple, and packed a big bag full of bottles, towels, small cloths, and miscellaneous items. She directed her son, "Carry Purple to the car, and be slow on the stairs. Don’t let her fall at all costs."

While Atra was busy, Alexander had already dressed himself.

Dressed in the bulky clothes of winter, he carried Purple off the bed, only to change his expression, "You’re so heavy?"

Purple was angry enough to want to kick him, "You’ve been feeding me, don’t you know your own work?!"

Alexander, carrying her out of the room, said on the way, "I didn’t expect you to take in so well..."

"Mom! Don’t let him follow!" Purple fumed with anger, "I’ll give birth on my own!"

"Oh my goodness, you two stop it. What time is it? You’re acting like children..."

Their noisy argument continued as they got into the car with Atra sitting in front, and Alexander holding Purple in the back, followed by a car of bodyguards before and after.

Soon after getting into the car, Purple began having contractions, in so much pain that she couldn’t spare any breath to scold Alexander, only repeatedly emphasizing, "Once we’re at the hospital, go for a caesarean!"

She was in too much pain to endure any longer.

Alexander nodded, "Caesarean. We’ll do it once we’re there!"

After a while, Purple said again, "After this one, I’m not having anymore!"

Alexander coaxed her, "No more, no more, be good, we’ll be at the hospital soon; just hang on a bit..."

Purple was in unbearable pain, "I can’t... it’s coming out..."

All the people in the car were sweating.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the nurse checked and said that the cervix was fully dilated and urged them to the delivery room immediately.

Purple panicked, randomly grabbing a hand, not caring whose it was, and said, "I want a caesarean! I want anesthesia!"

"Oh dear, this is a rapid delivery; it’s almost out. If you can, try to push through with it," the nurse said calmly, accustomed to the tumult, "By the time the anesthesiologist is ready and the operating room is prepared, your baby would have been born already."

This wasn’t part of the plan!

Tears streamed down Purple’s cheeks from the pain as she let a crowd of people push her into the delivery room.

Alexander was unsettled too. They agreed on a caesarean, so how did it turn into a normal delivery? They agreed on childbirth after 48 hours of contractions, so how did it become an emergency delivery?

"I’m going in with her!" Alexander insisted.

It’s all played out like this on TV; the wife struggling, the husband by her side cheering her on - the scene is super touching.

Purple was already in anguishing pain, and hearing Alexander’s voice only increased her despair. With no concern for her image, she screamed at the top of her lungs, "Mom! Get him out!!! Out aaaaah!!!!"
