Chapter 1165: Chapter 1165: Firecracker Ghost Cherry_1

Cherry’s tone was leisurely and soft, phrase by phrase, but to the doctor, it sounded like thunderclaps!

He fell on his bottom, bottles and jars scattering everywhere, stammering, "You! You... how did you know?!"

"Enough, don’t scare him anymore," Nathaniel Summers frowned slightly, "It’s wasting time."

Cherry pouted her lips, "I’m just afraid he’ll do something foolish and get his whole family into trouble needlessly."

The doctor on the ground trembled even more.

Nathaniel sighed softly, having given up hope. He picked up a bottle of medicine, shook it, expertly drew it into a syringe, and then had Cherry undo her buttons to expose her shoulder, before injecting the medicine into her upper arm.

After the incident, they took away many medical instruments and drugs from the clinic, leaving behind three stacks of banknotes. The doctor, in the end, didn’t report the incident.

Nathaniel took Cherry to board a bus heading for the suburbs.

The bus swayed, and since the route was remote, there were few passengers.

Nathaniel and Cherry sat in the back row. He started to close his eyes and rest as soon as they got on, while Cherry couldn’t stop chattering excitedly.

"Did you know, she’s pregnant with twins, and both are boys, what a pity. I don’t like boys," she said.

"I don’t like siblings, either. It’s best to have just one girl, everyone would dote on me, everything in the house would be mine, and anyone who tries to compete with me deserves to die."

"Do you prefer boys or girls? If you like boys, I’m not opposed to trying... but boys can’t wear dresses, and I like wearing dresses."

"Moreover, boys will grow beards when they get older... Forget it, forget it, it’s better to be a girl! Don’t you think?"

Cherry talked by herself for a while, but Nathaniel didn’t respond, so she poked him, saying, "Hey, I’m talking to you."

Nathaniel kept his eyes closed, as if he was taking a nap.

Cherry’s expression darkened, her black eyes concealed a chilling rage.

"You didn’t use to be like this," she said to Nathaniel, her voice heavy, suppressing some indefinable emotion.

Nathaniel still didn’t respond.

Cherry exploded with anger, "You used to tell me everything, now you won’t even acknowledge me! Say something! Do you not want me again?!!"

Her sharp cries pierced the tranquility of the bus, causing passengers in the front to turn their heads and look back.

Finally, Nathaniel opened his eyes.

Seeing that it was nothing serious, just a child throwing a tantrum, the passengers all turned back around.

The bus continued to sway gently onward.

Nathaniel looked at Cherry and said calmly, "I came from Clearwater to find you. To avoid the police system, I couldn’t take a plane or a train, so I had to drive myself here. I drove for fifteen hours, then searched all over Kingsley City for you, without sleep for two days. Now I just want to rest for a bit."

Cherry stared at him fixedly, astonishment and doubt on her young face.

"You drove for fifteen hours?"

"Mhm."

"You were looking for me everywhere?"

"Mhm."

Cherry looked at him for a while, her mood shifting from sullen to sunny, and smiled, "Then you rest!"

After speaking, she affectionately hugged his arm, her voice chirpy, "Once you’ve rested, we’ll get off!"

What kind of statement was that? The bus would eventually reach its station; they couldn’t rest forever...

...

They got off at a deserted bus stop and followed a path forward, surrounded by endless wheat fields on both sides.

When the wind blew, the air they breathed was cold and dry. Nathaniel coughed a few times.

Cherry observed his lean, straight silhouette from behind and after a moment of contemplation, she caught up to him—

"Let me try again," she said. "You’ve always said I was smart, right? This time I can definitely do it."

Nathaniel’s footsteps slowed momentarily, and then he continued walking forward.

She pursed her lips, tugging at his sleeve with infinite grievance, "You’re not going to leave me, are you..."
