Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -

Chapter 1161: Chapter 1161: A Way_1
Kingsley City’s climate is dry, and rain is rare.
This light drizzle of autumn rain, moistening everything, made the air crisp and the view vibrant and lively.
Mr. Ghost Hayes stood under the eaves, stretching lazily before dragging a chair outside to sit and pick his teeth.
Around the lakeside villa were six scattered houses, all bought by Alexander Summers, who left them unoccupied, while Mr. Ghost Hayes had always been living here.
Hunter Dalton would occasionally come to stay for a few days.
But every time he came, he was never as leisurely as Mr. Ghost Hayes; he was tense and couldn’t relax.
Hunter Dalton entered the courtyard, his body draped with dampness, and his trousers straight, but spattered with embarrassing mud spots.
Mr. Ghost Hayes lifted his eyelids to look at him, his face showing some schadenfreude, "Did you catch up to it?"
Hunter shook his head, modestly saying, "It escaped too quickly, I’m afraid only an elder like yourself could subdue it."
"If you can’t catch it, with my old arms and legs, I’m even less likely to!" Mr. Ghost Hayes laughed.
Hunter choked, looking at the other’s nonchalant manner, and thought it best not to say more, silently walking inside.
As he passed Mr. Ghost Hayes, the thoughts in his mind turned over and over, but he couldn’t hold back and ended up saying one more thing, "Elder, as long as this matter is unresolved, you can’t leave. Why bother?"
"Oh, what you’re saying is so heartless!" Mr. Ghost Hayes spit out the toothpick and exclaimed, "Of course I want to catch it, but this ghost is just too cunning! It runs away before I can get close. What else can I do?"
Hunter tried to persuade him kindly, "Elder, you need to think of a solution."
"Aren’t I thinking of one?" Mr. Ghost Hayes shrugged, unconcerned.
After a moment of silence, Hunter asked, "Elder, is it true that you have no way to deal with it and have been just stalling for time?"
Mr. Ghost Hayes froze.
He stopped shaking his leg and picking his teeth, then after a moment his eyes started darting around, "What nonsense are you spouting? Me, without a solution? That’s a joke!"
Hunter Dalton watched him silently: "..."
Mr. Ghost Hayes stood up angrily, "What kind of look is that?! Eh? I was practicing my art before you were even born! You dare to question me?!"
"Does your agitation come from feeling guilty?" Hunter asked.
"Bullshit! You don’t understand anything, I don’t want to waste my breath with you!" Mr. Ghost Hayes huffed and puffed as he went inside.
Hunter watched Mr. Ghost Hayes’s retreating figure and finally said, "Elder, if you truly have no way out, perhaps you should return to Ghost Village and find the person who sold the ghost. Maybe you can figure out a solution. But please don’t be stubborn. If something goes wrong, neither of us can bear the consequences. You and I both know Master Xander’s temper; skinning and bone stripping would be the least of it."
Mr. Ghost Hayes’s step faltered for a moment as he ascended the stairs.
He quickly steadied himself and then shivered as he went upstairs.
Yet he was thinking: Do you take me for a fool? Don’t I know I need to seek help? But if... if the problem remains unsolved, what about all the old buddies in my village?
If Alexander Summers wants to vent his anger, he might just wipe out the village, right? After all... the ghost was raised by them, sold by them; they’re accomplices.
Who doesn’t have the sentiment of returning to their roots? No matter how well Mr. Ghost Hayes lived on the outside, he had to return to his homeland in the end; his ancestors’ graves were there, he couldn’t disregard them.
But...
But...
He still didn’t want to die!!!
That Nathaniel Summers is really something else—how did he even find such a hidden place like Ghost Village?! And how did he get in touch with the ghost seller? It’s really freaking twisted!
Mr. Ghost Hayes paced anxiously inside the house, unable to sleep all night. He stared wide-eyed and by morning, his eyes were dark with circles, making him look much older overnight.
He knocked on Hunter Dalton’s door and coughed twice, "Um, Hunter, I have a matter to discuss with you..."
