Chapter 1142: Chapter 1142 Breakfast_1

Purple Summers held her forehead, protesting her innocence, "I wasn’t greedy before, it only changed after I got pregnant!"

Aunt Taylor laughed from aside, "Madam is hungry; it’s all my fault. I’ll go get the breakfast right now."

Having said that, she went to the kitchen.

Purple snuggled up to Atra Blanc, hugging her arm and acting coquettishly, "I want to drink the porridge from yesterday again."

"There’s no time to make it now, wait till you come back in the afternoon, and Mom will make it for you, okay?"

"Mhm, okay!" Purple nodded, still clinging to Atra’s arm.

Atra smiled and said, "How is it that the bigger you get, the more you act like a little child?"

Alexander Summers came downstairs and the first thing he saw was this affectionate scene between mother and daughter, both being the most important women in his life. Alexander’s heart instantly softened, as if yesterday’s rage had disappeared like smoke in the air.

Maybe Purple was right; he really did need time. Every one of them needed time.

Aunt Taylor brought out the breakfast.

Alexander quietly walked over, sat down, and joined them for breakfast without a word.

"I’ll take you to the Prosecutor’s Office for your internship later, then head to the airport," he said while eating. "There are some matters to attend to in Pearlpoint, but I will be back over the weekend."

Purple replied, "That’s right, now that you’re the mayor, you can’t always stay in Kingsley."

Alexander gave a slight nod, looking towards Atra, "Mom, while I’m away, please keep an eye on her for me, and don’t let her wander off everywhere."

Upon hearing this, Atra seriously sized up Purple’s belly, fully agreeing with her son, "Indeed, she shouldn’t wander around. Twins usually start earlier; you never know when they might be born."

After finishing, she asked Purple, "How much longer will you need to do your internship?"

"Two months of internship," Purple replied. "The first two months of the semester are for the internship and the last two months for writing the thesis, something about what we learned from the internship, and the like."

"That’s good then. According to the timeline, it should be just about two months before they’re born," Atra slightly reassured, and then she laughed again, "After you have the kids, the house is going to be even livelier."

Alexander’s thin lips curved slightly, his expression pleased.

He wasn’t much for kids, but listening to Atra put it like that, he couldn’t help but yearn for that kind of life.

This breakfast turned out to be the most relaxing and enjoyable meal Alexander had in recent days.

...

After the meal, Alexander took Purple to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Just before she got out of the car, he pulled her close and kissed her gently on the forehead, then bent down to kiss her belly, struggling to let go.

"Behave yourselves while I’m not here, and listen to Mom," he said earnestly.

Purple laughed, "As if they could understand."

Alexander pressed his ear to her stomach, then looked up at her, "Aren’t you always saying I’m a pervert? Then my kids are little perverts, they surely understand."

"You’re talking nonsense again!" Purple pinched his ear.

The more he spoke, the more outrageous he got; what kind of father calls his own flesh and blood perverts?!

Purple was both annoyed and amused.

Maybe it was because Alexander was always playing the fool that even this goodbye didn’t feel very sad.

After getting out of the car, Purple entered the Prosecutor’s Office, running into the old lady again at the entrance.

There were quite a few people coming and going at the entrance of the courtyard, but none of them paid any attention to her. The old lady didn’t stop people as she did before either; she just stood silently against the wall, clutching a photo—a mix of despair, unwillingness to give up, and a helpless wandering between knowing what to do next.

Purple glanced at the time; it was already nine o’clock.

She hesitated for a moment, then withdrew her gaze and walked into the Prosecutor’s Office.

...

The work was the same as always, and so were the colleagues, but for some reason, she felt particularly off today.

It was as if there was something unsettling in her heart.

After organizing a document, Purple remembered the nightmare from last night. In her dream, she grew old slowly, just like the old lady, until in the end, she was left all alone...
