Chapter 1126: Chapter 1126: Fear of Regret_1

As they were chatting, Purple Summers’s phone rang, showing a call from Mrs. Jameson.

"It’s your mom," Purple said, lifting her phone for Zara to see.

Zara curled her lips into a wry smile.

Purple answered the call, and Mrs. Jameson asked on the other end, "Purple, is Zara at your place?"

"She is," Purple glanced at Zara, "We just finished eating. Now we’re enjoying some tea, and we plan to go out later. Don’t worry too much."

"She said she wanted to go out for some air, and we were all worried. Knowing she’s with you puts us at ease," Mrs. Jameson said. "We’re not forcing her to give up the baby, just hoping she’ll think it over more, because... this is no trivial matter. Once the baby is born, life will change significantly. If she has thought it all through, we will respect her choice."

Purple felt that it must have been very difficult for Mrs. Jameson to say these words.

Wanting to persuade her daughter while fearing to upset her, she carefully weighed her words. Mrs. Jameson must have mulled over her speech repeatedly before ultimately choosing not to say it directly to Zara, entrusting Purple instead.

"Alright, I’ll talk to her," Purple said. "Actually, a change of environment can also be good, it can help her think more clearly. Rest assured, Zara has always been smart. She’ll know what to do."

No sooner had Purple finished her call than Zara’s phone began to ring.

It was from Ryan Wesley.

Purple and Jane immediately tensed, watching intently as Zara took the call.

After a nearly five- or six-minute conversation and hanging up, Zara looked at her two friends, puzzled, "Why are you both staring at me?"

"What did Ryan say?" Jane couldn’t wait to ask.

"He said he will listen to me," Zara replied.

Hearing this, Jane’s face showed disapproval: "That’s quite indecisive, isn’t it?"

"I think it’s quite nice," Purple said with a smile, "Zara always has her own opinions. Although Ryan may lack them, his ability to take action is strong. They complement each other well."

"Based on that logic, should I find a guy with really strong opinions in the future?" Jane asked curiously, "I feel like I lack decisiveness myself, or if I have any, it lasts only about three minutes."

"Janie, don’t change the subject. We can talk about your issue later; let’s focus on Zara’s for now," Purple turned to Zara. "Did Ryan say anything else? You talked for quite a few minutes."

"He said..." Zara hesitated, clutching her phone, "He said, if I’ve made up my mind, we would get married this October. The weather is neither cold nor hot then, it’s very comfortable. The baby would be less than three months old, so the wedding dress shouldn’t be an issue. His uncle has been adding to a fund for him every year. If we use it, before our jobs stabilize, we should be able to support the baby without a problem..."

Zara’s voice trailed off as she spoke, and at the end, she let out a long sigh, "I know it’s all too rushed now. If possible, I wish to graduate normally, work a regular job, marry in the usual way, and then have the baby when everything is stable. But now that the baby is here, I can’t just abandon him."

She lifted her head, looking at her two close friends, "I fear I might regret it later on. If I give up this baby now, I’ll remember it for the rest of my life and never find peace."

Purple and Jane were left speechless.

Zara was gentle on the outside but strong-willed on the inside. She appeared refined and delicate yet harbored a stubborn streak within.

Purple still remembered when they first met, how, during Henry’s case, the whole family tried to mediate things amicably, except Zara who would not concede.

There was silence in the living room.

Purple laughed softly, lightening the mood, "Hey, why so serious? We should look on the bright side. Think about it, Zara is getting married! Jane, you get to be a bridesmaid again! Congratulations!"
