Chapter 1124: Chapter 1124 A Different Situation_1
Alexander Summers’s flawed logic always seemed forceful and left Purple Summers unable to find a reason to counter.
He stretched out his hand, shooed Tiny away, and when Purple Summers was about to hit him, he ended up catching her hand instead.
Alexander sternly said, "Go inside and wash your hands, make sure they’re clean, they’re covered in germs."
Purple Summers deliberately used the hand that had touched Tiny to wipe across Alexander’s face.
Eventually, both of them went inside, one to wash hands, the other to wash their face.
...
Zara Jameson arrived at Pearlpoint in the evening.
She called Purple Summers to say she had reached the port, and Purple Summers sent someone to pick her up with the yacht.
At this time, dinner was due, and the dining room table at home was filled with a tantalizing array of dishes.
Purple Summers, sitting at the table, eagerly anticipated the reunion with her good friend. She heard noise from outside and hurried to welcome her guest, only to freeze at the sight of the person at the door.
Zara had come.
Jane McCain had come too.
In stark contrast to last time, it was Zara lugging a very large suitcase, while Jane had just a backpack.
Jane looked utterly exhausted.
Before Purple Summers could utter a question, Jane spoke first, "Zara is pregnant, and Aunt Jameson was worried something might happen to her on the way, so she had me come along to look after her."
Purple Summers’s eyes widened in shock as she gazed at Zara’s flat stomach.
"Just over a month," Zara said with a smile, looking composed and calm.
Purple Summers didn’t know what to say.
She was so surprised that nearly blurted out the question of whose child it was...
No wonder she had thought that way; Zara’s relationship with Ryan Wesley had always seemed slow to progress in her eyes! She had never even seen them holding hands!
There was an awkward silence for a moment.
Alexander broke the tension, saying, "Let’s eat first, and talk while we eat."
Jane, apparently very hungry, didn’t hesitate, dropped her backpack, and immediately took a seat.
Without Purple Summers needing to inquire further, Jane filled her in on everything during the meal.
Zara was indeed pregnant, and it was indeed Ryan Wesley’s child. Although Mr. and Mrs. Jameson weren’t too fond of Ryan, they always respected Zara’s choices and hadn’t interfered too much with the relationship.
But now there was a problem. Zara was pregnant and planning to take a leave of absence for a year for the sake of the child.
Her family, of course, disagreed.
Dating and marrying were two different things, and one might not end up together in the future, so having a child for someone so early was, in the eyes of Mr. and Mrs. Jameson, an extremely unwise action.
What’s more, to affect one’s studies for the sake of having a child was even less wise!
So, Zara fell out with her family and wanted a place to stay for a while. Knowing that Purple Summers was also pregnant, she thought Purple would definitely understand her feelings and thus sought refuge with her.
Jane said, "Actually, I also think it’s a bit too soon. Zara is still young, and there will be plenty of opportunities to have children later on. There’s no need to have one now. Waiting until conditions are more stable in the future to have a child is also a way of being responsible for the child, right?"
Purple Summers couldn’t help but say, "I’m even a year younger than Zara."
Purple Summers was only nineteen.
"Your situation is different," Jane said.
Purple Summers, confused, asked her, "How is it different?"
Jane blurted out, "Your age might be small, but your husband is older!"
A strange silence fell over the dining table.
Jane paused, then her heart skipped a beat as she realized she had misspoken.
Feeling guilty, she looked at Alexander who was silently eating and chose her words carefully, "What I mean is... maturity, a mature man is the most attractive, and this is the perfect age to be a dad. He won’t be too young, lacking the patience to raise a child, nor too old to lack the energy to accompany a child’s growth. Having a child now is just right, just right..."
Alexander looked at Jane as if he was observing someone else’s mischievous child.
He leisurely swallowed a piece of chicken breast, hummed in agreement, and said, "I think so too."
