Chapter 1116: Chapter 1116: That Woman_1
Several cars sped along the road.
Purple Summers sat in the car, the whole time clutching her hands tightly, lips pursed, her expression going still as a statue in the light streaking past the car window.
When they returned to the villa, the entire building was brightly lit, and the police car lights outside the courtyard were glaring and blinding.
Purple’s grip tightened on her fingers, and as soon as the car stopped, the bodyguard opened the door for her. She stepped out of the car and hurried into the house without saying a word.
The sounds around her ears seemed to be muffled by layers of fog.
"That woman is extraordinarily skilled, as if she’s been trained from a young age as an assassin."
"...Drug dealers along the border often pick up orphans to turn them into murder machines, working for drug lords."
"If we hadn’t diverted our men, she might not have been able to break in..."
As Purple entered through the door, the living room was as bright as day, the light reflecting off the cold marble floor made the bloodstains appear even more red and striking.
There were many people around, police officers were moving a body onto a stretcher and then carried it out of the villa.
Purple saw the body of a man, one of her family’s bodyguards.
Then there was a young woman; she bore a five or six point resemblance to her. Her eyes wide open, lifeless, with a dark hole in the center of her forehead.
"Madam!" A bodyguard followed the police out and just caught sight of Purple entering the house, immediately shouting out.
Purple snapped back to reality, looked in the direction of the voice and saw that bodyguard’s arm soaked in blood.
"Is it serious?" Purple asked him.
The bodyguard shook his head and said, "Mr. Summers is upstairs; don’t worry."
Clearly the bodyguard knew Purple’s heart was all for Alexander and, fearing she might overthink, he quickly spoke up to reassure her.
At his words, Purple felt a moment of disarray, but by the time she came to her senses, the bodyguard had already left to tend to his wounds.
She steadied herself, worked her way through the people in the living room, and headed straight upstairs.
Upon glancing up, she immediately saw Alexander Summers’ silhouette.
He was standing at the study’s door, talking to a police officer, his brow slightly furrowed, probably discussing the circumstances of the attack.
Alexander caught sight of Purple approaching, his eyes slightly lifted in surprise.
After a recent incident at home, he had not yet sent her a message; how could Purple have returned so suddenly?
"What happened?" He took a few steps toward her, grabbed her hands, and looked her over, checking to see if she was unharmed, and only then did he slightly relax.
"Was there some trouble at the hotel?" Alexander asked.
After asking, however, he realized that Purple did not answer, but instead was staring blankly at the blood stains on his shirt.
Alexander understood and said, "Purple, this isn’t my blood."
Purple’s nerves suddenly relaxed.
But thinking of the two bodyguards, one dead and one injured, that brief relief became heavy again in an instant.
The officer said, "Mr. Summers, we have a good understanding of the situation. If needed, we might have to disturb you again tomorrow."
Alexander held Purple’s shoulders and gave the officer a slight nod, "Thank you for your hard work."
The officer nodded and left.
Upstairs and downstairs in the house was noisy and chaotic with the investigation and evidence collection; and eventually, everything would need to be cleaned up, which probably wouldn’t settle down for a while.
Alexander took Purple to the guest room.
As soon as he entered the room, he took off the blood-stained shirt he was wearing, half-naked he pulled Purple onto the bed to lie down, then reached out to take off her loosely fitting coat.
Beneath it, the slip dress had thin straps, accentuating the delicate curve of her collarbones, Alexander squinted his eyes and smiled faintly, "So eager, hm? Running back here in your slip dress, huh?"
While speaking, he also touched her belly with a light tone, "Which Little Baby missed me?"
Suddenly, Purple hugged him tight, her arms firmly around his neck, her head buried in the crook of his shoulder, not saying a word.
Alexander was taken aback for a moment, then understood, and gently stroked her back, coaxing, "I won’t get hurt... Have you forgotten? Mr. Ghost Hayes has cast a life spell on me..."
Clutching him, Purple asked softly, "Did that woman want to kill you?"
Alexander was silent for a moment, then replied with a low "Mhm."
