Chapter 1112: Chapter 1112: Psychological Shock_1
Purple Summers and Alexander Summers left the hospital together.
On the way, her chest felt tight, and her emotions were dense with sadness, like a heavy rock pressing down on her heart.
Not long after they arrived home, Alexander’s mobile phone rang.
Whatever the caller said on the other end, Alexander’s expression was somewhat odd. He glanced at Purple and said faintly, "Okay, we’ll be careful."
Then he hung up.
Purple felt something was amiss and asked him, "Who called?"
"The prosecutor," Alexander paused, then continued, "Not long after we left, your classmate suddenly suffered from respiratory failure. Despite emergency treatment, he died."
Purple’s eyes widened in disbelief, "He was fine just a moment ago!"
"Purple, he had always been in a critical condition and wasn’t fine..." Alexander gently embraced her, "He lost too much blood, and many of his organs had failed. The doctors did all they could."
Purple pursed her lips tightly, her nose tingling, and her throat uncomfortably clogged.
She never knew that someone’s death could make her so upset.
Norton Young was dead.
Just half an hour ago, he had spoken with her.
Half an hour later, she was told of his passing.
It was too cruel...
Norton’s parents hadn’t even had the time to rush over from out of town.
Purple closed her eyes and silently burrowed into Alexander’s embrace.
Alexander stroked her back and said in a low voice, "The police have a problem with the alibi check. Norton was murdered late at night, and all those women were sleeping in their rooms, meaning someone must have sneaked out, or else the perpetrator was not among them. The prosecutor called to warn us to be careful. The culprit might act again soon, possibly targeting you..."
The killer kept sending roses, and the purpose was self-evident.
From the beginning, the one the killer wanted to murder had always been Purple, and now, having spent a long time in Norton’s hospital room, the killer had even more reason to make a move.
"We’ll know if we try," said Purple, still with her eyes closed, her voice calm with no hint of fluctuation, "If I move in and live with them, and if the real killer is indeed among them, they will definitely come after me."
Alexander caught his breath, his gaze growing heavy, "Do you think I would agree to this?"
"Of course I’m not really going to live with them." Purple lifted her head, looking seriously at Alexander, "I wouldn’t risk our child’s safety. I know there are rooms in the hotel that have a connecting middle door. We can use a smoke bomb to make the killer think I’m staying in room 101, then set a trap in that room. When the killer enters, I’ll have already moved to room 102 through a hidden door, with no danger whatsoever."
Alexander frowned intensely. He knew about such rooms; they were a design feature of the hotel, where the connecting doors between two rooms were disguised as mirrors, making them invisible from the outside and providing excellent concealment.
But he still didn’t feel at ease with Purple taking risks.
He thought Purple was acting impulsively because of the shock of her classmate’s death.
People often react this way; if death is not witnessed directly, the emotional impact upon hearing the news isn’t too profound, but if one has seen or spoken to the person just before their death, the feeling is quite different.
Then, Purple said again, "There is no such thing as being able to guard against a thief every day. We can never be at peace until we find this person. I will bring a gun, and if you still think it’s not safe enough, you can set up more traps in the room or arrange for several people to hide in there!"
The urgency was evident in her voice.
Alexander knew then that Purple was serious.
A direct refusal might be something she couldn’t overcome, while letting her go would keep Alexander on tenterhooks.
After pondering for a moment, he said, "If you insist on going, I will take care of setting up the room."
