Chapter 76: Chapter 76: All Deep Love Is a Secret (4)
Staring at the figure on the bed for a long time, he finally stepped inside.
Compared to before, the room seemed to have gained a touch of color and become a bit more disheveled.
Ever since she moved in, he had not returned, and ironically, the reason for his absence was fear.
Even he did not know exactly what he was afraid of.
Was he afraid that she would despise him?
Or was he afraid that he would lose control and desire her?
Or perhaps he was afraid of falling in love with her again...
He quietly walked to the window, placing the box in his hand on the bedside, his gaze falling on Qiao Mo’s small face, and his eyes growing moist.
"Xiao Mo... do you really not remember me?"
He spoke softly, his fingertips trembling slightly as they touched her eyes, cool to the touch.
Staring at that small face for a long time, his eyes gradually became moist as he gently brushed over her eyes... her nose...
Little one, how could you so calmly forget me so completely?
A struggle flashed through his eyes, and in that rich, unchangeable emotion, slowly turned into a trace of resentment, and after a long while, gradually became a hidden pain!
He didn’t know how long it took before he finally lowered his gaze and stood up.
Gently placing her hand, left outside the blanket, back inside, he softly left a kiss on her forehead: "Goodnight."
In her sleep, Qiao Mo only felt a coolness on her cheek, as if a drop of water had fallen.
She turned slightly, still deeply asleep.
Fu Nancheng turned off the wall lamp and quietly left the room.
The next morning, as soon as Qiao Mo woke up, she immediately looked around, seemingly trying to search for signs of him.
Unfortunately, the room was just the same as before, clearly without his presence.
When her gaze landed on the bedside, Qiao Mo couldn’t help but be a bit dazed; a delicately wrapped pink gift box lay quietly there.
She remembered that the box hadn’t been there last night.
Gently opening the packaging, a small wooden house met her eyes, but the little house looked somewhat disheveled, covered with quite a few white bandages, crisscrossing as if venting dissatisfaction, yet it appeared somewhat cute, bringing a slight smile to Qiao Mo’s face.
Gently pressing a switch on one side, the little house instantly lit up, warmly and inexplicably cute.
But then, thinking of Fu Nancheng’s cold face, Qiao Mo’s small face fell again.
Was it for her?
Probably not...
After dressing, Qiao Mo asked Uncle Zhong for Fu Nancheng’s phone number, but no one answered despite calling for a long time.
Having no choice, Qiao Mo asked Uncle Zhong about his company and directly went there.
Unfortunately, without an appointment, the receptionist would not allow her to enter, let alone meet him.
So she quietly sat in a corner of the lobby, watching the people coming and going.
She sat there the entire day, until nine in the evening, when a security guard approached her and said, "Miss, we’re about to close."
Qiao Mo looked around, realizing that she didn’t know when everyone had left, and she softly asked, "Has Mr. Fu left?"
"Sorry, I don’t know," replied the guard.
"Thank you," Qiao Mo whispered, feeling a wave of disappointment welling up inside her, as she left the building and stood under the eaves outside, where the sky had already turned completely dark. The drizzle fell freely under the warm yellow lights, permeating a chill.
Pulling her clothes tighter, Qiao Mo suddenly didn’t know where to go.
She hadn’t brought an umbrella and didn’t know how long the rain would last.
Watching the people coming and going around her, she felt like a mere stranger observing.
Across the street, on a corner, a black car was parked, its headlights casting long beams in the rainy night.
