Chapter 93: All On The Same Page
"Fuck the outside of the house. I want every place that the intruder went burned. I will not have you living in a house that a stranger walked through. The whole thing needs to burn from the inside out until there is nothing left but ashes."
The sound coming out of Bai Long Qiang’s mouth didn’t even sound human.
His four remaining teammates looked at each other. They could hear only one side of the conversation, and they were getting more than a little worried about him. Ye Yao Zu stepped forward, his arm out to touch Bai Long Qiang, but Cheng Bo Jing held him back and shook his head.
"Not our place. Let him purge this from his system. He’ll be fine after that," murmured the man as he pulled Ye Yao Zu back to the others.
"You think he’ll be fine?" asked Ye Yao Zu, his eyebrow raised in disbelief. Bai Long Qiang just shot a fireball out of his hand, and Cheng Bo Jing thought that everything would be fine?
-----
"Is that all?" whispered Wang Tian Mu inside of his ear.
"No. Once it consumes our house, the fire will move on to the next one, and the one after that, and the one after that. The flames will keep going until the entire city is nothing more than a pile of ashes floating on the breeze."
"And that will make you happy? I need you to be happy," she continued her voice a siren’s call. If she asked him to die right now, he would cheerfully slit his own throat and meet her in the afterlife.
"I will not be happy until you are in my arms again."
"Then let your fire burn. Look at it. Look at what you gave birth to. Tell it what you expect, and then turn around and walk away. I am not here. Fine me, Prince Charming. Come find me."
Bai Long Qiang suddenly blinked, and reality came rushing back in. He could no longer feel the heat of Wang Tian Mu pressed up against his side; he could no longer hear her voice in his head.
His eyes focused on the bright red light in front of him.
"What?" he breathed, cocking his head to the side.
The door to the house was gone, and flames were rushing through the house.
"Fan Teng Fei isn’t the only superhero," chuckled Si Dong, coming to stand beside him. "You are a less hot Phoenix with the fire and everything."
"Can you speak English?" snapped Bai Long Qiang. Everything was happening just as he thought it in his head. But why couldn’t he remember everything that Wang Tian Mu had said to him?
"A fireball shot out your hand, and the door was gone. Apparently, you won’t be satisfied until the entire city burns down to the ground. Are we going to wait around for that to happen, or are we going to get going?" asked Si Dong, not seeming upset over either option.
"We still have to go to City Y and help them with their little zombie problem," smirked Cheng Bo Jing as he raised an eyebrow. He was firmly on Bai Long Qiang’s side with this. City Y sat back and watched City D fall. It was only fair that they fall next.
---
"So, are you going to try burning any of these zombies?" grumbled Si Dong as he took off another head.
They had been heading north toward City Y for the past few days, and this was the first time they had run into some zombies.
If they had been military, Si Dong would have accused them of being the army’s scouts, but that was impossible... right?
They were smarter than the average bear, but that didn’t mean that they were trained...
Unless...
Nope. Not possible. This was not an elite group of soldiers out on a recon mission. These were mindless zombies looking for some fresh brains. Nothing more. Nothing less.
"Nah, I’m not going to waste my fire on them," smiled Bai Long Qiang, but the look in his eyes spoke volumes. Hell, there was even a twinge of madness growing there in the depths. "I think we need to hack off a few limbs, more than just the head."
"But that will just make more of them," stuttered Ye Yao Zu, turning around to look at his leader. "There are already thousands of them; why make more?"
"Why not? I think it would be fun and give City Y something to do. And then, once City Y learned the hard way that taking off the heads didn’t actually help, it would be too late, and the tide would move on to City J or any of the other cities. Fuck, if things work out, the zombies can take over the entire country. Now, that would be entertaining."
"And what will we be doing during that time?" asked Cheng Bo Jing taking off first one arm of the zombie in front of him and then the other. It was hard work only using the tactical knife that was part of their kit, but where there was a will, there was a way.
"If we aren’t making more zombies, maybe we can get them to take us to see Wang Tian Mu," shrugged Bai Long Qiang.
"You aren’t making any sense," grumbled Ye Yao Zu. "The zombies can’t take us to see Wang Tian Mu."
"He is on a suicide mission to take down all the military bases in Country K because they were the reason why we weren’t home when this happened. And once the military is gone, we will be joining them. That is how the zombies will be taking us to see Wang Tian Mu," explained Fan Teng Fei as he took out three zombies in front of him at the legs.
Three zombies turned to nine...
Take nine heads, and you get eighteen.
Fan Teng Fei smiled as he did the math in his head. With this group alone, they could easily create a few hundred more zombies.
One of the zombies in front of him looked at the smile on his face and turned around to run away, but once again, Fan Teng Fei took out his legs.
"Twenty."
"And no one else has an issue with a suicide mission?" asked Ye Yao Zu, raising his eyebrow as he shot the zombie in front of him enough times to take the head off. He would need to work harder. His score was two to Fan Teng Fei’s twenty.
When no one said anything, Ye Yao Zu smiled. "Perfect, just wanted to make sure that we were all on the same page."
