Chapter 78: Getting Settled
Chapter 78: Getting Settled
The next time I opened my eyes, everyone was home.
"Morning," I groaned as I sat up. I looked at Cheng Bo Jing, unable to hide the blush on my face. I can’t believe that I had actually slept on him all night long.
I can’t believe that he let me.
"Morning, Sweetheart," smiled Bai Long Qiang, his lips ghosting over top of my forehead. "Did you have a good sleep?"
"Not bad, actually," I murmured. "Then again, compared to sleeping on the floor of an SUV, the couch is fantastic."
"That good," he laughed, his eye twinkling. "But next time, try to get to bed before you pass out."
I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth to say some sort of smart ass response, but Zeng Xian Liang interrupted from over in the kitchen. "Do you have any orange juice?" he asked, his body practically inside of the fridge.
Thank God the EMP didn’t affect my bunkers; I would have been screwed if my fridges and freezers stopped working.
"Yup! It should be in the doorway!" I yelled back. I came to my feet with a low groan. My back was really not impressed with the way I had been sleeping lately.
"Are you sure? I can’t see it!"
Letting out a huff, knowing exactly how he was looking, I walked over to the kitchen and hip-checked him out of the way.
"Here," I grumbled, pulling the jug out of the fridge and setting it on the counter in front of him.
"You’re the best!" he smiled, and I turned around to go back to the living room.
"The world is going to be in chaos soon," said Bai Long Qiang when I sat down beside him. "You need to prepare."
Both Cheng Bo Jing and Ye Yao Zu looked at him like he was an idiot. Hell, even I was surprised with what he said.
Based on my calculations, even with the six of us living here, I had enough supplies to last us for at least five to six years. And that was if I didn’t plant a garden in the summer and grow some food of my own.
I did not need to deal with going out right now.
"I think she is good," muttered Fan Teng Fei as he walked into the living room, holding a steaming cup of coffee.
"Still, you can never have too many supplies," muttered Bai Long Qiang as he leaned back against the couch. "I don’t want her to do without. You know as well as I do that no one will make a move for the first three days."
"And today would be day three," pointed out Ye Yao Zu.
My head was hurting too much for me to listen to them bitching. I was more than prepared for whatever the world threw at me; thank you very much.
"I am going to take a shower. Help yourself to anything you need. Like I told Zeng Xian Liang, each one of you has a room here, and your names are on the door."
"Who the fuck is Zeng Xian Liang?" asked Bai Long Qiang, looking at me strangely.
"Uh, that would be me," chuckled Si Dong as he walked out of the kitchen.
Once again, I rolled my eyes and chuckled. The guys were worse than high school kids sometimes.
Turning around, I walked down the hallway and into my bedroom, closing the door behind me.
There were a lot of things that I had to think about and organize, and going out to get supplies was so far down my list it was number 139.
Stripping and getting into the shower, I let the water wash over me, relaxing my muscles and waking me up better than a cup of coffee.
----
"You guys good?" I asked as I walked out of my room, braiding my wet hair and letting it settle over my shoulder. I was in leggings and a sweater now that everyone was around. I couldn’t be walking around in my pajamas all the time.
Besides, this was the next best thing.
"We’re good!" yelled Zeng Xian Liang. All five of the guys were sitting around the tv, watching an action movie and complaining about everything it got wrong.
Never watch a police show with a police officer, a medical show with a doctor, or an action movie with a soldier. We can ruin it in less than fifteen minutes.
You’re welcome.
"Sounds good. I am going to be around," I waved at them before walking away.
I went up the ladder to the entrance. I wanted to make sure that they had closed everything properly. It was fine that they were able to get in, but I really didn’t want anyone else to be able to invade my sanctuary like that.
The chain and lock were still hanging just as I left it. Well, wasn’t that considerate of them to do that?
Satisfied that no one else would get in, I went down the ladder and walked to the other end of the bunker, away from the living area.
The layout of the bunker was really simple. Probably too simple if I really thought about it. I should have added more tunnels and escapes if I was taking it more seriously.
As it was, the 2,100 square feet was designed like a rectangle with the raspberry hatch in the dead center. From there, if you moved toward the back, you got to the living room and kitchen with three bathrooms and four bedrooms in the hallway off to the side of the living room.
If you went in the opposite direction, you would get to the surveillance room, the armory (thank you, Cheng Bo Jing), and an overflow pantry. A hidden door behind one of the pantry shelves was the tunnel leading to the food bunker, and that fed into the medical bunker.
A hidden door in the kitchen led to the tunnel connecting to the main cabin on the surface, just in case I needed another way out.
I headed toward the surveillance room. I wanted to check the cameras inside of the cabin to see if anyone managed to get in there or not.
