Chapter 538: Chapter 536: Magic Bullet and Artillery Battalion
Somewhere, in an underground hall, many people were busy, constantly coming and going.
On a table in the hall, there were large quantities of documents. Franklin sat in front of the table, continuously flipping through the documents, occasionally making quick sketches with a quill.
His eyes were bloodshot, looking as if he hadn’t rested in a long time. He wore a crumpled blue robe that also looked unwashed for days, making him appear somewhat shabby. Many others around Franklin were just as busy, equally worn out by their tasks.
Just then, hurried footsteps sounded. A person burst through the hall doors—Franklin’s subordinate, the red-haired "Fire Spirit" Promi.
Promi’s face bore a mix of surprise and panic as he ran to Franklin’s desk and called out, "Captain, captain, there’s trouble. Jos’s group has lost all contact."
"Hmm," Franklin responded simply, his reaction sluggish due to processing too much information. He didn’t look up but continued to read the documents.
Promi was stunned.
About three seconds later, Franklin suddenly realized the severity, stood up abruptly, grabbed Promi’s clothing, and pulled him close, bellowing, "What—say that again." He had only roared one word before he realized his outburst and quickly lowered his voice, but his gaze remained fixed on Promi, fierce as if he could devour him.
"I... gulp!" Promi swallowed nervously, cautiously saying, "Captain, I just found out. Jos’s group is totally out of reach, and the surveillance crystal ball has gone dark too."
"Weren’t they the ones I sent to investigate Art’s matter?" Franklin frowned deeply.
"Yes," Promi weakly nodded. "They were indeed following your orders to investigate Art’s issue, and it seemed they were making some breakthroughs, but then suddenly we lost all contact with them."
"Damn..." Franklin could no longer suppress his emotions. He was about to curse aloud when suddenly the hall door opened, and the Muse Housekeeper walked in, her gaze sweeping around nonchalantly.
Franklin’s expression rapidly shifted from anger to impatience. His voice suddenly smoother and lower, he told Promi, "Handle it... however it should be handled. Just follow the procedure, no need to report back to me. Think of a plan now, and later I’ll review your plan and assign the manpower. Got it?"
"Uh."
"Go on, then," Franklin waved Promi away.
Without saying anything more, Promi quickly left.
The Muse Housekeeper’s gaze swept over Franklin, but she said nothing and walked to the deepest part of the hall, settling into her designated seat.
Franklin left his spot and quickly prepared honey water, bringing it to the Muse Housekeeper’s table.
Muse sipped it and nodded with satisfaction, sinking deeply into the soft seat, and lazily asked Franklin, "How are things recently?"
"Everything is normal, Muse Housekeeper," Franklin replied. "Though there are occasional minor issues, everything is under control and proceeding according to your plan. You needn’t worry at all."
"That’s good. You may go now," Muse said, taking another sip of honey water, reclining in her seat, and closing her eyes.
Franklin quickly retreated, then exited the hall.
Outside in the hallway, at the corridor’s end, Franklin found Promi, who had been waiting.
Franklin’s expression had reverted to anger, dark and mixed with faint traces of fear, and he asked his subordinate, "What exactly happened to Jos’s group? Tell me everything."
"I—" Promi hesitated, then truthfully said, "I only noticed something was wrong recently. Suddenly, we couldn’t contact them anymore, and then we tested with the crystal ball and found it was darkened too. I fear it might be the same fate as Art’s—more likely bad news than good."
"Damn it!" Franklin finally cursed, clenching his fists tightly.
His eyes flickered intensely as he pondered for a moment, then Franklin spoke, "If that’s the case... then find a way to gather everyone in the team, tell those on a mission to speed up, and those who are far away to hurry back.
I’m here in person this time. I want to see who it is that dares to oppose us, who is seeking death! Right, keep this matter confidential, don’t let the Muse Housekeeper or any other teams know about it, understand?!"
"Yes."
...
Inside Eden.
Mechanical Processing Sector, laboratory.
Richard was busy researching and designing a weapon that was unprecedented.
On the workbench, a 315 Alloy Bullet was completed; Richard picked it up with his fingers and fitted it into an empty cartridge case, then filled the case with Magic Salt before sealing the bottom of the cartridge.
Upon close inspection, one would realize that Richard’s creation resembled an ordinary bullet from Earth remarkably. However, its power was incomparably greater than any bullet on Earth.
The Magic Salt alone was modified from Five Imidazole Anion Salt, making it one of the most powerful explosives ever invented on Earth.
And the 315 Alloy, based on Metallic Hydrogen blended with the current world’s magic, was an Earthly theoretical creation.
The combined effect of these two were unimaginable!
After the Magic Salt exploded, it could accelerate the Alloy Bullet to an unimaginable speed, and the bullet itself also possessed immense explosive power. This was essentially like compressing a High Explosive Shell into a bullet.
This was a Magic Bullet!
One Magic Bullet was equivalent to firing a High Explosive Shell!
What about two? Three? Ten, a hundred?
The strongest army on Earth might have about 20 artillery pieces in a self-propelled artillery battalion. One hundred Magic Bullets were almost equivalent to the volley of 5 artillery battalions, far surpassing the firepower of a regular artillery regiment.
And a thousand?
Was there anything in this world that a thousand shells could not resolve or destroy? If so, then fire another thousand!
In fact, Magic Bullets differed from traditional High Explosive Bombs in that their power was more focused and intense due to the physical explosion caused by the Alloy Bullets.
Explosions can be of various types, such as Nuclear Explosions, Chemical Explosions, Physical Explosions, and High Energy Particle Beam Explosions, etc.
The explosion from Alloy Bullets was a Physical Explosion, similar to the Liquid Oxygen Explosions Richard frequently used long ago. This type of explosion, compared to conventional chemical explosions, lacked flames and thermal destructive forces, did not involve the conversion of gases from explosives, thus concentrating the force more intensely. It destroyed everything in thunderous, continuous roars without a fearsome barrage of fire.
Of course, to achieve this, there were many problems to solve.
For instance, what kind of device would be used to launch the bullets? If using firearms from Earth, how could one ensure the firearms could withstand it? How could one prevent the Metallic Bullets from immediately exploding due to the stimulation of the Magic Salt, causing a premature explosion in the barrel? And then there was more...
Numerous issues had to be resolved.
Richard, having only a rough idea at present, looked at the first model of the Magic Bullet in his hands, continually pondering. He considered how to turn his ideas into reality and how to use this device to give the Mysterious Organization a huge surprise at the right moment.
