Chapter 525: Chapter 523: The Prediction Skill Method of Solving Problems
Days kept passing by, one after another.
Many days later, at dusk.
The western sun slowly sank behind the mountains, casting an age-old golden glow across the land, as if gilding everything with a layer of gold.
In the courtyard where Richard lived, in the yard.
Pandora sat on a small wooden stool, holding a Papyrus Scroll in her hands and biting on a Quill, working on problems—this had become her norm of late.
Her eyes were fixed on several calculation problems on the papyrus, her brow furrowed as she mumbled vaguely, "So hard, so hard."
After mumbling for a while and not finding a way to solve the problems, Pandora simply shifted her gaze to another part of the scroll, planning to tackle the easy questions first and save the tough ones for tomorrow—who knows? Maybe after a night’s sleep she would be smarter, or perhaps the answers would come to her in a dream.
Although the probability was quite low, to be a dragon was to have dreams. What was the difference between a dragon without dreams and that wild boar that always cuts in line for water in the forest?
With that thought, Pandora looked at the easy problems.
So, what constituted an easy problem? Obviously, the ones that didn’t require a process or calculation, the sort that could be guessed correctly whether you knew the answer or not.
Pandora’s gaze landed on the bottom right corner of the scroll, where the problems all started with a long passage, followed by four answers listed underneath. She just had to pick the correct one out of the four.
She didn’t know what this type of question was called—Richard seemed to have mentioned it once, but she hadn’t remembered. Regardless of whether she knew the name of the question type, she always treated it as one of her favorite types to solve.
Because, even if she didn’t read the question, she could mark most of the correct answers by simply guessing among the four options. She didn’t know why this was the case, whether it was luck or something else, but she didn’t mind it in the least.
Such an ability would be great if it could be stronger.
With this thought in her mind, Pandora opened her mouth to release the quill she bit on, dipped it in the ink, and without even looking, started ticking answers beneath the questions.
First question, four possible answers; the first answer was the shortest, yep, that was the one.
Second question, four possible answers; the second answer was the longest, yep, that was the one.
Third question, four possible answers, all the same length; this one...
Pandora hesitated slightly, but in the next moment decided to randomly choose one, her hand reaching for the last answer. But just as she was about to make her mark, it was as if she heard a voice in her heart, a special feeling flashed through her mind, and her hand inadvertently ticked the third option instead.
Then Pandora rapidly "shush shush shush" ticked the answers for the remaining questions, completing the ten questions lickety-split.
After finishing, Pandora lifted her head, looking to the side with a bit of guilt, afraid that Richard might have noticed her little trick, but it seemed Richard hadn’t paid her any attention, which made her feel relieved.
She stuck out her tongue and turned her attention back to the scroll to look for other simple problems.
...
On the side, Richard was indeed not paying attention to Pandora. Instead, he paced back and forth in the yard, pondering the detailed work of rebuilding Eden.
For the tedious tasks, it was hard to take shortcuts; doing them personally would obviously take a lot of time. So, how could one reduce the time cost?
As Richard mulled over this, suddenly two whooshing sounds rang out, and the next moment, two figures jumped into the courtyard without warning.
Hm?
Richard raised his eyebrows and turned his head to see a young man and woman, both looking quite youthful.
The boy was around twenty, a Third-level Wizard Apprentice in Cultivation, with fair skin. His face was exquisitely flawless, with smooth and soft contoured features, and his long, slender eyes made him even prettier than many women.
He was holding a thin sword, his expression grim, wearing a brand-new sky-blue robe adorned with the insignia of flying fish—this was the uniform of Deep Blue Castle’s members, a Wizard Organization located southeast of Mo’er, closely associated with Death Valley, one of the many Wizard Powers in Florence City.
The girl was also around twenty, a Third-level Wizard Apprentice in Cultivation, but her skin was not the tender white that seemed breakable at a touch, it was a healthy wheat color. Her body didn’t appear to be delicate at all; her legs were long, tight, and powerful, and her hips were pert, exuding a dangerous and untamable wildness. She also held a sword, but the blade was four times wider than the boy’s—she wielded a Two-handed Sword in one hand!
The girl’s attire was a slightly worn tight-fit suit, modified from a robe; it was predominantly brown with green spots on the edges. Upon closer inspection, one could barely make out the shape of tree saplings after many washes—this was the uniform of members of the "Jungle Hut," a Wizard Organization located southwest of Mo’er, sprung from the same Source as the Tree Mushroom Forest, also one of the numerous Wizard Organizations in Florence City.
The man and woman, after landing in the yard, looked at each other, ready for a fight at a moment’s notice, as if they would break into combat if they disagreed on anything.
Pandora glanced up but found it uninteresting, and continued with her problems.
Richard, however, couldn’t help but think, "What now, trouble that falls from the sky? The details of rebuilding Eden aren’t even sorted yet, and now this disruption?"
While he was thinking this, the girl suddenly spoke up, seriously addressing Richard, "Hey there, and the little girl, don’t get nervous. Just so you know, I’m one of the good guys, so I won’t hurt you. Of course, this guy next to me is a bad guy; it’s hard to say he won’t get physical, but don’t worry, if he dares touch you, I’ll definitely stop him, protect you!"
"Uh..." Hearing this, Richard didn’t say much, his eyes flickered, and he stepped back into a corner with Pandora, then gestured to the girl in a way that handed the courtyard over to the pair.
The girl nodded her head, gave a reassuring look, then turned sharply to the boy, shouting with a great sense of justice, "Hey, Deep Blue Castle guy, see that? The owners of this courtyard are innocent, they mean no harm. You’ve been chasing me all the way here; if you’re a man, don’t lay a hand on them, got it! Otherwise, I’ll explode your head!"
The boy glanced at the girl and replied irritably, "Jungle Hut woman, no need to yell so loud, I can hear you! We, Deep Blue Castle, aren’t some evil force; naturally, we wouldn’t harm innocent people. Actually, I didn’t even plan on hurting you to begin with; it’s just you who stole our thing—our ’Star Night Meditation Hat,’ and you have to return it to us!"
