Chapter 503 - 502: The Female Slave at the Auction

Chapter 503: Chapter 502: The Female Slave at the Auction

On the wooden stage, the auction was underway.

The host, dressed in a glittering outfit that seemed made of glass shards, loudly declared the ownership of the auction item, "35,000 Gold Coins! Which converts to 3,500 Lower-grade Crystal Coins, or 35 High-grade Crystal Coins! Okay, this Star Night Meditation Hat from Deep Blue Castle now belongs to bidder number thirteen!"

With those words, the host pointed towards a table nearby.

There, placed on the table, was a teal-colored hat with a pointed tip, not made of ordinary fabric but rather some kind of special animal fur, adorned with a plethora of metal ornaments around the brim, each engraved with intricate designs—clearly, a highly complex and valuable Magic Tool.

A Meditation Hat, by its very name, is specifically designed to aid a person in meditation. It could significantly enhance the efficiency of meditation for Wizards or Wizard Apprentices. Even ordinary people might break through the challenges of Life Remolding and achieve an extraordinary experience—though the chances were incredibly slim.

It could be said that the Meditation Hat was immensely useful and, considering one couldn’t meditate all day, could be shared with others or even passed down to descendants. Therefore, as soon as it was presented, it sparked fierce competition and the price soared, breaking records since the start of the auction, reaching 35,000 Gold Coins.

However, Richard was not interested in it, for his method of meditation was entirely different from others; buying the hat would be a waste for him. Thus, he made no bids earlier. As a result, only three people around him harbored malice, while the hostility of many others was now directed towards the owner of the Meditation Hat—bidder number thirteen.

Although number thirteen did not possess items like "Judgement Feather," he could still feel the tangible hostility. Yet, he did not react too aggressively, merely pulling his cloak tighter around him to hide his entire face.

"Okay!" the host on the stage spoke again, gesturing for his assistant to take the auction item away while announcing, "As per the old rules, all transactions will be settled after the conclusion of the auction. Now please welcome our next item.

This item, um, isn’t as precious. After all, it would be hard to surpass the just auctioned Starry Sky Meditation Hat—that was riskily stolen from Deep Blue Castle, and it’s said that the people of Deep Blue Castle are still investigating it."

"You!" The winner of the auction item suddenly cried out, glowering at the host on the stage, but then quickly suppressed it and buried his face even deeper.

Undisturbed, the host on the stage continued, "Although the next item is not precious, it is extremely useful and would be of use to most of the people here."

After finishing his words, the host waved toward a corner of the stage!

Immediately, a young girl walked up, her skin pale and her frame slender, giving off a pitiful vibe just by the way she walked.

The girl, dressed in a pale blue outfit, her head bowed, seemed timid as she stopped beside the host, freezing as if she had accepted her fate as a piece of merchandise.

The host, displeased, shouted at the girl, "Lift your head."

The young girl trembled as if struck by electricity, raising her head to reveal an oval face and large eyes, though her expression was one of sourness and grievance.

"The host demanded coldly, "Smile!"

The young girl’s lips trembled a few times, as if in a struggle, but eventually she managed to lift the corners of her mouth and slightly curved her eyes, forcing a smile—actually not a bad smile, especially with its reluctantly cheerful appearance, quite captivating, eliciting murmurs from the bidders.

The host said, "There you go, gentlemen, our auction item is this girl. Beauty is subjective, and I won’t say much. But I must add, our item is not merely decorative, not just a plaything.

She is a knowledgeable scholar’s granddaughter, who, for various reasons, has ended up here. She knows six languages—three currently in use, and three ancient ones. She can help you translate books or communicate with some natives."

"Of course!" the host’s voice rose as he grabbed the girl’s upper garment. The girl extended a hand to stop him, but apparently recalling something terrifying, she stopped abruptly.

"Hmpf," the host let out an almost imperceptible scoff, shouting towards the numerous bidders below, "Of course, gentlemen, if you simply treat her as a plaything, that’s not a problem either.

After all, once you buy her, she belongs to you, and you can do whatever you please. And I assure you, even as a plaything, she has more flavor than most common items, as you’re about to see!"

"Rip!" With that, the host forcefully tore the girl’s garment, revealing her skin.

But beneath the clothing, the girl was not bare, or rather not entirely bare—her smooth skin was marked with numerous brilliant floral patterns. At first glance, it looked like a corner of a garden, with many flowers competing in beauty, two buds ready to bloom, irresistibly alluring.

The girl’s body trembled, her face desperately maintaining a smile, tears brimming in her eyes.

The bidders below made even louder murmuring noises.

The host smiled satisfactorily, feeling the moment was ripe, and shouted, "Alright, gentlemen, let’s begin. The starting bid is 1,500 Gold Coins, with each increase not less than 200 Gold Coins, start!"

"1,500 Gold Coins!"

No sooner had the host’s voice fallen than someone raised a bidding card.

Before the host could announce it, a second person lifted their card.

"1,700 Gold Coins!"

Then a third and fourth followed.

"1,900 Gold Coins!"

"2,100 Gold Coins!"

Clearly, despite not being as useful as the Starry Sky Meditation Hat, many were keen to acquire the girl—after all... good value for the price.

Richard sat in a corner, motionless, seemingly completely detached.

In reality... he truly was detached.

The introduction of the girl seemed somewhat similar to the Cat Slave Girl, Heidi; if he couldn’t see her, he might have actually taken an interest. But now having seen her, and certain she was not Heidi, he did not need to do anything.

Thinking further, Heidi was after all coming to rely on relatives. Even if these relatives might not be reliable and made Heidi scared, they wouldn’t likely sell Heidi as a female slave; otherwise, the Great Scholar wouldn’t have sent Heidi to them.

Then again, if he could find Heidi’s exact whereabouts and meet with her, this matter could be completely dropped, and there’d be no need for continued concern.

So, he must keep looking.
