Chapter 448: Chapter 447: Research Breakthrough

Busy, busy, in the following days, Richard became even busier, continuously researching the knowledge inscribed on the scrolls of the Black Spirit King’s Island Treasure, trying to solve the problems in his own research.

When the moon phase shifted from full moon to waning crescent, Richard clarified the knowledge he required and began to take action.

...

Eden.

Magic Testing Field.

Richard stood there, shaking his garment, from the inner lining, two distinctly different Non-Newtonian fluids rapidly flowed out, one black and the other gray.

The black fluid was the Non-Newtonian fluid previously crafted in White Stone City, and the gray was a new Non-Newtonian fluid made using the extracted substance from the outer appearance of the Sewing Monster.

The two Non-Newtonian fluids came into contact swiftly, forming a massive four-layered composite shield before Richard. Several mars-sized sparks appeared on the surface of the shield, simulating the function of reactive armor. Meanwhile, about a meter in front of the shield’s surface, the air compressed quietly, condensing into a thin, transparent air shield, which simulated the function of barricade armor. After numerous adjustments by Richard, it now had the optimal damage reduction effect.

Once a complete shield was formed, Richard’s eyes flickered, and he pushed the shield away from his body, using it as a magical target to begin destructive attack testing with magic.

Fiery Flame Impact, Cold Ice Fragments, Single Ring Explosion, Barrage Impact, Magic Salt Attack...

Rumbling explosions sounded continuously, and with great effort, the shield finally became fully destroyed, giving Richard a full understanding of the shield’s defensive power - ignoring high-level wizards and some monstrous beings, in ordinary wizard-level combat, there would hardly be a scenario where the current defensive shield could be shattered in one strike, perhaps needing at least two, even for the strongest spells.

Richard decided to name the current shield after the four techniques applied in its creation as "Barricade-style, Self-Reactive, Multi-layer Composite, Non-Newtonian Fluid State Shield."

Considering the name was too lengthy and each technology represented a total transformation, it could simply be called the "Fourth Form Shield" - and if further technological enhancements were added later, then it would be the "Fifth Form Shield," "Sixth Form Shield," ...

Besides the Fourth Form Shield was the research on the Divine Blood.

...

Eden.

Biological Function Sector, Potion Laboratory.

After studying the knowledge from the scrolls, Richard acquired a method to transform a normal heart into a heart resembling that of a Sewing Monster. Experimentally created, the concoction was separated, continuously tested, and finally found to remarkably enhance the viability, strength, and metabolism of life forms.

Combining this substance under various conditions with Divine Blood ultimately yielded a black potion.

Thus, the "Divine Blood (Intermediate)·Evil God Power" potion was born.

This potion, upon testing, could unleash the legendary power of a Duke-level Bloodline Seed, implying that even without using any magic, Richard could match an Official Wizard with just his physical strength after taking the potion, perhaps even suppressing an Official Wizard.

It was truly terrifying!

The effects of "Divine Blood (Intermediate)·Evil God Power" were significantly amplified, and the side effects were reduced to an extent. As long as the dosage was controlled, there would only be a period of weakness after use, rather than "multi-organ failure" that "Divine Blood (Basic)" might cause.

But without restrictions and overuse, the dangers were still present, given that medicines are essentially poisons, and this particular potion also affected the heart greatly. A mistake could lead not just to "multi-organ failure," but to something more terrifying - "heart explosion."

This was no joke; during some live potion tests, Richard had witnessed a rat die from cardiac explosion due to an overdose of the potion - yes, it was the pet rat captured from the Divination Woman.

Thus, "Divine Blood (Intermediate)·Evil God Power" could still not be considered a perfect potion; further improvements were needed to reduce side effects and continue amplifying its effects.

Perhaps reaching "Divine Blood (Advanced)," it could one day be used without limit.

Richard thought this as he began the final research task, which was the upgrade of the energy system within Eden.

...

The lack of electricity within Eden was a persistent issue troubling Richard. To save electricity, he used oil lamps for lighting unless the work was very important. Only for tasks that required high brightness, such as the study and engraving of Magic Runes, would he turn on electric lights.

Richard had repeatedly sought to resolve this issue, increase the power supply, and upgrade the electrical system, but without finding a substantial source of fossil fuels, even creating steam generators or internal combustion engines was futile.

After all, while generators could produce electricity, they were essentially converting other forms of energy. Energy is conserved, and without an energy input, even the most high-tech machinery couldn’t produce electricity.

For this reason, Richard even considered using magic to generate electricity, such as applying Fire Magic to water to produce high-temperature steam that would drive turbines, generating electricity through electromagnetic induction.

The idea was quite promising, magitech steam generators seemed quite prospective. One could even go a step further and directly inscribe Thunder Magic runes to produce electric current, which was simple and direct.

However, the problem with this approach was the low energy conversion rate, in other words, the cost-efficiency was too low.

A magitech generator powered by Fire Magic could indeed generate electricity, but magic wasn’t automatically and unlimitedly cast. Even with the use of Magic Runes, mana or Free Energy Elements would need to be inputted.

And mana needed to be melded in the Magic Origin, while Free Energy Elements required meditation to absorb, all of which took time.

Mana and Free Energy Elements were, in a sense, much like coal or petroleum; they are forms of matter. Once stirred, they produce energy, which could be used for destruction or controlled for generating electricity.

Nevertheless, these materials required a certain amount of time to process and obtain.

So, the time spent equated to the amount of Free Energy Elements collected, which then would dictate how much electricity could be generated - this was the limitation of manpower - unless a few wizards were kidnapped and forced to meditate nonstop to absorb Free Energy Elements for power generation, using magic to upgrade the entire Energy System was just a beautiful fantasy.

And how easy would it be to kidnap wizards? Successful abduction didn’t guarantee compliance.

Doing so would be less practical than "sweet-talking" the young Dragon Clan female, Pandora, and having her spend a few extra hours per day generating electricity with a hand-crank generator.

Thus, the problem returned to square one: how to upgrade the Energy System and improve the current situation reliant entirely on "exploiting Pandora, the child labor, for electricity generation."

Fortunately, Richard had discovered the Temperature Difference Colloidal Material.
