Chapter 437 - 436: Death Mage

Chapter 437: Chapter 436: Death Mage

Before long, Richard had finished his dissection and left Eden, appearing on Undead Island.

"The brain has shrunk to a certain extent, the cardiopulmonary functions are enhanced, and the exterior contains special components that can withstand strong physical damage..."

Richard muttered to himself, summarizing the results he had gleaned from dissecting the Purple-skinned Stitched Monster.

His eyes twinkled, and Richard couldn’t help but voice his thoughts again, "If the Purple-skinned Stitched Monster has undergone such changes, then what variations might there be in the structure of the Green-skinned Stitched Monster and the Blue-skinned Stitched Monster?"

At this moment, Richard’s curiosity surged; he desperately wanted to dissect every type of Stitched Monster to understand the differences between them.

No sooner said than done, with his perception released, Richard quickly located a Blue-skinned Stitched Monster wandering aimlessly through the forest and silently approached it, preparing to use the same method he had employed on the Purple-skinned Stitched Monster to take it down.

A hand reached out, lips parted, and the free-flowing Energy Elements within him began to stir, readying the Spell for release.

Just then, a burst of rapid footsteps sounded.

"Pitter-patter..."

Within the sound of footsteps were mixed shouts and cries for help!

"Ah! Help! Ah! Help!"

The lone Stitched Monster was startled and growled lowly before heading toward the source of the noises.

Richard had no choice but to temporarily abandon the capture, conceal his presence, and with a dash of curiosity, follow the Blue-skinned Stitched Monster. Soon after, he saw a disheveled woman come into his field of view.

The woman was quite attractive, but at this moment, her face was full of terror as she ran blindly, chased by a large group of Stitched Monsters, vague shapes pursuing her from behind.

As the woman ran and looked back, she continued shouting loudly, colliding like a headless fly through the forest.

Richard watched the scene from the shadows and shook his head, already foreseeing the woman’s fate: If she could suppress her nervousness and keep calm, silently and swiftly escaping toward the edge of the island, she might have a chance at survival. But now, with her incessant screaming as if afraid the Stitched Monsters wouldn’t know her location, not only was she unlikely to shake off the Stitched Monsters pursuing her but would also attract others from all around.

And indeed, that was the case.

It wasn’t long before several Stitched Monsters, attracted by the woman’s escape route, appeared—Grey-skinned, Green-skinned, Blue-skinned, all were present—among them was Richard’s intended target, although he saw none that were Purple-skinned.

Richard figured that, on one hand, the Purple-skinned Stitched Monsters were rare; on the other hand, it could be that a Purple-skinned Stitched Monster, wanting to come over, got blocked by the trees and was now probably... slamming into who knows which tree.

The fleeing woman, seeing the Stitched Monsters blocking her, looked clearly startled, as if she had no idea that she had caused all of this herself. First, she let out a high-decibel shriek, then turned and fled back the way she came. But the Stitched Monsters that had followed her were now close, encircling her completely.

The color drained from the woman’s face, her body went limp, and she fell to the ground with a "thump," continuously screaming, "Ah! Help! Don’t come over here! Ah! Help! Don’t come over here!"

"Shut up!"

Suddenly, an elderly woman’s voice rang out, and then a figure emerged from among the many Stitched Monsters, completely concealed under a black cloak, rapidly approaching the collapsed woman on the ground. She reached out a pair of hands from beneath her cloak and, without mercy, slapped the fleeing woman several times, "Smack smack smack."

The old woman’s voice was hoarse and annoyed as she scolded the fleeing beautiful woman, "Run, run, run! Keep running! Shout, shout, shout! Keep shouting! You worthless whore, if it weren’t for your face, would you believe I would toss you into the sea to drown right now?"

The fleeing woman’s body shuddered, and she dared not make another sound, trembling uncontrollably.

Hiding in the shadows, Richard narrowed his eyes upon hearing the cloaked figure’s voice, then his gaze fixed on the outstretched hands of the cloaked figure, revealing hands so fair they looked like flawless white jade.

He had seen those hands before, and he recognized the voice—it was that of the divination woman who had "persuaded" him to delay his departure for a couple of days back at the Hai Ya tavern.

She was here?

Richard quickly pondered.

After he had boarded the "Naru Glory Fisherman," had she left Hai Ya and come to this small island? Or perhaps, had she found a way to board the Ghost Ship first, chasing the "Naru Glory Fisherman" all the way, and only after capturing everyone on board, did she arrive at this island with the Ghost Ship? Or maybe some other method?

But no matter which possibility, it all pointed to one fact, the divination woman was indeed intricately connected to the Ghost Ship. All his previous conjectures were merely logical hypotheses, and now those suppositions had become facts.

What did the divination woman intend to do on this island?

Her hands, so at odds with her apparent age, had just mentioned desiring a woman’s "face." Could it be...

Richard’s eyebrows shot up.

The next moment, he heard the divination woman speak again, pointing at a grey-skinned stitched monster, she ordered, pointing at the paralyzed, sitting woman, "You, big oaf! Pick this woman up and follow me! Understood?!"

After repeating her command three times, the designated grey-skinned Stitched Monster finally responded, tentatively reaching out to grab the clothing of the fleeing woman, lifting her up, and walking off in the direction from which they had come, following the divination woman.

Some of the other stitched monsters followed the divination woman while the rest slowly dispersed, swiftly returning the forest to silence.

Hidden in the dark, Richard pursed his lips, watching the direction in which the divination woman disappeared, his eyes darting about. Initially, he had wanted to capture a few stitched monsters to dissect and study, but now, seeing the divination woman appear, he had another idea in mind—to see exactly what she was up to and to get a better understanding of the entire island.

In that case...

Richard watched the direction in which the divination woman left for a few seconds, then, in the next moment, he didn’t follow her but instead, with a single step, soared backwards.

...

In the center of Undead Island, there stood a two-story stone building that, though unassuming in appearance, was currently emitting a faint light from within.

The divination woman appeared in front of the Stone Building and walked inside, with the grey-skinned stitched monster closely behind her, carrying the still violently struggling beautiful woman.

Entering the interior of the Stone Building, they were greeted by a large hall, with walls lined densely with shelves that held numerous containers. Some of the shelves held clear glass jars filled with light-yellow liquid, soaking very suspicious-looking organs like hearts and eyeballs, whether human or animal, nobody could tell. Others contained powders of various indescribable types.

In the middle of the hall was an impossibly large stone table, and before it stood a man draped in a yellow robe, exuding an eerie chill—none other than... the Death Mage!
