Chapter 330 - Chapter 330 Chapter 329 Why is the pigeon so big though you

Chapter 330: Chapter 329 Why is the pigeon so big though you make so much sense? Chapter 330: Chapter 329 Why is the pigeon so big though you make so much sense? In the process of comparison, the results can vary widely depending on the chosen reference point. When the reference is in a state of change, the comparison loses its significance.

Richard explained a simple truth to Pandora, who after listening, cocked her head and thought for a long while before muttering to herself, “Is that so? That’s why I keep getting shorter…”

“…” Richard was speechless, took a deep breath, and earnestly said, “It’s not that you’re getting shorter, it’s because I’m growing taller.”

“So, I am still getting shorter?”

“…” Richard was speechless again, struggled to explain, “Both of us are growing taller, but I’m growing faster than you, so you appear to be getting shorter, but in reality, you are growing taller.”

“Is that so, I understand now, I really am getting shorter.”

Richard was completely at a loss for words: “…”

Richard felt that Pandora’s seeming shrinkage was similar to a popular internet meme on Earth, the one with the pigeon and human appearing to be the same size. Pandora’s statement, “Your reasoning is sound, but why is the pigeon so big?” would fit perfectly without any sense of discord.

“Why does the pigeon seem to be as big as a person?”

“The pigeon isn’t big, it’s because it’s standing on a wall and the angle of view is unique, so it appears very large.”

“So that’s the case, but that pigeon really is quite big.”

“The pigeon isn’t big! The pigeon and the person are aligned in the same direction, and according to the principle that closer objects appear larger, the pigeon will look big.”

“So it’s a very large pigeon standing on a wall?”

“The pigeon is just a normal pigeon! But it’s standing on a wall, on the wall! Like placing something right in front of your eyes!

Since light travels in a straight line, the maximum horizontal angle of view for the eyes is 188 degrees. So in the field of vision, the larger the angle an object occupies, the bigger it seems! The size of the angle is related to both the size of the object and its distance!

For instance, the moon and the sun, they’re both very large, but because they’re so far away, they only occupy about 0.5 degrees of our field of view and appear very small! But this pigeon, being small in size and close in distance, occupies a large angle, probably between 30 to 40 degrees, so it looks as big as a person in the distance!”

“Oh, you make a lot of sense, but why is the pigeon so big then?”

“I… Okay, I was wrong, I was really wrong. The pigeon is so big solely because it’s a monster, it’s mutated. Yes, it’s mutated, that’s why it’s so big, don’t ask anymore, or I might just go kill myself.”

“You… Alright, you have indeed gotten shorter, you keep getting shorter, and it’s all because you sleep too much. So from now on, don’t sleep so often,” Richard said, patting Pandora gently on the head, “Anyway, think about it for a bit. I’ve got things to do, we can continue this discussion later.”

“But…” Pandora wanted to say something, but Richard had already quickly walked away.

Reaching the desk by the wall in the lab, Richard let out a long sigh and calmed himself down. He took out self-made devices like grip strengtheners to thoroughly and comprehensively check his physical condition, ensuring there were no issues and that all he needed was a long period of recuperation, then he relaxed. His gaze then sharpened as he prepared to deal with the spoils from the battle in the night.

Certainly, the battle was brutal, and the cost was extremely high. Given another chance, he would not make the same choice. But… having said that, there were still gains to be had.

Yes, gains.

The first gain was…

Richard flipped his hand, and a headless, contorted corpse tumbled out from the Space Iron Ring–it was Suo Men’s body.

At that time, Richard had been in a fit of rage, and after a series of frenzied attacks that scared Mu Konni away, he promptly retreated. As he passed Suo Men’s corpse, he had thought about looting to compensate for some losses, but the situation didn’t allow for it. With a quick thought, he grabbed Suo Men’s body, bolstered by the Wind Force and Divine Blood, and forcefully stuffed it into the Space Iron Ring.

Suo Men’s head had rolled too far away and was not along his retreat path, thus it was abandoned and left behind.

Now, Richard looked down at Suo Men’s corpse on the ground, eyes slightly narrowed, scrutinizing it carefully.

After a thorough examination, Richard had to admit something: maybe Suo Men could have unleashed the power of a Second-level Wizard, but his entire outfit was indeed very shabby–aside from the familiar Space Iron Ring, there was nothing else of note.

Thinking about it, it was understandable.

After all, Suo Men was someone who had already died once. If this were a modern Earth video game, it would be like having dropped all one’s gear. Hence, even after a resurrection, one would have to start amassing wealth from scratch, so some shabbiness was unavoidable. Having said that, even though he was shabby, he still had a Space Ring as a safety net, which was quite conscientious.

Richard took the ring off Suo Men’s hand and held it up, eyes flickering as he thought of something else.

The ring was black in color, similar to iron, but it was definitely not iron, just like the one he had obtained from the body previously; he imagined the space inside would be just as big.

This second Space Iron Ring had been on Suo Men’s body, which had been in the first Space Iron Ring along with a pile of miscellaneous items for several hours, and there had been no problems.

This suggested that a Space Iron Ring can contain another space item of the same kind. In other words, one space item could be placed inside another space item, and that space item could be placed inside a third one, and so on, nesting indefinitely.

From a certain perspective, it appears that the space occupied by a Space Ring is truly just the volume of the ring itself, confirming some of his previous theories.

His previous theory was that a Space Iron Ring wasn’t a true space item, it merely exhibited similar properties. In reality, a Space Iron Ring was an entrance to a Storage Space, a door leading to a storeroom, a mouthpiece connected to a huge sack.

One could think of it as a slender Black Snake. This Black Snake, in a miraculous manner, swallowed an elephant, causing its back half to bloat up like a small house.

The bloated, house-like back half of the Black Snake would represent the Storage Space, the still slim front half of its body represented a magical space conduit, and the snake’s mouth was the entrance to the Storage Space. Once an object entered the mouth, it would travel through the miraculously slender body into the stomach of the Storage Space.

The Space Iron Ring represents such a “Swallowing Elephant Black Snake” bag, and the Space Iron Ring itself, to be exact, was just an entrance–a mouthpiece.

Thus, inside the Space Iron Ring, another Space Iron Ring could be placed–because what’s being placed inside is not the actual Storage Space, but merely an entrance.

An entrance!
